Fights in the stands during Wild Card Game? WTF?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But what about the other two behind them also fighting. With all the punches thrown, still managed to keep masks on. Security must have figured with on 6700 people we won't need to work that day as in a full stadium they usually arrive faster than this video shows. I will say this wearing a mask in the winters not the worst thing as keeps your face a little warmer. -
Ed Oliver tells Allen "Hold My Beer"

Ah..... they got 6 months to heal! -
Thought the comment about most rookie kickers only playing 13 games was interesting. To me that indicates most weren't drafted, either were signed midway through season, or were undrafted rookies, went to camp, got cut, placed on PS, then were activated either due to injury or poor performance by the incumbent. Bass being drafted in 6th round likely wouldn't have made it through waivers so placed more pressure on both the Bills and him to perform out of the gate. Throw on top of that no preseason or training camp made it even tougher. It would have been much easier and less pressure on him if we had started the season with Hause after 4 to 5 games and a few misses, cut him him and went to Bass. At that point many would have felt, can't be much worse. Instead the Bills cut an established very good kicker, admittedly not so good the past two seasons for a rookie who many felt was a mistake even drafting. Admittedly it took a bit of guts too on the Bills part to draft a QB and kicker both of which may never have seen the field at all this past season. Could easily have made the argument in September we'd have been much better using that draft pick on a LB with both Milano and Edmunds missing a game, and Milano a handful more. One pick worked out very well, the other remains to be seen what will come of it, but can't fault them overall for the selections. Seems to be a pattern here as the calls were mainly from sites like this. Just shows how little people here really know and how impatient and unrealistic fans are.

Anonymous Dolphins players: not sold on Tua
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel a big difference between the two, Allen was made the starting QB his rookie year as he was their best option. Maybe not a very good option, but still their best. In Miami, they took a team with a winning record and a QB playing very well and from what you hear really liked by his teammates and benched him in favor of a rookie. Then even after two times Fitz having to come back into games to bail out the rookie, they went back to him the following week and not get any better play out of him either. Got to believe that would have upset many others on the team. Maybe the issue in Miami isn't so much being upset with Tua as much as being upset with managements decision. -
Roberts inactive this week is my prediction...
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will agree he's got a bit too aggressive over the past few weeks, but in between he also has had some good returns too. Was it 50 plus yards against NE? I highly doubt they will go with 5 WR as you're implying and if they did want to just sub McKenzie for Stills. Stills may be faster, but I'll take 3 years of comfort between Allen and McKenzie over a bit of speed. Even playing 4 of them and having the 5th on the bench ready to spell someone after a deep pass pattern is helpful, but again can be McKenzie. Stills was likely signed in case of injury to someone and also they now have exclusive rights until sometime in March to sign him to a cheap contract for 2021 thus allowing them to more easily cut Brown and not lose the speed piece. -
Jets hire Robert Saleh as HC
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Adam Gase would be a good choice! It is tougher to find that guy as it basically is either going to be some up and coming position coach with likely limited to no experience as a coordinator or someone who was fired. For any existing coordinator it's a lateral move, so not likely to generate interest and his existing team can block it. Then if you're hiring a defensive guy, would you really want to trust the offense to someone who's never called plays. It's much different than if say Daboll gets a HC job and he asks and is allowed to hire Ken Dorsey as his OC. He can work closely with him, but if a guy like Saleh is hired as HC, does make it tough to find the right guy for the OC job. -

Next Season - Potential Coordinators
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think when Frazier was brought in that experience was something McD wanted and really needed to be able to lean on. Now is nice to have, but not needed anywhere as much. If they do go outside considering a number of the position coaches have been here multiple years, if you don't promote from within, run the risk of losing some of these guys as will feel no future here for them. Having said all that, really don't think Frazier is going anywhere. Most hires these days, they all want offensive creativity, the defense is good, but not great, and much of the defensive credit will go to McD anyway. I think for a defensive coordinator to get a HC job, their defense has to be lights out and on a staff where the HC comes from the offensive side. -
In the broadcast, they were saying ankle, but likely stated that on how he was limping around. Could have been just the visual affect was limping like it was the ankle, but the root cause was the groin. Would make sense to as the groin bone is connected to the knee bone and the knee bone is connected to the ankle bone!

