  1. Was it any more expensive to produce than your typical NHL game that gets ¼ of the ratings? Vince McMahon is a smart man. The XFL's ratings were in line of expectations when he committed to funding the league for 3 seasons. The Coronavirus outbreak took everyone by surprise. There is simply too much uncertainty for Vince to carry on at this point. But I don't believe he's done.
  2. I've been making a point of getting restaurant takeout on Sundays. But the one place I'd go to once the all-clear is sounded is the Red Rose in Lowell, MA. Terrific Cambodian food.
  3. Rather than compare the XFL to the NFL, compare it to what else is on February. For example, here are the ratings for all sports on TV on February 24 through March 1. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/skedball-weekly-sports-tv-ratings-2-24-3-1-2020.html. The Seattle/St.Louis XFL game was the 10th best in % of households (1.11). The highest rated show was a NASCAR race at 2.9%. Mind you this was the point where XFL ratings had fallen off, but it was still in the Top 10 of all games shown that week The last week of all sports on TV. An XFL game still in top 10. The NHL would kill for XFL ratings. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/skedball-weekly-sports-tv-ratings-3-2-3-8-2020.html Week one of XFL. #2 and #3 rated game. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/skedball-weekly-sports-tv-ratings-2-3-2-9-2020.html So understand the so-called ratings collapse of the XFL, it went from being the #2 rated event of the week to the #10 rated event. It still had higher ratings than pretty much every NHL and college basketball game.
  4. Bravo. They chose to take the risk. So if someone at the party gets infected and goes home and infects his family or other people at the supermarket they shop at, did those people get a choice?
  5. Their governor is getting ready to throw the doors wide open in May because it pleases master.
  6. They had fans. And their ratings were right in line of expectations. It was working well enough for another season if not for the Corona-cooties. No point planning for 2021 yet but I expect them back in 2022...assuming he economy isn't collapsed by then.
  7. Except he wasn't the President. Oliver Luck was. Whaley was head of personnel. They debuted around 3 million viewers, fell by half but leveled off.
  8. He made $272MM in that sale. That's not enough to run a football league. He obviously was counting on WWE to bring in more cash.
  9. Seriously? You really believe how WWE had no effect on pulling the plug on the XFL? WWE was Vince McMahon's money printing press. It's what made the idea of funding XFL for three years doable.
  10. Correct. And not only that, how do you know when a XFL season would begin with the NFL possibly running into the Spring of 2021? Would not surprise me to see the XFL revive once the world returns to normal.
  11. More like 90% actually but yes it was a good turnout for a frigid playoff game. Unfortunately even Bills fans couldn't get it up for playoff games by then. The last two years of the Super Bowl run had blackouts (Houston comeback) or required tickets to be purchased (the rest of them) to avoid being blacked out. Mind you the stadium capacity then was a bit over 80K.
  12. Ralph along with Channel 2 would buy the unsold tickets to lift the blackout. They would lose even more in advertising if they didn't.
  13. You'll note that the game was not sold out. Not even close. A home playoff game!
  14. I was there. It sucked hard but for watching a playoffs win. I had so many layers on but was still freezing. I was 32 then. I would never put myself through that again. The people here who romanticize sitting in the elements like it's some great advantage are nuts, and likely so drunk they can't feel the frostbite setting in. Any new Bills stadium has to be covered, for our sake and the players.
  15. And that will be the last time for quite a while.
  16. Only off by 3 wins. 4 if you consider the loss resting starters.
  17. Maybe for a Gasparilla parade float.
  18. That's such a huge improvement over the digital scale readouts they used to wear. Sorry. Too much stench of losing on the creamsicles. And that logo?
  19. I was thinking about this. Maybe the draft in this crazy year is too risky. The lack of assurance that your discussions won't be hacked. What if you could use your picks to trade for already developed players?
