Josh Allen "Prove it" Season In Year 3
C.Biscuit97 replied to longtimebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup, they had maybe their worst game of the season. Do I think that discounts everything else he did last year? absolutely not. He was the best player in the nfl. Are you Alex Jones? My argument: Allen isn’t as good as MVPs and it makes no sense to put them down in comparison to Allen. Have a great night conspiracy guy. -

The point of the 400 yards is the Ravens constantly were moving the ball against the Titans. I think they were in Titans territory 8 times. They shoot themselves in the foot and that’s on them. But it wasn’t like the Titans were shutting them down. -

I have no idea what you’re rambling. Think about what you just wrote. I’m having to defend the league’s MVP? You don’t realize how crazy that sounds. All the while we are touting a guy who has never hit 60% on any level and has passed for under 200 yards/ game so far in his career. if anyone takes that as a slight to Allen, it’s insane. Yes, I don’t think Allen is as good as league MVPs. At this point, on any level of football including Allen playing against much easier competition, has he ever been better than Jackson or Newton. This isn’t opinion. It is fact that only Bills fans don’t understand (I get it, we’re fanatics). I’ve grown to love Allen and his attitude. But at some point, you need to stop being potential. Guys like Jackson and Newton have dominated several levels of football. Allen has never done that. So I do find wild that some fans find ways to knock Jackson and Newton. -

Major red flag? I think you’re over stating things big time. Also, that Ravens offense is not loaded with all pros. I don’t think one of their skill players ever made a pro bowl before last. maybe and this is crazy but Jackson is good and young. And maybe he had a bad game (with 400 yards). Tell me why think that is? I’m genuinely curious because I’m sure it is dumb. but yeah, I find it kinda crazy that Bills put down a league MVP (put Cam in there too) while finding every excuse for Allen. These guys have been better players on every level than Allen, against much harder competition. Yet, a lot of fans poke holes in their games while propping Allen up. It’s disingenuous. and this isn’t even a knock on Allen to say he’s not as good as league MVPs. -

Jackson had a better completion % and td passes this year than any season of Vick’s career. He also was a better passer in college. And who are his studs? A 2nd year TE who was so valued he was drafted in the 3rd round? A Rookie receiver who missed half of the year? Willie Snead? You guys works so hard fo try and discredit Jackson. People would kill for Allen to have that season. But what was Newton’s drop %? ? one thing I hate is double standards. A lot of the posters trying to dismiss guys like Newton and Jackson, yet fall all over themselves trying to make excuses for Allen. -

The only thing about this if he could be the best slot receiver in the nfl if he really wears down at Rb. This guy is the ultimate weapon. Loved him since Stanford. -

Any chance Trevon Diggs falls to the Bills?

That’s fair too. But if you have a great pass rusher, you don’t need an undersized LB trying to make that play in the first place. -

Except he was completely won about that. Newton was playing at a MVP level and passing better than he ever has in 2018 and he got hurt. The only thing I disagree about is Jackson is a much better passer than Vick. Vick had a cannon but was not close to as accurate as Jackson is. -

Dude you are so wrong on Newton. Like it’s your worst stance on this board. In his first 2 seasons, Newton averaged 31 passes/ game. Allen averaged 27.9. Newton ran 7.9 times a game. Allen ran 7 times a game. Essential they both ran once for every 4 throws. Except when Newton threw it, he was much more successful. So by your logic, Allen is a running qb. in 2018, he completed 68% of his passes (monster improvement) and had a 22 td to 7 int ratio before he got hurt. so to recap. Newton isn’t a winning qb despite having a better win % (including 8 straight losses when it is common knowledge he was hurt); was winning a Heisman in the SEC while Allen wasn’t making 1st or 2nd team in the MWC; setting rookie passing records while Allen is averaging under 200 passing yards per game (why don’t you say Allen is a running qb ?); and won a MVP/ got to a SB where his number 1 receiver was Ted Ginn. Yet, Allen has higher upside than him??? I mean I hope that’s true but it’s based on completely nothing but Bills hope. Of course, you’re the same guy I believe thinks Allen could be better than Big Ben so I’m glad you had a lot of drinks on Easter. ? -

We had 36 sacks, which tied for 26th. Interesting enough, the top team won the SB. We just lost 16 of those sacks. I mean maybe Murphy will get back on the PEDs and share them with Hughes. But to think pass rushers isn’t a big need whole talking about punters is kinda wow. Maybe a great pass rusher instead of Milano finished off that Watson play. and I think you are missing a lot about the game. This sounds out of the Rex Ryan school of thought. Teams blitz because their d line isn’t good enough. Great qbs love blitzing teams because they can beat the Blitz for big plays. Brady laughs at Rex’s stupid blitzes. It’s why the 49ers had the best qb in the nfl struggling for the first half of the SB. A great d line. It’s why the Giants beat Brady. A great d line. Nothing about Murphy and a declining Hughes is great. It’s absolutely a huge need. And this is crazy but if you have a really good d line who can generate pressure without blitzing, it helps everyone cover better. This, you don’t have as Don’t have to go crazy drafting and signing cbs. -

