  1. Depends. Assume you attend 3-4 games a year live (either at RWS or a Bills away game , like at the Meadowlands), plus the MNF and Thursday. Lets say you go out to a bills backers bar twice a year. Now you are really only looking at 8 games per season...big difference there.
  2. Looks like the area around my office is about to beocme a zoo. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_guantanamo_us_trial
  3. This chart says more than anything. The dollar index vs. the S&P 500 from March through now.
  4. I don't know too much about Ryan Mallet, the QB we are projected to take in the 2nd round, but the guy is 6'7" and 240 with a cannon (per the scouting report). Thats the type of big guy we need behind a bad OL. Not an injury risk like Bradford.
  5. Problem is that the top 3 or 4 QBs may already be gone by the time we pick, which was the point of my posting of that mock. I don't want to reach for the 4th or 5th best QB, when I could get the #1 or 2 rated LT or DT. Then I take the QB or even a LB in Round 2.
  6. Now that Edwards is coming back, I think TE has to know that he is playing for his job next year. These next 8 games should be very revealing with Trent. I think we decide QB or LT based upon three factors: 1- How TE finishes the year 2- Where we pick and who is likely available (no reaches!) 3- If we think a decent QB is available in Round 2. Lots of QBs with decent ratings right now...Clausen, Locker, McCoy, Tebow, Bradford etc. How many teams go QB in the first 42 or so picks? Also, its no gurantee that we draft either. This mock has us picking 10th and taking DT McCoy. They also have 4 QBs going in the top 10 (along with 2 LT, Suh and Berry). They have us with Ryan Mallet in Round 2 at QB.
  7. Can't argue with the 1st LT off the board.
  8. I had to post it.... Lassie
  9. More from the BEST organization in sports... A little more infor on this... http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/articl...sp&c_id=nyy http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/yankees/yan...muN0qDZsCjmDD2N I wonder if noted haters like Jeff Passan can even comprehend what the Yankees do and mean to people?
  10. Exactly. 16 teams, 4 weeks to play out. Drop the # of regular season games from down to 11 max plus one for the title game. I would not limit to 2 per conference (some conference could have 3 in certain seasons), but all 11 conference champs make the field. The 5 at large teams are decided upon by a committee, much like the NCAA basketball selection committee. The basketball committee usually gets it pretty much spot-on. The committee uses the polls, the level of competition faced etc. to decide the at-large teams. The committee would actually watch all of the at-large candidates and review their resumes to see if they get in the dance. Any debate between the 5th at large and the team dubbed number 6 would likely be inconsequential. You can use the bowl game sites for the games, that way you perserve some of the bowl system. Any team not making the field is free to play any bowl game it can get invited to. It would be a sick tournament...with massive potential. Just look at this... Here's the 2nd round... 9 USC vs. 1 Fla 10 Iowa vs. 2 Texas 4 TCU vs. 12 Pitt 3 Ala vs. 6 Boise Someone else take the next round...
  11. I was at the CLE-Bills game this year. Worst NFL game I have ever seen. And, when factoring in that the weather was relatively decent, its not even close. It was after watching that debacle that I pretty much gave up on our season this year.
  12. I think I would throw something through my TV if we take a DB. Absolute meltdown.
  13. Yes, he was 2006 MVP. But, he was also 2009 NLCS MVP. And I disagree with you regarding how valuable Howard is to the Phillies. You think Utley would see the same fat pitches to hit if you or I were hitting behind him?
