I agree both lines need to be addressed but the most glaring defeiciency on this team is the DL. It was soooo evident last night that this DL is woefully bad. How many 3rd down conversions? Worst run stopping defense in the league. You can address the OL in many ways. Look at the Pats (Neal, Ashworth, Coppen etc..) 2 undrafted free agents and a third round draft pick. Then look at their DL. Warren, Wolfork, Seymour. All first round picks and great players. Both lines need to be addressed. Good thing is that a player or two on each line candramatically improve the lines.

Upgrade the DL first! The run defense is the worst in the NFL. The WORST! Sign G Jackson if we can, draft a DT or DE, then address the OL.

How is it that when the Bills are up 7-0
Ray replied to Anon Y. Mous's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is soooo true. It seems every game they start off strong get very satisfied with themselves and fold their tents. It is amazing the failure of this team to adapt. I think the original drives are well scripted and prepared but then the defense changes and the Bills do not. Same thing last night. -
Keep Milloy. We have no SS and we will not draft any SS 50% the player of Milloy at this point. Coy Wire is not the answer. Milloy is still second on the team in tackles and plays the run well. Your FS should be able to cover well and I think Vincent has just aged too much. He is a classy good guy, but time has caught up with him. You can find a good FS easier than a good SS.

Keith is right! Moulds, Fletcher and TKO are guys you want and need on this team. I only wish we had 22 other guys who played as hard as they do. Those three are the heart and soul of this team. The Miami contigent will freeze up when it's cold. Many on the defense are too old. If things continue gor McGee I would add him next year to these three. Getting rid of Moulds is te equivalent of getting rid of PW--a well respected talented player who loved playing in Buffalo. How did that decision work out for you Donahoe? How's the 31st ranked D this year? Run defense was stellar last night on those 4 80+ yard drives.

We're headed to 0-16? Is that the right direction?

For the VERY few who do not want a HC change
Ray replied to KOKBILLS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we want to continue to be the Buffalo Cardinals then keep TD and Mularkey. TD has drafted well overall but been stubborn in re-signing FA---namely PW. A top shelf run stuffer in this league is essential to succeed. He offered a contract to PW before the season starts but then never contacted PW after the seawson to try and re-negotiate. MM is a weak HC. He called out WM in public, benched Moulds and Adams and has lost his team. He also complains when the other team scores on us late in a game--Oakland. Maybe your team should actually stop the other team from scoring. That would be a concept now wouldn't it! -
O-Line Not as Important as Skill Positions
Ray replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amazing how the Pats constantly find 5th and 6th round college guys to come in and fill the void for their team. Nor 1st round draft picks. Guys with smarts, the will to learn and play hard and they coach them well. Tom Brady makes them look great. I don't think our OL is as bad as some say. If our QBs make some passes, RBs run a little better and the WRs catch balls thrown their way things change pretty quickly. And the play calling could sure be better. Our coaches out think themselves too often. Remember the "our OL is so bad" claims when RJ was QB. Well the same OL went from having the most sacked QB to the least sacked QB in a week with a QB replacement. That one replacement was Flutie. So your point on the post does have some merit. -
A sell out, great fans, and other thoughts
Ray replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed! MM should be gone as well as Vincent. The Bills NEED to bring Moulds back--it has been made abuntantly clear over the past two weeks and this season really. Our team makes excuses (injuries etc) while the Pats lose 7/11 offensive starters and still win. -
Nice guy--over the hill!
-
Best player for the Bills on the field tonight. Hands down---did you actually watch the game? Did you watch last week's game minus Moulds? Yeah great idea to get rid of him. Much like it was a good idea to get rid of Pat Williams.
-
This is the receiver who people want as the #1 WR next year. People take a good look if Moulds is gone--last week was a disaster. Tonight minus Moulds 9 receptions would have been the same.
-
I hope you're right--especially that it's a nationally televised game.
-
They've got the best player (Tom Brady) and the best coach in the NFL hands down. Best prepared team in football. They lost their whole defensive backfield and 4 of 5 starting OL this season. The Bills couldn't even remain competitive with a healthy roster.

Glad people are going. I have Club seats in the P McGuire section. Not making the drive from Massachusetts to go to the game though. Had it meant something I would be going. Enjoy the game and cheer loud--not sure how many will be going.

Am I the only one who thinks Losman is better?
Ray replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Holcomb may be slightly better at this time in his career. JP long term gives us the best chance, however. Quite honestly for a first year QB he has done pretty well. Especially for a guy who played for a poor college team. I wish they would utilize his talents better--mostly his mobility. Bootlegs, QB draws, roll-outs, moving pockets. Those are things that also slow down a pass rush. The two things that are MOST important for a QB accuracy and quick decision making Holcomb does better right now. Because of that he is the better QB (just a little right now), but I think JP has learned a lot this year and those things come with time. -
Fassell is a weak coach--I agree. I still think T Cottrell would be a great fit for the team and this city. He loves Buffalo, is a great coordinator and players play hard for him. His defensive philosophy is better as well. We fail to adjust and do the same things against the Pats the last 10 times we've played them and are 1-9.

How Do Other Teams Treat Their Senior Leaders?
Ray replied to JDG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Moulds is THE leader on this team all is very well respected by his teammates. Did you pay attention whatsoever to the events of last week? The players really responded well to their coach huh? Being a tough guy when you're MM does not work. Maybe if he wins a couple of SB's (it won't be with the Bills), he can act a bit tougher. He has created a soft, resentful team right now who has quit on him. -
Cottrell is a perfect fit. He has had success everywhere he has coached. Players love playing for him--look at the ex-Bills who migrate to where he coaches. He loves Buffalo and has a great attitude and relationship with players. I would be ecstatic if he became the next coach. He should have beaten out GW the first time around. He wanted to keep many of the defensive guys around (Big Ted etc..), but TD knew better didn't he. Keith Newman, Big Ted, PW all players that could be replaced! Now 5 years later we are no better, and are at the bottom of the league in both offense and defense--pathetic. This whole organization needs a new infusion of attitude and a new environment. The culture of losing has definitely taken over. Nice for the coaches to alienate the players too.
-
Haslett has become a joke----too bad he had been a rising star and a Buffalo favorite.. The more he speaks the less attractive a candidate he is.
-
Insulting and making disparaging remarks about an owner's daughter never helps your cause either! Hey, I likePolian but he has a temper and is not the most tactful guy in the world.
-
Losman was making progress, has a much better attitude than RJ, but had one bad game. It's okay--actually knowing he injured the shoulder makes he happy in a way knowing his accuracy probably isn't as bad as demonstrated last Sunday! I still think he can be quite good. Good arm, great mobility (maybe could be used once in awhile), and quicker release and decision time with more experience. Everyone said they were willing to go threw growing pains after DB---well this is what it is like. Look at Palmer and little Manning now.
-
I do agree that TD and GW when they came in were way to arrogant. Their system apparently was the best. Failing to realize the Bills had very good defenses prior to their arrival was a major mistake. P'ing off Ted Washington, implying he was too fat to play for GW and getting rid of good value players like Newman was a very bad move.
-
Milloy has produced--and continues to be a top 10 SS in the league.
-
what about GW and MM? Posey is a role player who is average. If that was TD's biggest ailure we'd be a perennial playoff team right now.
