Wish Jerry well, he just wasn’t the finisher he used to be. My most memorable sack of his was when he whipped All-Pro Joe Thomas for a defining sack. Those days are long gone.

Never thought I’d see the day where WR contracts eclipse CB contracts. There’s a plethora of game breaking WRs in the league, but the same can’t be said for CB. You’d think the more glut of talent one position has, the cheaper the contracts would be, since it’s theoretically easier to replace the position with talent on cost-controlled contracts. Devante Adams’s agent broke the mold. With that said, I’m of the opinion we shouldn’t be shelling out that sort of cash to the WR position and if one is drafted in the first two rounds, it likely means one of Diggs, Davis, or the rookie WR will not see their next contract in Buffalo.

Josh back working with Palmer..

Quite a contrast in jawlines. -
Diggs for Micah Parsons…? Joking, guys, it’d never happen.
-
Yeah, I liked his tape the most, but the Bills never met with him, or any of the other marquee RBs as far as we know.

If it’s more annually than the 2nd round tender, I feel Beane missed this one.

Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]

Saw that Chiefs fans wanted Waddle and 2 first round picks just to get the conversation started. Delusional. -
All Bates can do is sign their offer. Bills would still have 10 days to match.
-
If Bates signs a contract that averages more than $3.9M/yr and Beane doesn’t match, I think it’ll be his one mistake this off-season. I imagine Beane gambled and didn’t tender Bates at 2nd round compensation because he didn’t think another team valued him at $3.9M based on the limited time he was on the field. If he matches, then it’s simply allowing another team to do the contract work for him.

Bills were up against the cap despite having a lot of expired contracts, so this isn’t at all surprising. I wonder how much dead money is on the books.

Minimum for a Diggs extension is set
Brand J replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the league is flooded with good to great WRs, but it doesn’t hold true for those other positions - QB, DE, OTs, and CBs. In that sense I don’t recognize it as a premium position. Similar to RB, it’s not starving for talent. The only WRs I’d break the bank for are the physical freak, future HoFers like Randy Moss. I wouldn’t allow anyone else to approach obscene numbers like $30M/yr, I’d have a percentage allocation of the cap for replaceable positions if I were GM. -
I was just about to post how Robert Woods had a frequent slipping problem while running routes in Buffalo. He fell down a curious amount of times, like he had on sneakers while everyone else was wearing cleats.

Deshaun Watson to Browns - $230 million guaranteed

What I cringed at was making his 2022 base salary $1M so that a potential suspension ducks the chunk of his money. Really, Cleveland? -

Thanks for the article, it was informative. I did say I knew little about the case, except the broad picture. And according to that picture I was sure Watson was, at a minimum, a sleaze ball. The problem I had was posters here saying unequivocally how he was a serial rapist or assaulter as though they were in the room with Watson and the therapists. And when I questioned some aspects of that broad picture, was told I was “victim shaming,” which was ridiculous. I have little doubt there were many situations like “Mary’s” where Watson was engaging in indecent conduct, I believe her. But I can’t jump aboard the “criminal” train and call Watson those heavy names - just because others are doing it - without knowing them to be true. -

Love how you, eball, and others of your ilk roam around with your “oh look, there’s someone to accuse!” rhetoric. Do yourself a favor and abstain from these conversations. You don’t know any more than I know. JFC. -

I’ve said it before, WR isn’t a premium, in demand position. There are receivers coming out every year ready for the NFL. I’d be hard pressed to pay Diggs $25M/yr and I love everything about him from his leadership to his play on the field. Save that money for the QBs, OTs, DEs, and CBs. Those positions are all talent starved. -

No disagreement here. They always say “where there’s smoke…” I typed out above what I believe happened, at least the initial contact, I’m just unsure the resolution, whether it was rape/assault, or women who took money in exchange. And of course even if they took the money they could still feel dirty and uncomfortable about it. -

Epstein preyed on little kids. We’re assuming Watson preyed on women. The only evidence we had of Watson was an apology text to one of them saying he didn’t mean to make her uncomfortable, yes? Again, I’m not trying to prove or disprove Watson’s guilt or innocence, I have no idea what happened. Just asking questions. I simply asked why didn’t one of the women step forward and report the assault to a police officer. That’s not victim blaming, Im not blaming any of them for something I don’t fully understand, I don’t have the evidence, nor do you. And I grew up in a house of women, so don’t tell me I don’t know what they face, buddy. EDIT: and you can roll your eyes until they’re stuck in the back of your head 😂 -

This is an ignorant post. I clearly said I have no idea what the circumstances are behind this case and raised a valid question. It’s not victim blaming. -

What did I say that was inaccurate? Do me that favor and educate me. -

Brand J replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
My issue with that, is if Watson raped or assaulted the women, why didn’t a single one go to a police station shortly after the incident to report it? Why did all 20+ wait until this lawsuit to step forward? I know rape is a subject most women shy away from reporting, but ALL of them? -

My guess - and it’s only that, a guess - is that Deshaun used Instagram to find attractive masseuses, booked appts, then used his money/fame to prey on the girls for sexual acts. Did he rape or sexually assault any of these women? Or were they complicit and paid well for their time? None of us know exactly what happened. My read into the situation could be completely off as well. -
Star released. Pre-6/1 per Joe B, $1.5M cap savings.
Brand J replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was an intimate article if I remember correctly. Something that in-depth and thought out, can we say with absolutely certainty Star didn’t convey those feelings to the journalist? Usually if a statement like that is made it’s because Star himself told the journalist that, or conveyed as much. Otherwise it’d be a striking opinionated line in what is otherwise an in-depth, factually based, editorial piece. -
There was a bookie who put $5,000 on the Bills earlier this year long before any of these signings. Many ridiculed him for going in so early since FA and the draft had yet to be determined, but it’s looking like a good bet.