  14. You do realize that Howard won NLCS MVP right? I would not call him overrated in any sense. And, last I looked, the Dodgers had multiple LHPs in their bullpen, same as the Yankees. So, he obviously did something right in the postseason, bad WS notwithstanding. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-n...p&type=lgns
  15. No offense intended, but please look at the stats before making these comments. On Sept 1, 2009, Ryan Howard was hitting .275. Howard made MAJOR strides this season in his approach to hitting. His AVG by month... Apr .288 May .250 Jun .245 Jul .290 Aug .299 Sep .288 Howard also is quite predictable in terms of monthly trends. April is his worst moth, followed by June. He usually has a great May and a decent July. He goes nuclear in Aug and Sept. This year Howard has made major changes in his diet in an effort to become a more consistent player. This article provides some good insight on him as a player and a person. As for the strikeouts, Howard's 2009 does not even make the top 10. Yes, he strikes out, but please consult the stats before making claims regarding 190 strikeouts. The all time single season top 10... Player Strikeouts Year 1 Mark Reynolds 223 2009 2 Mark Reynolds 204 2008 3 Ryan Howard 199 2007 Ryan Howard 199 2008 5 Jack Cust 197 2008 6 Adam Dunn 195 2004 7 Adam Dunn 194 2006 8 Bobby Bonds 189 1970 9 José Hernández 188 2002 10 Bobby Bonds 187 1969 As for fielding, Howard has made excellent strides this year as well in order to try and become a complete player. Check this link out that discusses the strides Howard made this year in becoming a better fielder. He was not that far off from Texiera in fielding metrics this year. I read an article around spring training (can't find it right now) that discussed Howard's fielding approach and how hard he worked at it. Now, the only point you made that was on the money...vs. LHP. Howard's AVG has declined four consecutive years vs. LHP, barely over .200 this season. His power numbers have also declined 4 straight years vs. LHP. Given the articles I've read on Howard, I think he will address this area over the winter. He is a prideful person and was embarassed in the WS. Methinks he'll win his second NL MVP next year as he pulls his numbers vs. LHP from awful to at least barely respectable. No offense intended by this, and yes, he is one of my favorite players (the WS was the only time I ever rooted against him since I first saw him in AA). He wants to be like Pujols and is working like hell to get there. Is he complete yet? No, but I wouldn't bet against him next season.
  16. This is not true at all. A beer can still be a beer up much higher than that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer#Alcoholic_strength
  17. Would that include changing the radio when a crappy song or comemrcial comes on?
  18. Farthest thing from overrated. Ryan Howard is the best power hitter in baseball. His tears are legendary. So are his slumps. Howard utterly destroys RHP. That was why Marte started the 8th rather than Mo last nite. Howard's kryptonite is LHP. The only time Howard was able to hit LHP was 2006 after working with Tony Gwynn. He won MVP that year and hit .313 with 58 bombs. If Howard kept up the hot tear he was on, you would have likely seen a very different World Series.
  19. Ralphie keeps listening to his accountant and pocketing his money. The Bills made what, $40 million last year, according to Forbes? $40 millionwould have gotten us Haynesworth (in his up front, year 1 money) and then maybe we would not be allowing 200+ rushing yards per game. Gotta spend the $$$ Ralphie.
  20. See, you can be a fiscal conservative and leave the social issues to the states. Thats the candidate I'm waiting for. A true conservative would limit the powers of the Federal government to the enumerated powers in the Constitution, leaving everything else to the states. At that point, gay marriage, abortion etc., become state issues to deal with as they see fit. If they accept that philosophy, you could see a GOP rebirth.
  21. Thhhhhhee Yankees win! Thhhhhhhhhee Yankees win!
  22. I was waiting for someone to use "What about the chillllldren?" Pathetic. Johnson is a POS, but he can say what he wants. Already, this has gone too far IMHO. Of course, I also thought Sean Avery got a raw deal over his sloppy seconds comment.
  23. Good point. Thats why we need to keep voting against incumbants of both parties until someone will cut spending, balance the budget, reform health care and Social Security and, only then, cut taxes.
  24. I don't think its a referendum on just the Dems and Obama, but more of an anti-incumbant movement. People want goevrnment to stop meddling and lower their taxes. Taxes was THE big issue in NJ. Doesn't bode well for Obama's big government agenda. People are seeing incumbant Dems and Reps as part of the problem.
