  1. Advantage - me.
  2. Iomega (the Zip Drive people) dropped to $1.67 in the mid-late '90's. I noticed it but did nothing. They went on to split several times, 2 for 1, 3 for 2, etc., and finally fell into the toilet at over 30 bucks per share. Had I put 20K into them at the bottom, made arrangements to sell off without perturbing the market, I would be typing this from a residency in the Cayman Islands. Not that I'd be posting on TBD in the first place, if that happened...
  3. Heh...when I was in grade school, we were given an assignment...take the school's copy of the Occupational Outlook Handbook, pick an occupation, and write an essay about what you chose. http://www.bls.gov/OCO/ I picked geology. I ended up in chemistry, but in retrospect, I shoulda stayed with geology. I like dirt.
  4. Take-out - forget it. Eateries? - depends on if I get plates dropped down and immediately asked "Everything OK?" I do not want to know a server's name. I do not want to tell me that they are my server. I do not want to be told "No Problem!" A simple hello, or good morning, or good evening is all that is necessary - common courtesy and manners. Else is fawning, affected, possibly forced by the employer's manic personnel wonks. But not exclusively - there is no end of servers that are idiots of the first water, and only consider themselves and think only about how to pocket max cash. Bars? The profit margin in the biz is huge. How much effort does it take to dispense a drink or a shot, uncap a beer bottle or pull a tab and walk 4 or 5 or 6 feet? Nothing. At 99% percent of the booze establishments in America - one buck if you are sitting at the bar...regardless of quantity paid for. Table service, add some more.
  5. Entrance door or exit door? NFL high draftees pocketing the big cash and then lifting the leg isn't unheard of...
  6. Hmm....I'm (very) keen on crops, crop issues and prices, and husbandry (I'm probably the only sap far and wide around, that forks over the six extra bucks per month to TW cable for their RFD channel, so I can get the ag reports). A radio show I listen to every Saturday 6AM morning recently had a noted person saying that the problem is fading, and I've also heard and read that from some other sources.
  7. When I lived in western PA, a joke used was promising a gal an all-expense paid trip to Breezewood.
  8. Good tip. I reduced mine - it took several minutes to execute. I didn't need the space, but I run my security programs frequently, and they always chewed up time analyzing the system restore points. The deletions didn't show up while running disk cleaner - but cccleaner wiped them off the disk. 173 Mb was freed up.
  9. I never should have saved Cleopatra's asp.
  10. Another player also busted his foot - projected 1st round wr Demarius Thomas, GT. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...reaks-his-foot/

  12. Women using brooms, bending over, and polishing stones...what's not to like?
  13. He's a very rich, very famous guy. Travels about. He's no Adonis, but isn't a dog (like me). The world is chock of terminally cute, foxy gals that chase after such like Woods. I'd like to say that I could resist any and all temptation - but I don't know if I could, given that situation. Woods has no history AFIAK of being a crumb to us in the general public. I think he is a decent younger man. His private life, is just that - private. He doesn't owe anybody anything, and for myself, I'm pretty tired of folks in the limelight being expected to issue these public apologies.
  14. Turns out, her gig pays 30 million per year. Well, that's show biz. You 'n me should be so charming, eh?
  15. Chuckie C. has a history... http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122878081364889613.html
  16. I'm not a fan of pegging any DT draftee with any "technique" label. It's the pro coaches' job to mold rookies as to how they want them to act. I would never consider a DL player that has a collegiate history of strictly this, or that. I'm looking for quickness off the snap, lateral movement, plugging the line even if he gets knocked on his fanny - somebody's progress was impeded with all hope. I want them to interfere with the opposing offense's plans. If they get a sack or hurry - that's nice. I want to see a head slap, a forearm club now and then. I'll suffer that personal foul assessment. I want my DTs to do things that allow my LBs to be able to zero in on the run, or let them get into coverage. It's nice when a DT gets a sack, but I want them firstly to set the stage for the other members of the defense.
  17. When I left PA, I paid off my final bill to the Bell phone people. They sent me a check for 2 or 3 cents' overpayment. I sent them a check for 4 cents. They sent me back a check for a penny or so. I never cashed it - I destroyed it.
  18. I recommend watching Judge Judy. You'll shake your head at the folks that game the government freebie systems. The people who believe that since someone let them borrow a car, and they crashed it, that it's not their fault. She goes after those that claim "But I'm a single Mom!", as if that exonerates all...
  19. 4 OLs and 3 DLs - that would certainly be a change!