Wait what??? It seems like you are thorn stuck in the 90s (I mean I was a little kid but it was a completely different league). Punter is our own only pressing need??? You know this is a passing league right? Many teams play with 4 receivers and 3 wrs is a base formation. We have a great trio but they are little people. We need some size. Small guys can get taken out easily. and along with passing the ball, you have to Stop the pass. We lost our top 2 sack guys. We have “high motor, not productive” Murphy and his 4 sacks a year. We have Hughes who has averaged 5 sacks a year for the last 4 years. We added Addison but he is at the age where guys fall off quick. It’s crazy to me that you don’t think these are bigger needs. I hope the Bills don’t think that way. You can never ever have enough pass rushers, especially when the ones you have aren’t that good. -
Josh Allen Vs Baker Mayfield AND SAM DARNOLD
C.Biscuit97 replied to wiley16350's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) Allen’s accuracy isn’t good and it’s never been good at any level of football. Can he improve sure but people need to stop pretending it’s some government conspiracy to discredit Allen. In today’s nfl, under 60% sucks. 2) were you not on this planet since the football season started? Mayfield got murdered all year for how much he and the Browns underachieved. There’s no way you didn’t hear all the criticism. And darnold has mono that completely sidetracked his season. No one of these guys have proven that they are franchise guys yet and have a ton to prove this year. I think Allen has the best overall team around him; Baker has the most talented offense; and Darnold is definitely in the worst situation. It’s hypothetically but I think it’s interesting to think what each guy would do in a different situation. I think Darnold would be a stud here. -

1) if Allen comes close to Newton, i will consider it a very success draft pick. The amount of disrespect Newton gets on this board is stupid. All the crying about Allen’s “terrible” weapons, look at some of the scrubs newton had to throw to the majority of his career. Allen has a long way to get to Newton peak territory. 2). What in the world is the Lamar Jackson comparison to Aaron Brooks? I thought this didn’t make sense because they are 2 totally different qbs. Brooks had a career high rushing season of 358. He never went over 300 in any other season. Jackson has almost 400 more rushing yards in 2 years than Brooks had in his 7 year career! additionally, Jackson completed 66% of his passes this year which is 10% than Brooks’ career rate. Very lazy and bad comparison. Jackson is another player this board loves to tear down. ? If Allen has Jackson’s last season, we could be sending petitions for the Bills to pay him a billion dollars instead of trying to pick him apart. -

I think it’s more evidence of his not being the most accurate passer. And it was in the MWC not the SEC. I just don’t why some of you are so quick to dismiss all the statistics that show he isn’t the most accurate passer. I would love to see this board would judge him and Darnold if they switched teams. -

Pass rusher and receiver with size. Those are way higher than another corner plus if there is one thing this regime is great at, its finding defensive backs. -

I would hate spending that high of a pick on a cb with all the needs we have. I mean it would be a nice story but it’s the NFL not a family reunion. -

Let this be another example of why it is insanely stupid to let a head coach also be the GM. BOB is fine as a head coach (there’s like 3 true difference maker head coaches). He is awful as a GM. Him being the GM is going to kill him as the coach. Rick Smith got a raw deal and built a really nice team that could have been super bowl contenders. But thanks Bill. -

This country has become so cult like lately. There are so many idiots in power and no matter how much evidence is presented that they are idiots, their cult continues to make excuses. I love the Bills more than I rationally should. However, I’m not going to be in a cult for Allen. dude has shown he is a nfl qb. But there is plenty of solid evidence that points to real questions if he Can be a true franchise guy. But to the cult members who dismiss any shred of non Josh Allen is the best evidence is kinda wild. But happy Easter! -

Big Ben is a 64.3% career passer and has had seasons of 68 and 67. He doesn’t seem like the Brady or Brees type but he’s surprisingly accurate. Better than Big Ben??? Glad to see people are still having lots drinks this Easter!!! is there one sort of evidence that Allen can be better than Big Ben other than blind homerism? I actually love that you brought up Big Ben. He did what I wanted Allen to do in college - dominate. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/ben-roethlisberger-1.html And most people will tell you the Mac is a better conference than the MWC. this has always been my problem with Allen and all the excuse makers. He has never been a dominant player on any level. He will make spectacular plays, for quarters and occasionally halves. But now we are expecting him to be a consistently great player in the nfl. It’s a huge risk imo. Luckily, the defense is so good that a good game manager can win us a lot of games. -

I love Milano. Right now, he is a better player than Dawkins. But LTs are a million times harder to find than OLB, which is probably one of the Easy positions to find in football, especially if you have a good d line. So I would lean towards Dawkins provide he continues progressing. I also worry about Milano holding up long term physically. I know there are new breeds of LBs but it’s still a very physical position and he is a smaller guy there.
