Yes, the Bills play-action on 1st and goal and it's ridiculous. The Pats do it and they are genius'---be consistent guys. You just have to execute.
-
How about vastly underestimating the effect of one of your top players. Then not going out and picking up another or drafting another. Bad, bad, bad, move that crushed this defense this year. Sometimes you have to slightly overpay for a guy--especially when there are no replacements out there. PW at 4M/year does not break the bank! Especially now that we will have to overpay for another DT to come in and help with the DL.

Excellent article on HC candidates for Bills.
Ray replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If those are the candidates I see visions of GW and MM again. -
You act like they have a chance to win. Bills on the road and running for the bus finiash 4-12. TD and MM are let go. Jim Haslett just interviewed says if he is let go there are a coule of jobs out there he would really like. He's the one guy in football who considers the Bills HC his dream job.

It can't get much worse--except missing the playoffs for 10 straight years maybe!

Roscoe Parrish was the dumbest draft pick
Ray replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Roscoe will be a good player for the Bills. I agree the problem was that he was not a need! Again, we were drafting skill positions instead of fortifying the most important positions the OL and DL (after we left both Jennings and PW go). -
Chad Johnson talking about endzone celebrations
Ray replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, this game has San Diego written all over it with another TD or two! -
I guess the bright side is we picked a good year to be really bad. It would be pretty depressing to go 11-5 and be shut-out from the playoffs. At least this year we did it right. Be putrid, get rid of the GM and coach and start anew......again.

Class act! Great defensive coach and a good HC. The biggest complaint here was that he didn't wear a headset. Are you kidding me? I'd be ecstatic if that was our biggest complaint on this team. He was a very underappreciated coach here, and I think people start to see that now. He always speaks very well of the area and if you remember a couple years ago when the Giants wanted him as their DC he declined and said he is a Western New Yorker and not a New Yorker.

I live in Boston and if I could have my job in Boston moved to Buffalo I would move to Buffalo in a second. Things that are great about Buffalo are the ease of life, very good quality of life and of course the people! Yeah, it's not NYC or Boston or LA---but it doesn't claim to be! It is comparable to Pittsburgh and Cleveland. A small version of Chicago. Weather doea leave something to be desired but move to anywhere in the Northeast/New England?Midwest and the weather stinks for 5-6 months. That is not unique to Buffalo.

The Official Mooch for Bills coach thread

Haslett---but he has to apologize to Kent Hull -
I like Cottrell as well. Players loved him, played hard for him, he'd make adjustments and treated players well. He would get fired up and had a lot of emotion. I think players respond to that. He has done a real nice job at Minnesota, but I don't think he'll get any HC jobs. He would have been the best fit after Phillips and if you remember many of the players Moulds, Washington, etc were lobbying for Cottrell to be the HC. TD chose the guy who had a list of assistant coaches that gave us one of the worst coaching staffs ever assembled here.

The good thing about JP is that at times he looks really good. He has hit some great passes. Overall you see he is young and is slow to make quick decisions. That should come with time. One thing I really like about him is his attitude and work ethic. That's something RJ and all other QBs post-Kelly lacked. I would really like them game plan to his strengths using his mobility. That takes pressure of the pass rush as well.

Wade is a great football coach, specifically a defensive coach. He has been a head coach I believe for 5 seasons and never had a losing record! Pretty darn good.
-
He signed a five year 7.5M contract. Does Ralph want to eat 3 years of that contract, TDs extension and all the other coaches? Probably not. TD is likely gone as GM, but who knows from there.
-
Wouldn't take much to convert his cap figure to about 5-6M. Just do it, you have your receiving corps then go out and fix the OL and DL!

anyone else wanna see our rookie rb play....
Ray replied to billrooter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, he was a very good runner in college but got injured. He had a great preseason too! Put him in there. -
They actually realize how good he is and how valuable he is to this team. And they saw what life without him would be like last week and this week. And it doesn't look pretty. Sign Moulds again and re-negotiate his contract.

Saban was not coming here. Saban for coach of the year? Honestly--that team is like the Bills. So they beat the Jets yesterday---barely. They beat the Bills---barely. They should go 8-8. That team has very good defensive talent. Saban taking a team like that to 8-8 at best 9-7 for coach of the year? Come on! They have one good win all year, at San Diego. Remember they were 3-13 last year and beat the SB champions. Every team is good for one good win out of 16 games. Saban showed his college nature saying the team doesn't care about winning a few weeks back.

You mean a DL like Pat Williams?
-
Would not mind at all trading him for a high pick if it could be done. Also would give lionel Gates a shot at the back-up role with two games left. The kid is a good runner. I don't know if his blitz pick-up and passing skills stink, but I really thought he would be the back-up this year. I like Willis, but lately it strikes me as a lack of motivation. He has been thinkinbg of going back to South Beach since the temp dipped below 50 in lateOctober.

Bills still not out of the running...
Ray replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Number one picks overall are pretty much set up for failure. They are "supposed" to be the franchise because they are number one in the draft. We better hope the Bills don't pick number one. It is a set-up for failure most of the time. Even if the player is good he gets labelled a bust. The majority of times they are very poor value for the pick. Cost way too much for what they give you. -
Hire Ted Cottrell!
-
So a player trying to make extra yards when his team is down 2 TDs is the biggest knock you can come up with? A WR who provides your team with the only offense? 9 receptions for 100+ yards and you are anxious to get rid of him? I guess that means gutting every WR, RB and QB on the team as well.

How is it that when the Bills are up 7-0
Ray replied to Anon Y. Mous's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Presumably they have had to do this before, right? When he was at Pittsburgh he had to actually adapt didn't he? What the heck happened to these guys? Do they just freeze? The game day decisions are just abysmal. No balance whatsoever---run between the tackles on first down, 2nd and long, a penalty, 2nd and even longer, an incomplete pass on 2nd, and then another incomplete pass or sack on third down. If you ever listen to Belichick speak he is amazing. Balance is key. Run and pass on 1st down. Runs of equal number behind LT, RT, sweeps. Balance in terms of short, medium, long passes. Crossing patterns etc.... Basically nothing you would equate with the Bills.
