Marcus Vick is the perfect fit.....
Ray replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marcus Vick is a punk with no character! Therefore he won't be a Bill. Plus he stinks and at best may be a third string QB for a team. -
Having a great D-line helps. Also helps playing Texans and Titans twice and San Fran. But the good thing is, is that we a few moves puts the Bills closer than you think. How about Grady Jackson next to Adams on the DL. Then either of the two great DEs in the draft (ones from NC state and BC). Immediately the defense is like two years ago provided Spikes comes back!

A thought on two possible players we might pick
Ray replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree--one of those four picks can/should likely start right away. They are all good players and would be great picks for us. Marv has said he wants to start with defense. -
Are you aware Bellicheck has not had a winning record without Brady? Maybe Brady is the genius. He is the best QB of the past 25 years---yes better than Montana. It would be hard not to be a great coach with Brady as your QB! Hey I think Belicheck is a great coach, but he doesn't win one SB without Brady!
-
You're absolutely right. Marv has a good feel for players and people and chemistry. That goes a long way. I think we were all happy with the teams of Polian and Butler. Marv had a lot to say on the players drafted as well. He has great judgment, brings instant credibility, and provides a winning atmosphere. This organization has been missing that for some time. Plus press conferences just got a bit more entertaining.

Any one of us could take the team and not make it a playoff contender for the next 5 years and we would =Donahoe's record! Hey, it's the truth. I actually kind of feel sorry for the guy. He seems like a nice guy, but he completely failed! Big time. 0 for 5---impossible to do worse

mort's makin' some excuses for td over at espn.com
Ray replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How do you spin the GM who assembled the only AFC team to not make the playoffs in 5 years? That is the bottom line. At the time I agreed with many of TD's decisions. What I didn't like was the way he originally came in with GW---firing well liked players, firing Dwight Adams, etc.... I think Modrak will be gone after this year as well--he's on for one year of continuity. -
Interesting!

Better off getting great OL and DL and finding an average QB who can make some plays. You can then fill in with great skill players. Probably a better road to take than trading away number one picks for QBs.

Losman's "attitude" turned off teamates
Ray replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If JP wins nobody complains. I do feel bad for the kid because they are in a way blaming him for the teams record. Like someone pointed out earlier look at the Bears. They won with an awful rookie QB. The team ranking last in the league in third down defense and red zone defense is not excusable! Maybe that had something to do with the record! I think he is an easy target. From everything I read and heard the kid worked his butt off all year. He played awful at times and did deserve to be replaced at times. But to blame him for the season is bad. Not only that, but that has got to make it tough for him in the offseason. Coming back into a situation next year is going to be tough. -
They will like him if they win. That's what they don't like---losing and losing bad.

Hopefully Marv would bring along Dwight Adams. Although if Modrak stays on that won't happen. Modrak=Donahoe as far as I'm concerned. I think this team would have been much better off with a great OL and DL and an average QB rather than drafting the likes of Parrish, McGahee, Losman etc.... Had they bolstered the lines, kept PW and kept a talented supporting cast and had an average QB this team could definitely compete. Is JP the future? I don't know but are people willing to endure two more straight 5-11 seasons to find out? He better come back and be able to accurately throw a 10 yard out. I do like his work ethic and mobility. I just hope he calms down and plays. For those stating Marv was just a good coach b/c of talent---so is every coach. Belichick never has had a winning record without Tom Brady as QB. Brady is the best QB in the game in the past 25 years. I think Belichick is one of the best coaches ever, but he's no good with no talent. At least Marv got something out of those teams with talent. The Bills have had talent and last year were loaded with talent and went 9-7!

Cottrell with a good shot at Vikes job
Ray replied to Last Guy on the Bench's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jets were soooo happy to get rid of him and there defense was so spectacular this year. They were what 28th in defense. Getting rid of Cottrell really helped their cause! -
I would love it too. I think Promo lives in Boston too--and Pioli is NOT going anywhere but the Pats.
-
Pioli is NOT coming so give up on it.

In his defense every pattern is not made to go 9 yards! On a third and 9 sometimes the defense dictates what you can do. On a blitz the hot route may only be a guy who has time to go 5 yards. If you recall on Roscoe Parrish's catch and run last week against Cinci it was a third and 18. I don't recall people yelling that he made the catch about 10 yards short of the first down marker. Sometimes you drop it off short because the longer routes aren't open and the receiver has to make a play. It is the same on WR screens near the goal line. Not every player has time to run a 10 yard route. Ideally yes--but do you want your QB throwing into triple coverage to the WR who ran the longest route or to a drop-of guy who is open but then just has to make one man miss?

Final Taping of the Eric Moulds Show tomorrow!
Ray replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Givens is so good why isn't he a number one receiver now? He is a good receiver. Not as good as Moulds. He has size but does not have the talent as a number one. He would be a good number two or three. -
Final Taping of the Eric Moulds Show tomorrow!
Ray replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Givens is nowhere near a number one in this league--especially without Brady. He'd be a good third WR which leads to the question who would our number one WR be? Re-structure Moulds--it makes sense. -
Nice win playing the Pats practice squad. Miami is average at best. They had one good win this year at SD. The Bills had two--KC and Cinci. Miami is in the same place the Bills are--need a QB and OL.

Hysterical!!!!!

Stats don't really mean anything for most DTs. Many have about 20 tackles all year. The important thing is that they are tough run-stoppers and teams double team them to stop them. When teams needed 3 or 4 guys to block PW and Sam Adams I think you saw how tough a defense can be. They didn't have great "stats" in terms of tackles and sacks but their contribution was enormous. If this kid is good enough to demand double teams in the NFL he is worth a pick.

If you went to the games Moulds WAS open. He just wasn't getting the ball. I don't care if he has 9 receptions for 90 yards and only averages 9 yards per catch. That means the Bills have moved the ball and are keeping possession. Moulds is going to have close to 80 catches this year despite missing one game. Where are you going to get 80 catches a year to replace him? The answer is you're not. He is a great complement to Evans who has better speed and potential to catch the long ball. But Evans is not ready to be a number one guy. I think we all saw enough of the offense without Moulds and it was awful. Restructure Moulds. He wants to stay and if you cut him and pay him 6M not to be here and sign anyone good enough to replace him you're going to need to pay another at least 3M/year. So you'd be taking a cap hit of about 9M anyway, which is about what you pay per year for resigning Moulds.

Holcomb made quick accurate throws. That was/is the difference. JP, by his own admission stated had he made throws early in games that takes pressure off the OL. Why stop blitzing when the QB can't make an accurate or correct throw to open receivers. If they blitz and the QB makes a couple throws then the blitz is ineffective and the OL blocks less men. It takes two. It's amazing how the same line looks good with one QB and not the other. Also occurs with RBs as well.
-
He has a QB whobthrows the ball accurately and on time. I was at the Bills/Pats game in Foxboro and it was the same thing. Moulds was open te vast majority of time and Holcomb made the throws. It's that simple. The Pats game was before the suspension and he was playing great.
