What I can and cannot ask for
bills_fan replied to John from Riverside's topic in Off the Wall Archives
John, going through this myself right now when the hot water tank burst in our finished basement, ruining everything. You need an advocate. I hired a company to do our inventory. The company cost $400 bucks, out-of-pocket, but I will likely make about 10xs-20xs that due to them pointing out stuff I never would have thought of. As for the mold, tell the insurance company you want a certified indoor air quality specialist to test the air quality and for mold. You want everything spayed to kill any underlying mold. I suspect that they will be pulling out your walls (especially any with insulation behind them). Thats what happened in our finished basement. Remember the insuance company wants to get away cheap, you want a nice habitable space that won't cause long-term problems to you and your wife (and kids). For us, they are paying for everything to be dry-cleaned and laundered, new walls/carpet etc. as well as replacement for all of our things (the list is much longer than I would have had on my own). -
Updated version... Bye, Bye Super Bowl Dream A long, long time ago I can still remember How the Bills used to make me smile And I knew if we had one more chance That Marv could make our fans dance And maybe they'd be happy for a while But now the Bills make me shiver With every loss they deliver Bad news on the doorstep I can’t watch one more rep I can't remember if I cried When that kick sailed right wide But something touched me deep inside The day the dream died So bye, bye Super Bowl Dream Drove my Chevy to Rich to see Ralphie’s team Them good old boys at the Big Tree did scream Screamin' this’ll be the day, a win for our team, This’ll be the day, a win for our team Did you watch without saying God Almighty And do you have faith or close your eyes tightly If ole Ralphie tells you so And do you believe in running the ball Can running save Trent from a fall And can blocking be done by a bunch of rookies Well I know that Dickie J will not gamble 'Cause why else punt instead of scramble You knew it was 4th and one And our defense is just done Man that Lee sure can run And Freddy is lots of fun But Trent holsters his gun The day the dream died I started singin' Bye, bye Super Bowl Dream Drove my Chevy to Rich to see Ralphie’s team Them good old boys at the Big Tree did scream Screamin' this’ll be the day, a win for our team, This’ll be the day, a win for our team Now for ten years we've been a joke And Ralphie’s team knows how to choke But that's not how it used to be When Kelly played for Marv and Bill In the K-Gun that gave us such a thrill The stadium rocked, cause of you and me Oh and while the Raiders were looking around Kelly led the Bills to holy ground 51-3 and the game was adjourned This biggest win was returned And while Kelly sat one out Frank Reich proved more than stout The Greatest Comeback left no doubt The day the dream died We were singin' Bye, bye Super Bowl Dream Drove my Chevy to Rich to see Ralphie’s team Them good old boys at the Big Tree did scream Screamin' this’ll be the day, a win for our team, This’ll be the day, a win for our team T.O. ran his mouth in a summer swelter No huddle offense was helter skelter The players tried for a forward pass And Trent landed hard on the grass 2 and 21 against winners and falling fast With Dickie J, our success was not meant to last Monday Night we had a chance Leodis took the ball and tried to dance Smack! Boom! It’s a fumble, Our team began to crumble ‘Cause our players tried to take the field The opponents just refused to yield Do you recall what was revealed The day the dream died We started singin' Bye, bye Super Bowl Dream Drove my Chevy to Rich to see Ralphie’s team Them good old boys at the Big Tree did scream Screamin' this’ll be the day, a win for our team, This’ll be the day, a win for our team Oh in there we were all in one place But the Bills were such a disgrace Ralphie’s got no time left to start again So come on Trent be nimble, Trent be quick Trent just threw another pick Ralphie is Dickie’s only friend Oh and as I watched them try to engage My hands were clenched in fists of rage No football coach born in hell Could break that Dickie J’s spell And as Trent just failed to throw it right And there was no white knight I saw Ralphie laughing with delight The day, the dream died He was singin' Bye, bye Super Bowl Dream Drove my Chevy to Rich to see Ralphie’s team Them good old boys at the Big Tree did scream Screamin' this’ll be the day, a win for our team, This’ll be the day, a win for our team I met Jim K who sang the blues And he handed me a bottle of booze And he just turned away I went down to the sacred ground Where I’d heard Shout! years before But Russ B said the music wouldn't play And in the streets the children screamed The fans cried and nobody dreamed But not a word was spoken The magic spell was broken And the three men I cheered most Bruce, Andre and Thurman They were put on the last train for the coast The day, the dream died They were singin' Bye, bye Super Bowl Dream Drove my Chevy to Rich to see Ralphie’s team Them good old boys at the Big Tree did scream Screamin' this’ll be the day, a win for our team, This’ll be the day, a win for our team

I have never seen the fans this low!
bills_fan replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What he said. And the fact that we were just blown out by a Miami team that I still think we are better than who was missing its best defensive player and its QB. -
I agree with respect to Wetzel (most fo the time), Wojo and Edes, but I am no fan of Passan. His anti-Yankee bias comes out in every article he writes.

