Report: Bengals looking to trade WR John Ross
C.Biscuit97 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m not saying Andy Dalton is great. But he is a qb that has been to playoffs multiple times so it makes a lot more sense why they would have passed on Mahomes. Still, I didn’t get the Ross pick for them. It didn’t seem like a huge need. It’s weird because he did have that combine time but he’s become a weird red zone threat. He had 7 tds on 21 catches and 210 yards. That’s like TE numbers, not small fast guy stats. -
Message boards are the best. You can pretend every school in the country wanted you as a 5 star high school recruit; or that you started for one of the best teams in college; or you made the top 1% of your profession and made millions in it. Keep up the good work Matt. We all believe you are super successful!

Bills hire away Dolphins Director of Analytics

Nerds But seriously, good for nerds for getting involved in football. I think the key is finding the balance between analytics and old fashion scouting. Sites like PFF have value but they often are very flawed in their analysis (not knowing playcalls or assignments for individual players is a big one). Also, in an emotional game like football, blind numbers don’t work like they do in baseball. still, what can it hurt if used in a vacuum. ? -

I will say, when’s he not hurt, he finds a way to score. Shocking pick though he was a good player in college. Personally, I think it would be stupid for the Bengals to trade him now since his value is so low. But if it was for a 3rd or later, I’d be really interesting (depending on his physical). I love former 1st round picks who struggle on their first team. -
I mean maybe he thinks like that and that would be great. Or maybe he sees a 52% passer who averaged 170 yards/game. Again, he may be a perfect match for Allen but these guys want to go where they can maximize their numbers.
-
I don’t believe the league views Allen as an upgrade over Tyrod at this point, right or wrong. As a receiver, just blindly looking at Allen’s stats, would you bet your career and future earnings on Allen? They might be dead wrong but his is how players and agents think.

Karlos Williams conditionally reinstated by NFL

I believe there are some domestic violence accusations out there. -
You realize there are a bunch of those for our qbs too, right? http://www.nfl.com/player/ejmanuel/2539228/gamelogs i don’t get why people still try to hate on a good guy who has played better than a lot of scrub qbs who keep backup jobs.

I agree. And my mediocre receiver comment was something Richard Sherman said about Crabtree. Though he is now mediocre, he had a nice career. Yeah, I think Brown is the better receiver now. Though he passed on us last year.
-
Yeah, I mean at this point of their careers, they are similar. I think Crabtree probsbly thinks that he is better than he is and will only take money to come to a “non contender “ but would take less to go to a “contender.” I do think he would be nice to have a vet in the locker room though.
-
I don’t get why it’s that surprising. He has a 77 qb rating. There are way worse guys who get spots. Why do guys like Savage, Weeden, Peterman, etc. keep getting jobs?

Wanna be the next Billy Buffalo?

I would just like to borrow the costume for one night. ? -
Isn’t he basically what Zay is, except with better hands and much more expensive? I mean I won’t completely hate it but he is on the downhill slide. Plus, he would probably want a big over pay to come here.
-
Receivers might not either. That’s kinda of the point that some people are missing. No one questions Allen’s arm. But throwing missiles all the time doesn’t work either. I think the very underrated thing I saw with Mahomes is his touch on certain passes. I didn’t see that as much with Allen. I know now how hard you worked to defended his accuracy but honestly, what would be the Vegas line be on his completion % next year? 55? Aaron Rodgers has a similar background. He was smaller in high school, no big offers, went JUCO, and completed 66% of his passes in the PAC 10. im playing devil’s advocate and I hope you’re right. But of Qbs drafted in the last 10 years, Allen would be an absolute complete outlier if he turns into a top qb.

Mediocre receiver

I think Big Ben is a piece of crap. That doesn’t excuse Brown’s behavior. He has a bunch of off the field issues that aren’t Big Ben’s fault. Ryan Clark said money made him a monster. He went from a 6th round pick to a diva who is completely thirsty for attention. And for much as Big Ben is an idiot, he is a HOF qb who has 2 rings. You really believe Brown would come to Buffalo and listen to Josh Allen? I’m glad fans have big plans for Allen but most of the league still sees a ton of fault in him. Brown would hate it and he’s not the type of guy to be quiet about it. and which of those diva receivers are SB champions or make their team’s playoff contenders? Between TO, Moss, and Brown (why is Rice on there?), there are 0 championships. Team chemistry matters in football more than any sport. There are plenty of good receivers, Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Hopkins, who aren’t selfish idiots. Find one in the draft for much cheaper and less headaches. I don’t disagree. But they still hold the cards. Brown is so desperate for attention, not being in the spotlight would kill him.

Allen 3000 yards. + 1000 yards
C.Biscuit97 replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this John. But if the Bills don’t do anything when Gronk does that to White, they aren’t doing it for Allen. I get being disciplined but I hate being soft. -
Fair points but I think a problem fans get into judging receivers is end results. Receiver is the most dependent position in football. Hardy is probably a better player playing with Big Ben than he was with Trent Edwards. OBJ isn’t close to the same player if the Bills draft him. If the Colts draft Lee Evans, I believe he has a Marvin Harrison type career. Julian Edelman is nobody without Brady and now people (foolishly) ask if he’s a hall of famer. receiver, almost more than any position, depends on some many other things than just actual talent. Yeah, I agree. It’s the stuff fans don’t see: medical checks and interviews that make the biggest impact for teams.

Karlos Williams conditionally reinstated by NFL
C.Biscuit97 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Fat Karlos only had a brain. He was amazing as a rookie but he makes terrible decisions off the field. He plays a position that is easily replaceable so I have a hard tome seeing him playing in the nfl again. Such a waste of talent.
