He's reliable for the most part. He said a trade back was in play, as was Mahomes. We traded back. He said we were trading up for Zay, we traded up.

The roster is weak. We haven't been good in forever. I don't know the answer to fixing this team, I can just tell you that everything we've been doing is wrong. Do I have confidence in Coach McD? Not particularly. But at least he's purging this team and starting over. At the very least if he stinks and gets canned we have removed some of the institutional failures that have been able to survive multiple coaches. That of course, presumes he doesn't replace failure with failure.

Yep, this is about what I expected.

He played half his first year hurt and with very little explosiveness. He has not played to his ability at all because of injuries. This is SUCH a pick and choose way to skew facts in your favor "well if you only look at the games where he scored a TD, he has scored a TD in every game I'm considering" would be just about as arbitrary.

This is straight up wrong. No one is giving a 1 for a player who misses half the season constantly. Not to mention the fact that he has 1 year left on his contract. Nobody is trading for a 1 year rental.

You're right, that was unfair. My bad. I don't think you could/should be talked into enthusiasm. I myself am cautiously enthusiastic based solely on the fact that we are at least cleaning house and this has been needed sorely for years and this is the first time we actually look to have an actual plan for the organization. Aside from that, there is absolutely no reason to be excited about a first time HC and possibly a first-time GM. Until they start stringing wins together consistently and putting a team out there that actual shows heart and competes in contested games there is really no reason to be excited to root for this team.

Look at his post history, OP is desperate for attention. He starts new threads for everything; they are often duplicates, rarely factual and pretty much all opinion-based. We don't know if Beane is a serious candidate. What we DO know is that he is not in a position in CAR where his personal philosophies can be directly attributed to the team's moves.

Agreed. They did their jobs and there is no way to pin draft failures of the actual decision-makers on the scouts themselves. This is a fairly ignorant statement. The scouts do not make picks, the GMs do. Though considering your posting history I shouldn't be surprised that you would be one of the first to celebrate during a somber moment for several people around here.

Sammy is soft. He's soft physically and he's soft mentally. There is nothing that I've seen from him in 3 years that would indicate he is a team-first type of player who will take anything less than an outlandish contract to re-sign. He is Gilmore, but on Offense. He will play under the tag if need be, but complain about it and then head to a team with a good QB. It takes a certain mindset to re-sign for a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in 17 years and Sammy does not have that mindset; he is not interested in sticking around to build a winner, he wants to go to a winner and I don't really blame him for it.
