Xavier Worthy: So far, not much more than a gadget guy
zow2 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not going to do statistical backflips in my mind to rationalize why/how Coleman is better than Worthy...or why Coleman has a better looking future than Worthy. My eyes told me that Worthy continued to get better as the year went on, and Keon got worse after his injury. In the playoffs, Worthy was pretty much KC's best receiver on the field and whoever was 2nd place didn't look close. -
Maybe it's too harsh, but the Bills are clumped in there with the Chiefs, Ravens and Lions as the teams whose seasons are considered a failure. These are the Super Bowl or bust teams of 2024. Sure, the Bills may have overachieved,,,I agree. But when you have the season they had, and Allen is in his prime, losing in the AFC Championship was a fail.

Terry Pegula is the least likely owner in the NFL (probably by a mile), to move on from a winning coach/GM combo. He's traumatized by the Sabres troubles getting it right.

Bills scored more points than any other team this season..

Yep. There's no guarantee in anything. To make the SB, you have to be clutch and somewhat lucky... and we are not. We got the luck part when Andrews dropped the 2-pt conversion and could not finish the job with the clutch aspect vs KC. -
This is now on Beane, no question he needs to step up.

I'm going to quibble with this a little bit... because i heard Beane in an interview last (spring or summer?) talking about building a roster. I'm paraphrasing but he said something about, you cannot expect to have a roster full of choir boys, you have to take a chance on talented guys. It's a balance. -
The Eagles just won two recent Super Bowls (2018 & 2025) over both AFC Dynasty teams with an entirely different QB/Head Coach combo and mostly different players across the board. That's unbelievably impressive when you think about it. Howie Roseman is playing chess over in Philly, while we are playing hungry hippo.

I used to think Beane WAS the smartest guy in the room. That Josh Allen pick got a lot of mileage. But the shine is off... Beane is at the plate, he's behind in the count, and he needs to hit a home run asap.

Yep, when you start breaking down the Eagles season in comparison to Buffalo, you see they lost or squeaked by some lousy teams in low scoring games. The Bills O needs to be competent, and it will be as long as Allen is the QB here. But we need to build a team here with some very good D, not just relying on takeaways. That's way too random to count on every season. Bills D needs to be top 5 in stopping 3rd down conversions....not last. -

I’m not going to get caught up in big blowouts next season vs lousy teams. That doesn’t help you in postseason. Bills offense is fine. They need to use 90% of their resources on defense this offseason. That’s holding them back from winning those final 2 games. -

How many players on the Bills defense now would start on the Eagles defense? I do feel like the Bills overachieved this season. It was Allen, Cook, Shakir, the OLine...some role guys stepping up in the most random moments (like Ray Davis vs NYJ) and some great takeaway numbers on D. Now it's time for Beane to take the next step with building this defense in to an AFC power. -
Boy, Andy Reid sure looks ordinary in these Super Bowls when his QB is not making magical plays.

The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse
zow2 replied to Bills Costa Rica's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm gonna guess that dude was likely available on several first half plays... but credit the Eagles DLine for making Mahomes as uncomfortable as he's ever been and not getting a chance to look downfield. -

I'm done being all hyped up over the Bills regular season point differential. I thought the Eagles were a good team this season, maybe 2nd best in the NFC...but I did not buy the media hype that Philly had the best roster top to bottom. I just saw too many games where the Eagles barely squeaked by with low scoring wins over teams like New Orleans, Cleveland, Jax, Carolina,,,,and lost to ATL and Tampa. All the flashy regular season scoring by Buffalo is nice, but will not correlate with winning a Super Bowl. By draft and free agency....Beane needs to complement the O with some really good and motivated defensive pieces. The Bills D can't rely on turnovers alone in the playoffs. -
The "everybody eats" mantra was cute last season but that should be a given going forward. Whoever is open gets the ball. No pouting allowed, however, the team could definitely use an elite WR for Allen. I'd spend more resources on defense for sure, but get the man one very good WR to the room...otherwise the offense is in good shape.

The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse
zow2 replied to Bills Costa Rica's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't care about Worthy. It's annoying we are the team that is associated with KC getting him, but he was not going to be a Bills player. What annoys me in hindsight, as others have said is ignoring the need and not drafting Cooper DeJean with that 2nd round pick. And if they were going WR, Ladd McConkey looks to be a better NFL receiver than Keon, and I don't care that we already had Shakir. Stock the team with pure talent. -
I think McDermott is OK, i'm starting to think he just doesn't have the tools on defense. The Eagles DLine just came in and said we're better, we are dominating you. The Bills have no ability to do that no matter how well McDermott coaches them up. Even when Mahomes got a pass off, the Eagles DB's were aggressive and not giving them anything easy until it was garbage time. Beane is on the clock to make this a Super Bowl level defense.
-
Good for him. He probably jumped at the chance to get a promotion, stay in the NFL and leave the godforsaken snow belt. Sometimes people enjoy a change of scenery.
-
Once again the old adage is true. Offense gets you to the playoffs. Defense wins championships.

The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse
zow2 replied to Bills Costa Rica's topic in The Stadium Wall
As i said in the other thread, the case is closed for now. Worthy > Keon. there’s no debate. hopefully 3 years from now we can say otherwise but for now, Keon is just not as good. 50/50 jump balls are not what QBs are throwing all that much anymore. Every coach and QB knows how crushing any interception is to chances of winning. -
People don’t wanna hear it. i judge with my eyes. Worthy > Keon. at least for the time being. Ladd is too. Hopefully it won’t be the case in 3 years but it is today.
-
Worthy or Ladd McKonkey woudlve been good picks. Not sure what exactly Keon will turn in to.

For those of us who have a Barkley anytime TD in our betting slips, that was a nice gameplan by KC to key on him. Good job Chiefs. That really worked out well for them.
