  1. We need some more threads about striving for 20 more years of mediocrity.
  2. Yes, a 34-year old guard retires, and the season is over. RIP, 2018.
  3. I thought his play slipped noticeably last year-- and he is 34. Also, not happy with the pay cut. Groy can play guard, and the Bills signed a center to replace Wood. Bills need to add depth (or another starter) on the line. This can be done fairly deep in the draft.
  4. 4th round talent. Could be a decent backup.
  5. Far too early to grade this draft, but if the Bills don't get their QB this year (and Watson and /or Mahomes are good) and Jones does bust (again, too early, but definitely trending badly), the '17 draft will not be remembered fondly.
  6. However all of this plays out, it makes one uncomfortable to see the Jets, and now the hated Patriots, moving up the board. Patriots may not have the ammo Buffalo has to get to #2, but they could try to move ahead of the 12 spot, if QB is the target.
  7. I thought it might take two more moves. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
  8. I'm hoping the Bills somehow get Darnold or Rosen. Frankly, I'm not interested in any of the others in the 1st round.
  9. Seemed like a good kid. Whatever has gone wrong, hopefully he will get the help he needs.
  10. Unbelievable. Wasn't he a "high character" guy? With the way he performed last year, and now this-- he'll be on a short leash, if he is still on the team this year. It does sound like a bad drug reaction.
  11. I don't think the Giants want to drop all the way to 12. It will likely take two trades for the Bills to get to number 2.
  12. McCarron has had four years to challenge Andy Dalton in Cincinnati, and there has never been talk of a real competition. A fifth round draft pick-- with obvious limitations who will never be mistaken for a franchise guy (or even a true starter). If McCarron starts, it will either be because the rookie needs time, or the Bills were unable to get the guy they want.
  13. Could be the worst I've seen, and I've seen some bad ones.
  14. If they can't get the guy they want (I don't believe for a minute it is Jackson), just pass on a QB in the 1st round. Not interested in Losmaning the draft (picking a 2nd or 3rd option). That said, I'd do everything in my power to get the guy I want.
  15. They could have struck last year, but gave way to KC.
  16. Browns are taking a QB at #1. Period.
  17. Just the other day, Beane said in his press conference that he had 6 weeks to prepare for the draft. Timetable may have been moved up.
  18. I thought of Foles when this news broke (but there is the question of Wentz' readiness). The Bills could have avoided all of this by drafting Watson or Mahomes (my choice) last year.
  19. QB class looks lousy for 2019 (as of now).
  20. Two QB's I like are Darnold and Rosen-- and it's easy to see them going 1, 2. I've felt all along that the Bills need to get up that far to be certain they'd get one. Trouble is, there is only one potential trade partner now-- a team that may want one of them. The Jets may have played their hand early, but they will get one of the top three on their board. The Bills may get shut out, unless they make a major reach for Jackson at 12-- a mistake, I think. Not exactly feeling great today.
  21. He addressed this exactly the way I expected. Really, what else is he going to say?
  22. They may have to move to 2 to get Darnold or Rosen. Even if they do, say they want Darnold, and Cleveland takes him. What then? Taking a 2nd choice can be disastrous (see Losman, JP). They pretty much have to know what the teams ahead of them will be doing. Nothing is guaranteed (they also need a partner to get up that high).
  23. Glad they got a guy. Not my first choice, but they needed someone with some experience in the mix.
  24. I thought the Bills would get in on one of the free agent QB's early-- the market really dried up long before the "beginning" of free agency. Now they have to hope for a veteran like Moore or McCarron--- not ideal. It really hurt that the Jets signed the two guys I would have liked (how many QB's are on their roster now?).
  25. It's the lack of aggressiveness (or commitment to a plan) that has the Bills where they've been for the last 20 yrs. Time to step up and play with the big boys.
