  1. Beats me. Snowbirds? Population drain? I don't blame anyone for leaving OH. I'm open to a trade!
  2. I don't buy into the cold weather thing. If it's cold, slippery, sloppy, it's the same for both contestants. Wind - yes...a QB and his wrs learn to know what's what in their home stadium. It's not like the Bills have whacked the daylights out of the competition in December...when they've won, they were likely out of it anyway, and some teams showed up just going through the motions. I'd never draft or acquire a QB with that in mind. What do people want? A QB that stinks when the weather is OK but does a little bit better in the cold? He goes 10 for 25 and the opponent goes 8 for 25? Pyrrhic victory..
  3. All things being equal...or not... http://www.buffalonews.com/2010/02/26/9705...over-white.html
  4. Nah...Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, Nakajima, Yokosuka etc. Toyo was a minor player back then.
  5. I'd add that S. Rogers fans check out the status of his broken leg, also.
  6. This guy is reminding me of that mylar saucer hoax of a few months ago...
  7. Nah - they draft 224+ players. Darned it I know much or anything about the lower-round players.
  8. Thanks! Any and all opinions are welcome.
  9. Don't be thick. See - you call them low life. My wife and me take a Saturday breakfast out, at a chain named Frish's. Two eggs and dry rye toast for her. Me...1 egg, 2 white toast, hash browns, 3 pc. bacon - one piece forked over onto my wife's plate. Bill? $11.08. 2 dollar tip. We are there about 45 minutes. In that time, my rather elderly waitress probably waits on 30 other tables. Gets that reduced minimum wage. but probably pocketed 50 bucks in tips. Got a guess about how much that was reported as income? She told us in January about her fab cruise to the Caribbean in December. A trip to Branson is in the works. The outfit (not unusual) has a strict plan to allocate tables to this or that waiter or waitress. We once seated ourselves ( ) and witnessed a fight over who had the rights to the table. We mere downtrodden customers had to watch a loud fight.
  10. He was a master of the ill-timed INT. IMO.
  11. Yikes!...what a bundle CLE spent on him. Maybe they got a payback somehow, though - after his big season, they played in several prime time games the following season.
  12. Tsk. You missed an opportunity to flaunt the unique powers of the Inner Circle...
  13. This is insufficient, NG. I'm used to you providing a straight line, that I can hit out of the park.
  14. I recall your tale about letting your wife drive your AWD Pacifica over a long distance with a dangerous bubble in a tire sidewall, because you balked at the AWD requirements of unequal tread depth (tire diameter) causing damage to the drive train. Here you are now, railing away. When it came to your own pocketbook, you chose to ignore a substantial risk to your own "loved one". Get off your high horse, look into a mirror, and fling your finger of blame where it belongs.
  15. The car gently rolled into the back of the cruiser. Do you think Toyota launched some grand conspiracy, and now is backpeddling with a cover up? They most certainly did not want these problems to happen...Toyota has made da*n good vehicles for many years. It would be insanity. I have no evidence, but I rely on my experience in auto manufacturing and technology - my guess is that most every manufacturer out there is aiding Toyota to get to the root of this problem, as well as world-wide suppliers. I appreciate your auto opinions, EEI....but you might be stepping out of your technical depth re this issue.
  16. Yes - those rotors do, but not something needed in conventional usage. And the consumer would be dismayed at the replacement cost. The "redundancy" systems add another layer of complexity - I think you are referring to the throttle shut-down upon pressing the brake pedal technology. I'm on the fence about such systems, with the added layer of complexity.
  17. Interesting point. If the brakes were clamping without enough force to stop the vehicle, the generated heat would begin to boil the brake fluid. I wonder if there's a fluid problem...certainly an avenue to investigate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brake_fluid My last job was in the manufacture of motor additives - most products were for the provision of anti-wear and anti-oxidation to be blended with lubricants such as motor oils and greases. But some were for hydraulic fluids (and some were for the hide tanning industry - extremely dangerous compounds...organophosphates amenable to nefarious modification). Just to toss it out there - I hope the Toyo engineers have given a nod to their chemists (doubtful - engineers consider themselves as deities and lift a leg on scientists) so they can turn their eyes in that direction, to see if something turns up, or to eliminate it as a possible problem.
  18. Yes - something smells here. I heard reports that the police used their cruiser loudspeaker to tell this fellow to use the brakes. I'm guessing that they also mentioned disengaging the transmission (although, the Prius, like all the hybrids are technological marvels, highly controlled by their management systems...the traction control system, for example. You know about that. The Prius (and all hybrids) is also subject to precautions after a crash, with the possibility of hi-voltage leakage...and they in fact can move forward without driver intervention - so I have read). And brakes are more powerful than the motor. I haven't followed drag racing since my youth. There were the various stock classes. The top one was "A Stock." A/S, for manual trannys, A/SA for automatics. 426 Hemi Roadrunners etc. in A/SA would lock up the binders at the line, and depress the throttle, rev up, and churn the torque converter up to what is known as the stall speed - beyond that point, motor would die. Then when the tree turned green, off they went.
  19. I have to disagree. If I'm a coach, I want players to go all-out to make plays. McK has good return talents, so I trust him. Too bad the fumble happened...but I can't see preaching aggressiveness all week long, then telling players to put the brakes on. I guess that's poor strategy, but I don't care.
  20. Meat thermometer - clever - avoids statutes about concealed weapons. I knew an old guy who habituated the Pastime bar at Forest and Grant (Eddies' driving license DOB was '99, as in 1899). He carried a sharpened 1" putty scraper.
  21. ??? He's 21 with a big pile of signing jingle in his pockets, improbably picked in the 1st round. H*ll, if that fell to me, I might say so long and thanks for all the cash!
