  1. Imagine you are 25-29 years old, have millions of dollars, the adoration of millions of people and every good looking girl in sight throwing themselves at you. You going to be the same down to earth guy you always were? I can't imagine its easy. And you have "heard way too many first hand accounts," is shaky at best in which to base an opinion. First hand experience (not accounts) that you have had with them is the better way to form an opinion. I'd also venture to say first hand experience while sober is even better. I've had that experience and they are both good guys (as are Talley and Bruce).
  2. Exactly. Permit "marriage" to be granted only by religious institutions. Permit governmental authorities to grant "legal partnership" status. Problem solved. Really disappointing that vote was such a disaster. So many rights and privledges are attached to the word "marriage" and it is a shame that two people in a commitment relationship have such legal barriers, both on the Federal level (as Chef rightly points out) and on the state level.
  3. LOL...Yep. Really obese people can't ride rollercoasters. Saw that this summer multiple times at Hershey Park. Immense fat f*ck gets in seat, bar won't close, high school kid has to tell immense fat f*ck that they cannot go on ride, immense fat f*uck gets all pouty and holds up the ride for everyone else before finally exiting. Why should flying be any different?
  4. He should be lumping John Guy in with Modrak. Guy has, arguably, been worse than Modrak.
  5. True dat Can't argue with this name, I've been advocating it all along...
  6. Just wanted to add about Ad Aware that they were recommended to me by my employer's IT folks. I work at a very large employer and solicited recommendations from them for antivirus when I bought my new machine back in March.
  7. I use Ad Aware from Lavasoft and paid for the license to get auto updates because I'm too lazy to run it myself. I have been happy with it and it guards also an overly expensive computer that I bought.
  8. I thought the title referred to Tiger Woods' mistresses.
  9. Private clubs are not exempted from the rule. My point is that there ought to be choices. If I smoked, I'd have no problem tending bar in a tavern that permitted smoking. If I did not smoke, I would, most likely, prefer a non-smoking environment. That is where your example breaks down. Smoking is a chocie, even amongst the employees. But the point is not really the smoking, it is the precedental value of the government prohibiting (not regulating as in OSHA, there is a difference) an otherwise lawful activity on private property. Dangerous stuff there.
  10. No, not in NY at least. Only place in NY you can enjoy a drink and smoke is open-air rooftops and sidewalk cafes. That was always my contention...let the tavern owner decide. Now, if tavern owners were permitted to decide smoking or non, I think not more than 30% would choose smoking. The market for non-smoking bars would be much bigger than for smoking bars. And everyone wins.
  11. I know this is covered ground, but are you not bothered in the least by the idea that government is banning an otherwise lawful activity on private property? Think about that question for a second.
  12. Thanks. Unfortunately the Bills store does not offer a jersey that would fit my 4 year old son. I have no idea why not, except to limit their own profit. He watches the games with me and understands more and more, even cheering extra hard for Freddy Jackson. Thats the jeresey I want to get him for X-mas, but no accomodating by the Bills.
  13. Dusty in your office too huh? RIP Stefanie My condolences to the Spielman family.
  14. Hey jw, nice write up. One question....has it been definatively confirmed that Wood had a "compound fracture," as that term is defined medically? I know he broke both the tib and fib, but did not know if the bone broke the skin. http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=8083 Sorry for being graphic.
  15. Wonder what would have happened if the government tried to cap-n-trade their output? http://www.realclearmarkets.com/articles/2...ists_97523.html
  16. If true, Ralph really put his money where his mouth is. Good for him. Now, if Shanahan doesn't take that deal, what more could he want?
  17. http://www.upi.com/Business_News/2009/11/2...62061259067068/ What a cool and fun idea.....own the Silverdome. I can only imagine bringing various bands in, monster truck shows, Miss USA pageant (hey, do it for America in Detroit) and you, the owner, hanging out and partying with everyone. I see the script for an awesome comedy movie here...
  18. Not sure about that. He spent Bowlen's money liberally (per Vic Carucci below), but was always will to try and improve the team. With Shanny, you would not see Langston Walker cut two days before camp. I am also willing to believe that the man may have made some mistakes, but learned from them. When someone gets fired unexpectedly, you probably do a little soul searching. I think Shanahan would be terrific with the Bills. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d81474bb9
  19. Poz would be awesome in a 3-4. He would be a Chris Spielman-like playmaker. It hides his lack of speed a bit more than a 4-3. Of course, if we go 3-4, does this mean we take a big run at a free agent NT? Wilfork? I think the SD guy and the Pit guy may also be free agents.
  20. You know, the symmetry of it all would be great. I'd have no problem if Marty was brought in to head the team.
  21. jw, thanks for the great read.
  22. Anyone hear anything else on how Wodd's surgery went? I haven't seen anything on iit such as the specific procedure he underwent. Thanks in advance.
  23. Bummer. Marty (with fire in the belly), would have been a good coach.
  24. I totally agree with you. I'm not convinced Cowher is that great of a coach. He had a structure that was second to none in Pitt, with a future HOF DC in LeBeau (remember what he did in 2004 for us, pretty awesome for one year), a great OC in Whisehut, great OL coach in Grimm. That was a terrific staff. Contrast that with Marty, who has worked in various scenarios with many different types of people on staff. I'd be far more excited by Marty than Cowher. Of course, Shanahan is the holy grail for me, but I'd be very happy if we played Marty-ball should Shanahan decide to go elsewhere.
  25. I'm going to wait until Chris Brown reports it. You know with Brown that the story will always be right. You may have to wait for it, but you can take the story to the bank.
