Maybe someone who coaches defense can shed some light on this for me. Are DBs coached NOT to look back for the ball? Because it seems to me that 99% of the time they fixate on the receiver and make zero attempt to locate and track the ball. Then when the ball is underthrown they clumsily run into the receiver and get called for DPI. Why would a DB willfully ignore where the ball is, therefore disqualifying themselves from being able to intercept it, and at the same time making it more likely that they'll get a DPI penalty?

I appreciate your last response and maybe I didn't understand all of it but it seems like you still haven't answered the question: Did the professor conclude that the Patriots "had not cheated" or that they "had not intended on cheating?" Because if they intended on cheating it's a moot point to me whether or not they were successful in doing so. The intent is what speaks to the morals and ethics of the situation.

Javon Solomon becomes the best homegrown pass rusher since the Bills drafted Bruce Smith in 1985.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned and should be is that Torrence had an insanely low number of sacks and pressures allowed as well as penalties during his time at Florida. Playing in the SEC he played at a very high and mistake-free level. I have a hard time believing that he won't continue to ascend as an elite player.

Not sure if La'el Collins has come up in this discussion but he's a guy who could make a positive impact on the O-line from a depth perspective. This guy was an upper-echelon NFL player before his injury 2 years ago.

With regard to the new kickoff rules, there's no "tape" to watch and no other leagues using remotely similar rules. Kickoffs are a great and vast unknown. People are imagining and hypothesizing about what they'll look like but no one actually knows. I agree with those who see potential for Hardy as a nickel back. But I also agree that he could be an excellent returner. Aside from specialists (long snapper, kicker, punter, returns) there have been players as pointed out earlier but if you're confining it to this year, I think just Mack Hollins. As has been pointed out upthread, with the cap crunch the luxury of allocating a high percentage of cap space to special teams is gone for the moment. It'll be interesting to see how much McBeane allocate in future years or if they've modified their cap allocations permanently.

Or to default to his endearing defense mechanism, "Go Bills!" I agree with @Beck Water that Aaron Rodgers is fundamentally an intelligent person. My theory on the stupid things Rodgers says and does is that (like most high-profile celebrities) he's probably surrounded by "yes men" who avoid contesting his views and probably reinforce them. Essentially he lives in an echo chamber which insulates him from a rigorous examination of his opinions. Lacking any checks and balances, he's prone to offering his half-baked opinions for public consumption.