If we lose on Sunday, I may need to update my American Pie reference.

The more things change.... See this link for our 2004 thread making Bills parody songs.

Today's NY Post, in discussing how the Jest could stop the run, mentioned that the Bills were playing 8 man fronts and still could not stop the run. That wouold be embarassing if true.

Is that the Born to Run show? If so, he'll never forget hearing Jungleland live. Truly an incredible song.

I went out and watched that whole game in a bar after work last nite. WOW! What an awesome baseball game. I haven't seen a game that good in a long time. Simon, I agree, the 91 series was the best I ever saw. The Tigers left Rodney in because they had noone else they could throw out there with any confidence.

Sorry guys, but I've been lovin' the 4 pm starts. You get all day to spend outside in the nice autumn weather, playing with your kids or playing golf. Then sit down and watch a game as the day starts to wane. I really like having time on Sunday during the middle of the day.

I disagree. Bob Kraft paid $175 million for the Patriots* in 1995. Less than 15 years later they are worth $1.361 billion. Thats more than a tenfold increase in 15 years. Dan Snyder bought the Skins in 1999 for $800 million. Less than 10 years later they are worth $1.55 billion. Thats almost doubling your money in 10 years. Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys in 1989 for $130 million. Less than 20 years later they are worth $1.650 billion. Thats more than a tenfold increase in 20 years. Sign me up for those kind of returns.

Limbaugh & Checketts to bid on Rams
bills_fan replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The interesting part of the article (to me) was the following.... This means that a majority owner of a major pro sports team in another market can be a minority owner in an NFL team in a different market. I did not know that. Paging Jeremy Jacobs, paging Jeremy Jacobs.... -
Pitoniak: "Time for some Cowher Power in Buffalo"
bills_fan replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair point, I stand corrected. Parcells appeared (though didn't win) twice. Doesn't mean Cowher is the right coach. -
Strange...they say we have a debt/value % of 14%. They define debt/value as including stadium debt. I didn't realize we have any debt (outside of, perhaps, short term commercial paper, which really should not be considered debt). Anyone have any insight here?

Pitoniak: "Time for some Cowher Power in Buffalo"
bills_fan replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not a fan of Cowher. He had all the support from ownership and the front office a guy could want, his teams consistently choked or outclassed by Belichik...no thanks. He won't take us to the promised land. There are exactly zero coaches who have won the SB with 2 teams, hell the only coaches to appear on behalf of two franchises are Holmgren and Shula. I'd be in for a guy who has never won a SB, young or old, with a proven record of success. Guys like Marty Schottenheimer or Russ Grimm. -
I agree with your statements in bold. I read a very interesting piece by Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated (you can read it here) on the way Mike Illitch owns and operates the Detroit Tigers. Now, the Tigers are not the best of teams, but they try and have had some success lately, since Illitch owned them. Detroit is a similar market to Buffalo and I think many of the statements are appropriate allusions to the Bills. The most interesting quote was the following: Thats what a sports team is, its more than a business; it is a public trust. And, after yesterday, I'm beginning to lose faith. C'mon Ralph...you invested $25,000 or whatever 50 years ago. Your return to your estate will at least be $750 million. Pretty nice right? Lets spend some cash and go out with a bang....public trust, public trust, public trust, c'mon say it with me Ralph...

I'd also heard that you'd have an easier time if you could produce a copy of a police report indicating your wallet was lost/stolen.

This is the reason I'm spending a few weeks in Jan/Feb on various Carribean islands. They have some great deals right now for travel in Jan/Feb.

Why doesn't the NFL have a short-term IR? Like the 15 day DL in baseball...I don't understand a guy who will miss 8 weeks now missing the whole year because of being placed on IR. Kinda put the teams in a bind, play a man down for 8 weeks and hopefully get your guy back for the last 5 weeks and playoffs or lose him for the year. Kinda sucks there's no short term IR.

I was suprised watching this, figuring the classic 59 Bel Air would perform better than the 09 Malibu, needless to say I was mistaken. Now, if they could only design a decent looking car... http://www.businessinsider.com/beautiful-1...r-safety-2009-9

Interesting comments by Greggo in the article on page 1....taking it with a grain of salt becase obviously hindsight is 20/20, but....
