  1. How much would you pay him? They balked at giving up much of anything for Gillislee, I would e disappointed if they were to invest very much in Matthews at this point
  2. Humber should be in Black. Lock to make the team based on special teams alone even if we ignore the fact he's likely to start at WLB for us.
  3. Looks like another good hire. I do like the way Beane appears to be empowering the guys beneath him to be in charge of their areas.
  4. The FO staff is something to be excited about. Hoping they can find us a decent WLB somehow.
  5. This guy messed up too badly with his dumb Whaley tweet. How to you pre-program a tweet to go out about roster quality BEFORE the draft even takes place?
  6. He's likely gone. Beane already gave an interview talking about how the assistant GM would be in there helping him with contracts and contract negotiations.
  7. Oh great we're back to the whining stage with some people. Super glad you decided to drop in with these original gems
  8. Yeah, this is simply wrong. Shaq is 6'4 269. That is not undersized for a 4-3 DE.
  9. Would we have been more than half a game better had we traded up to take Tru?
  10. For some reason I find this to be super encouraging. Lateral move from a better organization.
  11. Of all the Rex guys Ragland is the only one who would APPEAR to be out of position. BUT, we haven't seen him play a single down as a pro. I dislike relying on draft buzz to classify a player. I liked watching him in college but admit I never focused on how he played in coverage, I just liked watching him bash the crap out of people. I really hope he pans out, because if he does he's likely to be a fan favorite.
  12. Of the two of these Rex is actually the one who appears unqualified. The usual combo of sports announcer & ex-player/GM is fine. I don't get the problem with her replacing a male sports-announcer as long as she's competent at her job.
  13. Honestly, I don't expect him to get more than 4-5 sacks. But if he sets the edge well and shuts down the run I'll be happy with him.
  14. Agreed. Shaq in particular is absolutely more suited to playing end in a 4-3 and Washington is absolutely better off with more people next to him, which frees him up to pass rush.
  15. Sometimes you have good people in a bad environment and the best way for all parties to move forward is just to blow up that environment. If it was decided that the scouting department was a bit toxic I can absolutely deciding to blow up the whole team just to make sure none of the previous dysfunction remained. It seems like there's been a lot of the "blame game" going on at OBD for quite a while. If you really want to bring in a culture change you want to nip that stuff in the bud even if it means losing good people.
  16. Agreed. His technique isn't bad either.
  17. I'm usually quick to point out the bad topics, but i think this is a legitimate question and falls under the football discussion. Compare this topic to other threads, which, rather than asking for input, simply posit an idea and then proceed to criticize everyone who disagrees.
  18. We'll have to wait and see when the season gets underway, but I would caution against judging guys based on broad-sweeping classifications. I catch myself doing it sometimes - so and so is "not great in space" - then you watch them play and they're good players in space.
  19. LOL that's a terrible quality gif! If I weren't such a huge fan of the last boy scout I don't think I could have identified it Somebody didn't read the rest of the thread...
  20. 2/2 on the candidates you pointed out Yolo! Nice!
  21. All of this is moot if he's not getting separation anyway.
  22. He got robbed? So much for his "gunslinger" mentality.
  23. Snooze, drum corps actually adds to the gameday experience. Pro cheerleaders aren't a thing that should exist anymore.
  24. Because they have bad memories of him from his rookie season and haven't bothered to pay attention to his progress. The faction calling for him to replaced is likely not the most knowledgable group of fans.
  25. Complainers here are ridiculous. TBD whiners - "We know very little about what Beane actually did as a scout but we've decided to be upset because he wasn't PRIMARILY a scout." OBD- "We've hired a lifelong scout, who is well-respected and knows the division intimately, as Assistant GM." TBD whiners - "What were they thinking?!" For everyone complaining Monos is gone- here's your veteran scout. Much like Beane, we really have no idea how well the hire will pan out because, as subordinates, we don't know how much their input has made a difference in their prior team's FO decisions. What we do know is for the first time in a while we are getting a top to bottom reset and so far all of the people hired have strong work histories and reputations for being hard workers. Can we please stop ignorantly complaining just as a default? Groucho Marx once famously joked that he "would never join any organization that would accept him as a member." It seems like half the people here take that to heart: "he can't be any good because he's here now."
