Correct. The Jets are another real possibility. What you are paying for is a player that the offense has to account for and scheme around on every single play - something we haven't really had here since #78 retired.

This. The OL was terrible but Allen was, as one lineman put it, "shook" from the jump. Understandably so - but it won't help him to start right away, especially given the brutal schedule. He'll take a beating and they'll be losing games. Better for him to sit and get ready to come in and help them finish the season strong, which will build more confidence heading into 2019. Sorry, that's just the reality of it.

Look at that last picture - at least three of the OL are off-balance and stumbling - the PassPro technique is TERRIBLE.

That is what I've seen. Our guards (and Mills for that matter) seem to be able to ragdoll guys on running plays, yet get bulldozed themselves in PassPro.

We are going to have a boatload of free agent dollars to spend and we might also have a coach and GM facing considerable pressure to re-tune their strategic plan after going from 9-7 to... anyhow, yes, if they made the OL a focus over the next season and offseason they probably could get it sorted. In the meantime, Allen is on the bench, safe from certain death, and learning the playbook.

I agree with Dave and Bandit. Allen was a bit slow yesterday but didn't stand a chance. There is no point in trotting him out there to get his confidence and body destroyed by the patchwork line Beane has assembled. If I were the Pegulas I'd be concerned - and somewhat pissed. Beane and McD finally have a Ferrari, and they're about to leave it out in the elements and drive it around on a demolition course.