Lack of pass rush non factor vs ravens?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On a similar note I've often wondered if that's what makes our offensive line so great at pass blocking? The defenders are afraid to rush to hard for fear of Allen scrambling, but then he does it anyway. -
Eagles fire Doug Pederson

Didn't him and McD coach together under Andy Reid at one time in 2009, looks like they did? -

They do look alike! -
Just like the Steelers, (and Cleveland) they played the same easy schedule against NFC East and AFC South. Could even argue easier as the way it worked out Baltimore played the 1st place teams in the two off divisions which were NE and did have KC. But do feel outside of Buffalo, they may be the 2nd hottest teams right now, admittedly while playing weaker teams.

Pray its the Steelers
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ProcessTruster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Next weekend games time are usually 4 and 8 Saturday and 1 and 4 Sunday. I'd guessing the league will want KC in the Sunday 4:00 slot so would that put the Bills on Saturday again? If the Steelers win tonight that gives the Bills a clear extra day and half more time, granted they don't know who they are playing, but still time to rest up the body (and get coaches interviews out of the way). Even if it ends up being Balt - Tenn still have one extra day of rest. -
How Good or Bad was our Defense,Really?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Buffaloflash's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with comments about a couple of dropped passes by Indy away from being behind by 10 points or so and potentially losing. However I also feel if Indy had scored more, we just would have also scored more. I think the Bills were a bit too conservative in the 1st half, trying too hard to establish the run, etc. maybe was due to very poor field position, but if we had fallen behind the Daboll would have just pressed down harder on the gas pedal and we'd have scored more. With very likely no Moss next week, they should just come out throwing and keep throwing. You can throw many quick 3 to 5 yard passes to, high completion percentage, but moves the chains just as well as a run. Other than the first Pats game, we've struggled all season to establish the run, don't bother trying now. Unless Yeldon has some surprising magically powers kept hidden all season on the inactive list, don't bother trying. Does also bring up the question of Yeldon or Williams. Williams looked good in the Miami game but was at a point where Miami was warming up the buses. I also worry can they trust Williams not to fumble at a key time as really has no experience in the NFL. Couldn't find any stats on him for fumbles during college career. People worry about Yeldon fumbling, but think it's been pointed out was way overblown. Didn't Singletary or another Bills RB have more fumbles per rushing attempt than Yeldon? -
Just read on ESPN Reich's comments on why he went for it on 4th down. He stated: "If you don't make it, they're backed up, they're likely going to be conservative and you have a chance to get it back" Reich felt comfortable going for it because he didn't believe the Bills would aggressively try to move the ball down the field, because it was late in the first half and given where they had the ball. To me this sounds kind of strange, if you thought they were going to be conservative, then likely they'd run the clock out so Indy wouldn't get the ball back anyway. Also in a couple of games this year in the same situation, the Bills were NOT conservative and did exactly what they just did today, went right down the field. Would also have thought the fact that McD called a TO think on 3rd down should have told Indy the Bills didn't plan to be all that conservative as were trying to keep more time on the clock.

With regards to #1 easy way for the Bills to stop Indy from milking the clock, score more points and stop Indy on occasion. Did Indy ever go 3 and out this game? Think the Bills were too conservative in the 1st half, maybe it was due to their poor field position or just got to cute. One drive I recall they ran for 8 yards on 1st down, then on both 2nd and 3rd ran again and think they may have even lost a yard or two. Was talking with someone else who thought that considering the Bills didn't seem to be able to stop Indy, they actually hurt themselves by milking the clock. If they had ran plays faster, they may have had more scoring chances. Think the Bills should use their first round pick on a CB, wondering if they did that, could they move Wallace into the nickel position or would his skills not line up? Or do we need to get a replacement for T Johnson. Seems he's very up and down. Just about when you're ready to give up on him, he has a good game again. Agree with Bill Cowlers post game comments, Bills need to: Run the ball better Stop the run Rush the passer I'll add defend the TE

The designed QB runs need to stop!
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The difference is KC has an actual RB to hand the ball off to who can reliably gain yards. Not very sure we have anything close to that. I do wonder what their plans are for next season to fix this? Are our lineman just real good at pass blocking, but not good at run blocking. Tough at least 3 of our starters were hear last year and did a decent job at it. I sometimes wonder could it be we run so infrequently that mentally our RB's just aren't mentally ready when they are called on? Not in anyway a good excuse, but often a big difference between an acceptable and reality.
