I'm hoping the NFL will chill out with the new stadium push for a while, until we know what we're heading for. This was the about the time the Pegulas were going to make their pronouncement. If a new stadium was to be built they'd have to say so now so they'd have time to build it before the current lease expired. So what now? A short extension with the county?

Well you have to admit this is different.

But the two stories are 180-degrees apart in focus. One focuses on the business, the other on the personal.

And no one is disputing the Pegulas business acumen. They ain't good.

It would be bad form for the NFL to be pushing for one now.

Why can't it be both? It probably is both. But the Athletic's focus is on one side, the one that damages the reputation of the team owners the most. Well trust us old timers who know the history some local reporters have with the Pegulas.

He still has billions (well, used to be billions) in mineral rights. Right now they are near worthless, though I'm sure they will bounce back some. While you can fault their business acumen, I don't fault their reaction to seeing their wealth evaporate.

I have not forgotten the very first one-on-one the Pegulas had with the Buffalo News sports staff in 2014. The die was cast then.

Gunner, no one is defending the Pegulas as master business executives. We know. They screw up a lot. But it's odd that you're defending this article as quality journalism while ignoring the history these reporters have. This isn't the first article taking the Pegulas to task for letting people go. They have been piling on for a while. While giving little mention of the dire financial straits they find themselves in. It reeks of a vendetta.

Just for argument sake, could I find a dozen people who think you're an arse? Just saying you can present facts in many ways. The Buffalo News ran an article on the financial pressures the Pegulas are under. Is that story any less accurate?

Is it though? Lots of digruntled ex-employees. No mention of the crash in the energy markets that might have brought about this drastic action. Let's not forget John Vogl has been on the Pegulas case for weeks now.
