  1. Seems like they moved on from the Williams idea with the signing of Quessenberry (sp?) but I’d like to see him brought back. Same with Jerry Hughes, but I’m sure neither would take a vet minimum deal.
  2. Believe I read he only punted for one year. He may be green as grass, but the upside is huge if that’s the case. I look forward to camp goers giving reports of him and Haack punting side by side.
  3. Also pretty ridiculous the chart had it at a 4th and 6th rounder to move up 2 spots (with Bills losing 5 pts). They didn’t maximize their value in those 2nd round trades, ended up losing points, but at least one of those 6s landed Araiza.
  4. No arguments from me in terms of Bojorquez’s holding. He sucked at it and Bass felt it as well. I just think Corey had a higher opinion of himself than what the Bills thought so they went a different direction. Corey never got his big payday either. Here are McBeane’s words to the situation: But anyway, just because Bojórquez could never get it right, I don’t think it’s fair to have all these reservations about Araiza when holding has really never been an issue in the team’s history. It’s not like we’re asking him to run routes against NFL DBs.
  5. I don’t know what he made after he left the Bills, but that’s what happened when he was here. Although I should add it was mostly speculation as to why a deal couldn’t get done in Buffalo, with most believing it was because him and his camp were asking for too much, but the Bills were definitely interested in bringing him back. And Beane commented on it during and after. Bojorquez averaged 50.8 yards in his last season with the Bills, which was 4th best in NFL history, so I’m sure he had a certain value in mind for himself.
  6. Holding for a FG only seems to have become an issue in the aftermath of Bojórquez. I think Araiza’s ability to catch and get the ball down properly is being entirely overblown. EDIT: And Cory wasn’t cut. The Bills wanted him back but he and his agent had a higher price in mind than what the team was offering. Beane then came out with the comment of re-signing players who wanted to be here.
  7. I’ve never seen a RAS score of 1. Yikes. Seems like he didn’t try or take it seriously.
  8. Beane is very loyal to those early round draft picks.
  9. To be fair, most contending teams are in the “if we lose this player…” predicament. Impossible to have quality depth everywhere.
  10. Nick Cross, the safety from Maryland would’ve been my pick in the 3rd. Big guy with some serious speed, would’ve been nice to add that to the secondary. Perhaps Bernard would’ve been available in the 5th.
  11. Can’t have any of these LBers challenging Edmunds, c’mon now.
  12. He never made a visit or talked with the Bills as far as we know, right? It’s interesting they’d choose him over some players who did meet with the team. I’ll reserve judgment on if they could’ve got him at the end of round 5, but I would’ve rolled the dice with a couple of the other prospects first. Hopefully this is a Terrence McGee level steal, haven’t had one of those in quite some time.
  13. “We didn’t anticipate taking a DE back to back last year and then later with the tackles. But if there’s a corner there (in the 2nd) that we like, we’d take him.”
  14. LB Brandon Smith, Penn St. Bills were rumored to be enamored with him.
  15. You don’t think Boogie Basham left a lot to be desired last season? A player picked in the 2nd round on a team starving for a pass rush? I didn’t say he doesn’t have time to improve, I said he left a lot to be desired his first year.
  16. Cody Ford, AJ Epenesa, Boogie Basham (frequent healthy scratch for a team in need of pass rush), and Tremaine Edmunds, given what we thought we were trading up for.
  17. It’s interesting Beane didn’t have a first round grade on Jermaine Johnson, Booth, or Lloyd. I’m also surprised he’d admit that. Let’s hope his grading system proves correct this time, some of his early picks in years past have left a lot to be desired.
  18. They got it half right. They needed REM’s “Everybody Hurts” playing in the background as he read.
  19. Oh, I thought the 11 cloned players would go against a real team? My thought in choosing Kearse is that he was basically a bigger Von Miller and could’ve been an all time great if injuries hadn’t derailed his career. But then again, when you’re that big and that athletic, perhaps injuries are inevitable. I think Bo Jackson ran into a freak injury because he was too athletic for his own body.
  20. Bruce was better on the DL, no doubt, but if you need 11 of them, I think Kearse would hold up much better in the back 7. He probably could’ve played safety!
  21. 11 Jevon Kearses on defense would be hell. Dude was an athletic freak in every sense.
  22. Not arguing that plays over 40 yards happen frequently, but when a player has that skill set and needs to be accounted for, it absolutely forces a defense to play an offense differently. It’s why Beane wants that sort of player in his offense, the threat to take it the distance opens up other opportunities. By the way, I’m not advocating for RB in the first round, the gist of my posts is “if Beane wants this type of player in the offense, I’d rather he found it at the RB position than WR.” If Hall can be that guy, get him. It’s not a luxury.
  23. I think Motor is a fully capable runner. He’ll never instill fear into the defense, but that’s okay. My post was in regards to what Beane covets - an offensive player who can take a 5 yard pass and turn it into a 60 yard TD. He said we don’t have that player on our roster and I said if he were added, I’d prefer it was to the RB room rather than at the glut of receivers. Hall could potentially not only take a 5 yard pass to the house, but also a run where Motor gets 15. TDs and explosive plays are not luxuries.
  24. What makes you think Duke Johnson is capable of being that player? He runs in the mid 4.5s, at least when he tested years ago at the combine, probably slower now. He also hasn’t had one play of over 55 yards in his entire NFL career. He’s not a threat to take it to the house every time he touches it.
  25. If the Bills select Hall, it’s because they believe he’s capable of catching a 5 yard pass and turning it into a 60 yard TD. They don’t currently have that player on the roster and Beane referenced needing that sort of talent. You can draft it at WR and add it to that group, but personally I’d rather have it at RB. He doesn’t have to carry it 25+ times a game.
