You used Deion Sanders in your example as a player who makes impact plays on the field that aren’t visible and related that to Edmunds making impact plays that aren’t visible because teams are reluctant to throw in his area. Is that not what you’re doing in comparing Sanders impact to Edmunds? The length you will go to, to justify your rationale and then claim the comparison wasn’t your intention is ridiculous beyond measure. Every time Bates went in at C - which wasn’t very often - I thought he looked good, no noticeable drop off, but was surprised when he played well there for a series a couple years ago only to he yanked out and replaced by Mongo. Doesn’t seem like the staff thinks highly of him. He only got his shot this year due to multiple injuries to starters and backups.

Bates is a RFA, right? I’d be shocked if he wasn’t tendered. If Saffold signs, one of the starting guards from last year’s playoffs has to be benched. Anyone know why TEN released him?

If they’re not cheap, we can’t sign them. Are you aware the status of our salary cap? You can make moves to bring in maybe one high profile contrsct, but nothing more than that. Then you’re banking on the other two FA signings outplaying a cheap contract. Highly unlikely.

There’s always exceptions, even Mitchell Trubisky this past year, but that’s why I said “odds are unlikely,” I didn’t say they were impossible. But expecting to sign 3 that eliminates those draft needs? Yeah I’ll say impossible to that.

In FA, you can get a cheap player, but odds are unlikely he’ll be good. You can get a good player, but odds are unlikely he’ll be cheap. There’s no way for a team up against the cap that we can sign a CB, DE, AND DT that will effectively erase those needs in the draft. There’s a 0% chance the Bills take a QB in the first round this year.

The cheap shot on Aaron Williams was so many years ago, but I still harbor ill feelings toward Landry because of it. That hit pissed me off more than Gronk’s on Tre White because it was completely avoidable and wasn’t retaliatory or done in the heat of frustration - it was calculated. Not saying the Gronk hit didn’t upset me, but the one on Aaron Williams effectively ended his career. I vote “no” to Landry.

If it’s between Cox or Jones I’ll take the edge rusher.

I see where the confusion is - that statement was made only in regard to the Bills. I agree, Cooper’s contract relative to his peers isn’t ridiculous so if a team can afford it, good luck! I only questioned the Bills interest.

True, you can get a Listenbee in the 6th, or even another bust of a WR in the first, but it wouldn’t make sense for the Bills to trade for Amari given what he makes, Diggs makes, and Davis is soon to make.

Too many cost-controlled, fast WRs coming out in this draft to justify trading for Cooper and that salary.
