  1. So Hoyer was pretty good last year in real games, right? Maybe he's not a franchise guy but I couldn't figure out why everyone was trashing the guy in the preseason like he was Jeff Tuel or something. I forgot that Cameron didn't play either. Good for them.
  2. 7 vs 3 obviously matters a lot in a league where the margins are usually thin. But redzone play like turnovers, is something where past performance isn't as predictive as a lot of other things. So I guess I'm not really worried about it. Moving the ball and getting in the redzone is the biggest thing good offenses do more than lousy ones.
  3. Ha, I actually think that's obvious. Moreno is a quintessential jag. Tough to complain about the refs with that Watkins score imo. Could've been a touchback but I mean whatever, everyone else gets breaks at home.
  4. Id actually be ok w/ dealing & getting 90 cents on the dollar for him now. Who knows what you'll be able to fetch a month from now. Of course if you drafted him you're a lot less scared than I was that offense could be a disaster so...confirmation bias.
  5. I'm playing FJax over Joique Bell; kinda the same thing
  6. OK then. So did he or did he not reach for a QB in round 1 in a weak qb class and trade away a 1st without a surefire franchise QB in house in those < 2 years? As much as you may want to for the purpose of winning your little internet argument, you can't blame either of those things on me or Mike Schopp or Holcomb's Arm or John in Fredonia or the previous 12 years. Sorry, you just can't. His career hinges on EJ and pretty much everyone knew that even before Ralph died.
  7. The loaded questions are better suited for everyone who thinks drafting two QBs every single year until you find a good one is a dumb idea. Or for someone who wasn't driving the "Suck For Luck" campaign, imo. But a QB class being lousy isn't a good reason to pigeon hole yourself into taking one in Round1 of said year. And it's certainly not a reason to double down with the Watkins deal.
  8. "With the coach we all need to have a shortsighted, mob mentality. But with the GM? Lets try and be analytical and smart!". Umm, sure Mathew. The QB has the single greatest impact on W/L and that's on the GM more than it is the coach. You can quibble about the QB in football like you quibble about the foundation of a house.
  9. OK Captain Caveman. "Have your meaningful OBP% and Slugging. I'll stick with the antiquated Batting Average and RBI's!". Thanks Rueben Amaro.
  10. I was going by DVOA which is a superior metric imo. The offense running the fastest pace in football and creating more possessions skews those stats.
  11. In Philly, apathetic. At first I didn't like them because I listened to the radio and heard how dumb their fans were. Lately I've wised up and stopped doing that, so I don't care. I do like Chip Kelly and like most of us, don't care for the other teams in the division. And it helps now that punks like Vick & DeSean are gone. So Fly Eagles I guess but I really don't care still.
  12. What a shock that the thing you're not willing to remember or look up makes your opinion look silly. This is pretty much the exact reason DVOA was created and is useful. 4 of the 5 total TD's in the 1st NE game were either fumble returns, or set up by turnovers on the other team's side of the field. The 1st Jet game ints gave us a short field which led to 11 points. The KC game we all know about. Pittsburgh was a shutout without a takeaway on the 1st possession and the trashiest garbage TD in NFL history. Yes, good points. I do think the D will be a lot closer to last year than the 2012 disaster. Because the secondary probably won't be as injured as last year, and Kiko imo was a bit overrated. And who knows, maybe Wanny really was just that incompetent (actually this is safe to say already, but to what extent Pettine is a genius remains to be seen). But it is still reasonable to expect a drop-off from setting a franchise sack record and being a top 5 unit.
  13. Or he has a finite amount of space to explain himself. And instead of telling the country what they already know (that the QB is a giant ?), he gives reasons why the less publicized other side of the ball (which is less of a constant from year to year than offense anyway) will regress. Yes I thought this was pretty obvious. Fair question. They had an uncanny ability to drag opponents down to their level in the mud. Think Ravens last year times five. Then add in a big Lee Evans game and a random thumping of a bad team at home.
