  1. Both good points. A superior OL is important but rather obvious to make it a priority when you have everything else on offense. I don't want to say Monte Kiffin was Wandsteadt because the Bills in 2012 had way more talent on that side & I'm still not sure the Cowboys D will hold up. But so far Marinelli has been a miracle worker.
  2. They should throw a lot and watch tape of 2012 Spiller. They will bench Robert Woods and activate a 4th TE.
  3. And because analytics is so simple and one-dimensional, it doesn't factor in lost field position on failed 4th downs.
  4. I'll be interested in seeing more of their games. He made some horrific throws to keep Auburn in that game for a while. Clearly has some talent though.
  5. Someone should edit to include that article to include the '98 game. I knew he did that one. Did he also do the '01 game in Buffalo where the NE WR's unconscious head was touching the chalk while the ball was touching his leg in bounds? Never seen that one before or since. I do remember '98 being an especially awful year. Was also the year of the cointoss controversy, and the Terrell Owens catch vs GB - a couple plays before that Jerry Rice fumbled.
  6. Whatever. Boldin or whatever his name is will be the same. Mayo hurts a bit.
  7. Where are you getting three turnovers? It was two including the last play of the game which was meaningless. Try again.
  8. "Conspiracy" is basically a cool buzzword for purposes of making the straw-man. I don't think refs go into a game trying to make sure the Bills lose. I think they respect and listen to Bellichick more than others. I think they expect Brady to be better than the Bills QB and look for more reasons to throw OPI flags. And I think it's awfully curious that when Revis has his arm around the ref conversing like it's one of his boys after the Woods TD, and there's unfathomable bad calls after that... They're human and prone to lots of errors that may favor one team more than another. IDK really what to do about it. Maybe Gillmore can try to be smooth like Revis did. Obviously winning will help. But the Pats got lots of help without the winning tradition in 2001.
  9. Stop moving goalposts. You're the one who brought up PPG and PPG exclusively. You obviously did that for a reason - because there is no other leg to stand on for arguing their performances have been comparable. So when the PPG theory gets ripped to shreds, we move on to W/L and hypothetical W/L not accounting for the quality of defense or opponent. Weak sauce even for an EJ apologist.
  10. I think Brady might've been smart enough to throw that fake deep pass on purpose after the time out to f*** with us. It's good to know we didn't fall for that but then again, biting on play action might be even worse.
  11. I particularly liked how EJ willed Corey Graham to dominate the Bears & get three takeaways and CJ to run the kick back and blocking that punt vs Miami. Some stuff you just can't teach.
  12. Yay for arbitrary endpoints. How many of those were against Denver - 3? They also didn't try @San Diego week 17.
  13. That's not why you had no running game last yr and you weren't sniffing the playoffs with Wheadon anyway. That trade was a fleecing. The Tampa GM couldn't have been more right when he told Buddy Nix that the Indy guy has the greatest job in the world. He's a joke and he'll have a job for a long time for lucking into as much of a sure thing HoF QB as there ever was.
  14. You pretty much have it covered. In the interest of being practical, I'd modify starting corner to any decent DB who can provide depth - CB, Safety, whatever. And yes coaching changes.
  15. Is there a point to this thread? As if anyone thought Orton was great? ~20th best QB or thereabouts is what we realistically hoped for. I think you drastically underestimate how much better that is than the 40th or so best QB in the league. KC underwent a very similar upgrade last year and it's done wonders for them (yes Crennell to Reid helps too).
  16. 50yd Cameron TD & Big Rape int made a 7-3 game 21-3. That makes it 54-6 in six quarters before a garbage time Pitt TD. Sucks they didn't get the sweep.
  17. When your running game sucks, the KC blueprint is hard to follow.
  18. Yah you're kinda proving our point. You're happy with 1-1 because one of them was vs a team that's been too good for us for too long. NE is not a great team this year. History shouldn't impact your expectations so much. And even if it did, why are you so optimistic about @NJ? Last time we won there we needed a 6th Sanchez int to avoid a tie.
  19. Aikman might be a homer but he's right, that was a beatdown of sorts. Can we please stop with the Wilson = Luck for now. Rod Marinelli is a miracle worker.
  20. This. In how many NFL cities is anyone excited about 3-3. It's not good enough. Not when you've made multiple "must win now" moves and avoided catastrophic injuries and not when both your division games have been home and you're 1-1. This too.
  21. For ten years on this board I've rolled my eyes at the "blame OC" threads for the most part. I'm on board with the bashing this time. The guy just brings nothing to the table. Only hope other than being fired is if he scraps the wasted 1st down run behind awful Guards next yr like he scrapped the joke hurry-up this year. Probably shouldn't take him a year to figure these things out though.
  22. Seriously, pre-internet and it was a 1st&10 play no less. Bringing that one up ran its course fifteen years ago after the numerous garbage calls in the 1st half of the Titans game. +1.
  23. And the supposed strength of their team - the defense - has been awful before today. Hoyer might be good.
