  1. Are there any posters who feel Edmunds is pro bowl worthy and love his game, but want to move on from Star at all costs? I feel there’s a clear divide amongst this board with one side who feels less enamored with Edmunds and want Star off the team, versus the other who feels Edmunds is an impact defender and that Star is a force of a 1DT who consistently commands double teams. Who believes one evaluation to be true, but not the other?
  2. Which is why I don’t buy the “but the defense was gassed!” narrative explaining how the Chiefs got 44 yards in 10 seconds. The Jaguars’ 3rd string QB could’ve made those passes. There were no physical breakdowns, no one got beat due to fatigue. Just a shame that scenario had to happen in the playoffs and not a regular season game. McD is definitely learning some hard lessons.
  3. Was just thinking this myself 😂 I was born in 1980 and thought I was old for these message boards.
  4. It doesn’t have to be an either/or proposition. Yes, the Bills need help along the OL, I’m not arguing against that. Yes, the Bills need help in the secondary. There’s a myriad of factors that cost the team home field advantage and those aren’t all tied to the OL. A boundary CB group aside from White that consists of Dane Jackson, Cam Lewis (who’s really more of a slot), Nick McCloud, and Olijah Griffin, NEEDS a better complement to CB1, and even more so with CB1 coming off a major injury. I’m not only concerned with how the secondary holds up against Mahomes, I’m concerned with how they’ll hold up against Burrow, Herbert, and any other talented QB in the NFL they’ll have to limit next season and in the playoffs.
  5. We expect to be a Super Bowl contender next season and that means the likelihood of facing one of these young superstar QBs in the playoffs is all but a guarantee. I’m not pinning my hopes on Cam Lewis or Nick McCloud to step in and play at a level that negates having a highly drafted corner. We can hope that’s the case, but can’t bank on it and ignore the position.
  6. Taron slipped my mind but I was actually referring to boundary corners. They’re extremely thin there and if history is an indicator, it’s going to take Tre more than a year to round back into form. Wallace… I saw projections of him at $9M/yr, no thanks. CB, or should I say boundary CB, is most definitely a need at this point.
  7. Where’d this stuff about CB being more a want than a need originate? On the current roster we have Tre White coming off an ACL, Dane Jackson, and who else?
  8. Could you imagine if the kick was a squib or a pop up and was miraculously returned to the Chief’s side of the field (or worst, a TD)? We all might be saying how dumb it was not to boot it through the EZ and play 13 seconds of defense. I see the argument for both sides and support whichever decision, but it was the 2 defensive play calls that I felt had no defense or counter-argument. Those vex me more than the kick.
  9. I wonder if Phil McGeoghan wasn’t the Bills receivers coach at the time, if Zay Jones still would’ve been the pick in the 2nd. Also wonder if McGeoghan’s release a year later had anything to do with Zay being a different player than the Bills thought they were getting. Without McGeoghan’s influence, it’s possible they could’ve went Kupp or Schuster at that pick.
  10. For your own sake I hope your private texts are never exposed to the public. If they are, see above for your own nonsensical advice before you get upset. Belichick sent those messages to Flores in confidence, not the internet for anyone to see, there’s a difference. And that’s a breach of trust. And that “crime is crime” mantra is your failed attempt at equating bribery to murder, terrorist attacks, and robbery. Let’s just make it “armed” robbery and put it right there with bribery. I guess you’re okay with that.
  11. Nice of you to go out of your way to equate bribery to murders, robbery, and terrorist attacks. I guess you’re okay with that. You’re also probably okay with someone sharing your private texts with the public, even if it makes you look bad or foolish. Once someone shows they’re not afraid to put private talks out in public, it doesn’t matter what conversations you share with that individual - positive or negative - everything is fair game and you have to watch what you say. Flores showed his true character with the “but they didn’t hire me!” remark he made about Lovie.
  12. I wouldn’t have wanted him on the Bills after he exposed private conversations and demeaned the hiring of Lovie Smith.
  13. They should go knocking on the Texans door. No other team with a franchise QB is giving him up for Chase Young.
  14. Not to mention the Chiefs wouldn’t have had their center and their OL would’ve looked a lot different all year and against the Bills. Not sure why the staff didn’t like Humphrey in the 2nd but he wasn’t a consideration. If you remember, Beane had a deal on the table to move back if Basham was gone. Creed’s RAS was in the 99th percentile, an athletic freak just like Spencer Brown and Doyle, but I guess Beane didn’t think we needed IOL help.
  15. Pretty tired arguing about Edmunds myself, he is who he is at this point and I’d prefer to move on if he seeks a contract north of Milano. But just like Edmunds can’t be blamed for total defensive collapses, Klein can’t either (your worst defensive performance of the season comment). Also, the Jets suck, yes, but so did many of the other QBs the Bills faced this year, wasn’t Edmunds a beneficiary of that as well? Against those poor QBs Edmunds got his hands on 4 pass breakups in 873 snaps, while Klein broke up 5 on 277. Im too lazy to dig into how many of those were passing snaps, but that’s a general comparison between the two. I’m not arguing that Klein is better, but Edmunds isn’t the impact defender you might think he is. What big time play has he made against a good QB? He has regressed every year in impact plays (or splash plays if you prefer that) since his rookie season. It’s a Star Lotulelei type of trajectory.
  16. You ever seen “Cheer” on Netflix? Great show and I don’t care much for the sport, but it very much is one. A whole lot more physically demanding than something like golf and is just as competitive.
  17. Another Carolina connection, but this time from the collegiate level. Just. Can’t. Stay. Away.
  18. Agreed. Definitely wise to do so before the cap went up. Not sold on a lucrative extension for Knox though.
  19. Seeing this photo again, knowing we’d go on to lose the game, is a gut punch.
  20. Yikes. Worst fan base in the NFL.
  21. It’s not a “steal” at the time the deal is made if it makes him the 2nd highest paid player in the league. Some QB like Herbert or Burrow will end up resetting the market in the years to come, yes, but it doesn’t make the current deal a steal if you’re comparing it to future deals that haven’t even been inked. It was fair market value, not a steal, unless you believe he should’ve been given a contract that exceeded Mahomes.
  22. Biggest problem was the defensive plan got caught flat-footed. Seems like they were working under the assumption the squib would take time off the clock, so the prevent D would’ve worked in that scenario. It’s like they didn’t have a backup plan for if no time came off the clock and doubled down by calling the same defensive alignment after both timeouts.
  23. I remember Oliver complained about this very thing when asked about his lack of sacks (was awhile back, two off-seasons ago I believe). He said he just wants to “turn it loose” and get after the QB any way he can, but can’t if it comes outside of his responsibilities in the pass rush. I remember thinking at the time “that sounds stupid, just get there by any means necessary!” I wonder if this is partly why there’s no double digit sack artists in McD’s defense. He hasn’t had one since he’s been here and the one who almost got there freelanced at times.
  24. I don’t put much stock into it. He and his camp will almost certainly ask to renegotiate when other QBs have deals that exceed his, thanks to the ever growing salary cap.