  14. For sure. It's so easy and cool to say "that won't work in the big leagues". For f*** sake they were saying it after one game when the Eagles offense slowed down in the 2nd half in Washington (as if they were supposed to put up 50 points). Except that Chip Kelly is not a 1 trick pony in the mold of Woody Hayes - I think that's the big misconception. He's an innovator who exploits weaknesses. Just so happened the spread was the way to do that in college. I do think NFL defenses will adjust (Nick freaking Foles can't look like a superstar forever) and then he'll adjust to something else. But I mean it's nice and safe to hire an old NFL vet who punts on 4th&2 and loses because nobody can say "this isn't college" when they go 6-10.
  15. Yah. I like the Orton signing but did they wake up two days ago and know what they were doing, I sorta doubt it. The whole Lewis/Palmer transaction is all just very bizarre to me. I mean lets be clear, Thad Lewis is not good. But when was the last time a QB led us from 14pts down in the 4th Qtr in a game that counted (this is actually a great trivia question - Kelly '91 in Los Angeles? I really don't know)...Against a good defense no less? For all the practice fails he did do that like 3 starts ago. We thought Jordan Palmer would be an upgrade? Oh well it's a moot point now but it really makes me wonder what goes thru this FO's head.
  16. How do I get in this league? There's no way you should have the six bolded RB/WRs plus Gronk in a snake draft. Green falling to 18th? overall is pretty hilarious on its own. Should be a sick team if they stay healthy but not in love with the depth (I don't hate Ridley for how late he's going). Platooning Cam/RG3 weekly could get to be a headache. I probably would've gone for some stronger RB depth with the Cam pick and gone with Rivers or someone later to pair with RG3 instead. I don't agree with the narrative that Cam's WR's "can't be worse than last year" - watch them - but that's just me.
  17. That's a good place to start. Or just google "fantasy rankings". There's a million different 'big boards' on CBS & ESPN and they'll all be fairly similar.
  18. Yah none of these fancy schmancy numbers and stats are based on stuff that happens in real games. Lets get to the real situation on September 7th. Obviously the Bills are in tough vs the '85 Bears in a snowstorm and not an awful defense in sunshine.
  19. I am taking McCoy over Peterson 1st in mine on Thursday. Just because he's younger and a bit less of an injury risk. Charles to me is the clear 3rd. I think the difference in the two players needs to be like Walter Payton vs. Jonathan Linton to justify taking the guy whose OL is in shambles over the guy with one of the league's best OL's. But the players are pretty equal, so, for me it's pretty easy.
  20. How did you pick late 3rd; reverse snake? I think Rivers is fine if you're going to wait on qb. Like the RB's a lot. Hyde (who the Bills apparently wanted?) is massive upside. I sorta hate Patterson & Benjamin tbh given how many proven guys are drafted around them. WR's are largely a matter of personal preference I guess though (I like Greggy's Randle/Mathews/Wheaton depth trio a lot). 9ers D I would avoid like the plague - they're always picked 2nd and won't finish top 5.
  21. Brees & Brown are great but I don't like them for 6th and 15th overall picks. I suppose overdrafting on QB is defensible in a 10teamer where you only play 4 skill positions though. Not sure how you got all of Martin/Spiller/VJax/Cameron. Good league.
  22. The romanticism about that 13-10 Ravens win (they'll ignore that a Tony Banks fumble even gave us a chance at the end) is almost as comical as the notion it was Sully & Schopp ran him out of town. Doing nothing vs a mediocre Giants team that was playing without its entire starting secondary towards the end of that year was a big checkmark in the "it" column too.
  23. Good work. I remember all these games. '92 Saints - Kelly went off on reporters in the postgame. '93 Cowboys - Matt Darby. '94 Pats - the nbc announcers were disgusted at how awful NE's secondary was...pretty funny. '95 - Henry Jones goaline stop on Marshal Faulk. '96 - late Bruce Smith sack sealed it. Blocked punt for TD early. Now Post-Kelly era, it gets tough. A Jets team that made the playoffs due to Curtis Painter and it still took 475 Sanchize int's to beat in nearly 75 minutes, God I hope we're not counting that. '07 Washington, whatever. '06 Jets, a fluke team. Bengals game was meaningless. Seattle was a mediocre team in a crappy division (at least that was a drubbing). I believe 1999 is the correct answer. Miami was a big revenge game on Monday night. Washington ended up being a decent team that lost to that Bucs team by 1pt that almost beat the Rams - and we destroyed them. So that's probably the last one imo.
