  1. Was his Denver deal one of the biggest swindles in pro sports history? I don't know basketball or baseball enough but would suspect few NFL deals have touched this in terms of overpaying, both salary and draft capital.
  2. Does everyone who requests a trade just use this as posturing? Not being sarcastic here, just wondering.
  3. My guess is he still contributes a fair amount but starts to decline and gets 800 to 900 yards. Good but far from great.
  4. Dummy diva players and their hubris: would rather be a number 1 on a crap team than play with a potential HOF QB and a winning organization.
  5. Now the most feared words for every Bills player not named Josh Allen: "Mr. Beane would like to see you."
  6. Good for him. Good player, classy spokesman, and good human being. I hope he stays healthy and can enjoy his wealth with his family for a long time.
  7. 1. "To keep him in Buffalo" sounds like the alternative was getting cut. 2. Knox is no dummy; he saw that Kincaid set a Bills' record for TE receptions as a rookie. Kincaid is the new #1 TE and Knox knows if he rides out another year with 300 yards and gets cut, he's looking at a pretty low deal — and maybe from a team without a franchise QB. 3. With future HOFer Miller taking a pay cut and several cherished veterans getting cut from the team, it's easier for other guys to take a pay hit as he's not the only one. It's a psychology thing: you don't want to be the only one but if it's happening across the board, it's ok. I will puke in my mouth if he's keeping all his money but we're just pushing it down the road but I hope and suspect that's not the case.
  8. Glad it's the highest ever. If they're going to have great players I want them to pay through the teeth.
  9. Yes, I know with the league it doesn't count till June, I just wanted to make sure the OP's cap update numbers were not counting it either. Thanks.
  10. I had a thought today — total conjecture — about Von's new deal: Could it be that Beane knows that Von's off-field situation could potentially still be pursued and lead to bad optics for Von's future GM aspirations, and Beane said, give us relief and we will not pursue that... Any chance what was some of the carrot for Von to give up 8 or 9 million? Not saying it was, just speculating why Von would do this...
  11. If we get an FA rather than go with a rookie, I hope the FA is no more than about 26 years old and can play a good 5 years in the system. And hopefully not cost top dollar. Possible? If so, who?
  12. The cap may be "just accounting" but accounting can still be a a bit** if you don't pay your bills or account for what you want to buy next year. It buys some flexibility, as someone said, but it doesn't make bills go away.
  13. Thanks, @Shaw66, for giving Beane The Witch some bulletin board material.
  14. 2 things: 1. "Up to" means best-case scenario. Maybe he only earns 10 million and he's a 3.4 million player. I can live with that. And if he hits incentives and makes 4.5 million a year, bully for him. 2. McD knows his secondary. He ain't perfect as a coach, far from it, but he knows his defensive backs. I'll trust his judgment here, especially after turning Poyer and Hyde into a top safety unit after they were JAGs, over other opinions here.
  15. I'll miss these players but I'm not sad. My allegiance is first and foremost to the Bills and this will help the team overall going forward. And may still bring one or two guys back at reduced rates.
  16. As the Bills official site has already released a statement on the cuts, metjhinks that's all (!) for today... https://www.buffalobills.com/news/buffalo-bills-release-five-players-including-jordan-poyer-mitch-morse-and-siran-neal The Buffalo Bills announced the release of the following players Wednesday: safety Jordan Poyer, center Mitch Morse, defensive back Siran Neal, wide receiver Deonte Harty and running back Nyheim Hines.
  17. Not certain if all these moves are the right ones — though I'm leaning most if not all are necessary — but the wholesale cutting spree is oddly satisfying and cathartic. Most logical people though we couldn't "run it back" and expect better results with an aging roster.
  18. Spotrac on White's post-June 1 cut: 2024 Dead Cap: $6,234,918 2025 Dead Cap: $4,134,918 2024 Cap Savings: $10,208,819
  19. Indeed. My pic was after Poyer but before Morse and Harty... And I think the spree will keep going...
  20. Wegman's needs to rebrand their butcher section with a grinning Brandon Beane.
  21. Some say, in a former life Brandon The Ripper was a surgeon. Others speculate he's even royalty... Will his spree ever end?
