There were two guys I mocked to the Bills in nearly every draft I did regardless of site and they were Hairston and the TE Hawes. This kid's closing speed is unbelievable. I can't remember the last Bills' DB we had that had the ability to stay with the fastest WRs in the NFL or recover from a mistake. We are going to love this player.

Bills Offseason moves to date & Projected Roster
GASabresIUFan replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills haven't kept 6 safeties to open a season in the last 5 years. His dead cap to cut is 212K (2 mill cap hit) while Dane Jackson's is nearly 600K (1.35 cap hit). 3 of the probable 5 safety slots are spoken for with Hamlin, Rapp and Bishop. Hancock is a new draftee and if he has even a decent camp, I doubt Beane tries to slip him onto the PS, but that could happen. That leaves Lewis and Forrest competing for the final safety slot. Forrest's dead cap if cut is 168K (1.2 base). Lewis advantage is that he can also play corner in a pinch, he knows our system and is a key special teams player. Forrest's biggest advantage is his starting safety experience and he's nearly 800K less on the cap. Thus dumping Lewis saves about 1.8 million to the cap, while dumping Forrest only saves 1 mill. -

More roster history to chew on. Here is the breakdown by position on the opening day roster the last 5 years (24, 23, 22, 21, 20 in that order) OFFENSE: 23, 24, 26, 25, 27 QB: 2, 2, 2, 2, 3 RB/FB: 4, 4, 5, 5, 5 TE: 3, 3, 3, 2, 3 WR: 5, 5, 7, 7, 6 OL: 9, 10, 9, 9, 10 DEFENSE: 27, 26, 25, 26, 23 DT: 4, 5, 5, 5, 4, DE/edge: 6, 5, 5, 6, 5 LB: 6, 4, 6, 6, 6 CB: 7, 7, 6, 5, 5, S: 4, 5, 4, 4, 3, Specialists: 3, 3, 2, 2, 3 - Ferguson has been cut to allow another player to be kept, and then re-signed once a player is moved to IR. My current projections is O: 23 QB: 2 RB/FB: 4 TE: 3 WR: 5 OL: 9 DEF: 27 DT: 5 DE/Edge: 5 LB: 5 CB: 7 (Codrington 7th) S: 5 Spec: 3 -
Safety 89 - WR 73. Now that Moore was added, is this still even a debate?

Who is our worst match up in the AFC as of now?
GASabresIUFan replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
It really all depends on the improved defense. Get pressure on the QB and it won’t matter on the matchups. No pressure and we could struggle against anyone. That said, Baltimore’s power running game is our worst matchup on paper. We are still small on front and can’t stop the run until proven otherwise. -

It is one the small surprises this offseason that Beane hasn’t added at all to the LB. I thought we’d add one with one of our 4 picks from 169 to 177. He didn’t even add a low cost vet for camp. This tells me that he and McD like 2nd year players Andressen and Ulofoshio. -

I was hoping that it would end the Bills have the worst WR group in football narrative, but alas that hasn't happened. -

FYI: Longest tenured Bills 2017 draft: Milano and Dawkins (White returns after one year away) 2018 draft: Josh and T Johnson Hard to believe Josh is the 3rd longest tenured Bill. NFL really does stand for 'Not For Long' -

No, not according to the Bills website or Spotrac. The only TE's listed are Kincaid, Knox, Davidson and the newly drafted Hawes. The Bills waived TE Rogers in 4/17 after a non-football injury. -

LOL. Brady will have Mitch handing the ball off to Cook, Davis and Johnson and short passes to Shakir, Moore, Kincaid and Samuel and we'll still score at least 24 points a game. Does anyone else find it weird (sad?) that most of our UFAs haven't found a new team? Cooper, Douglas, Smoot and Austin Johnson plus Morris and Miller are all still looking for jobs. -

Trubisky was taken 2nd overall. I know people think he is a terrible QB, but he went to a pro bowl (2018) and has thrown for over 12000 yards in his career. His passer rating is 86. TD to Int 74-48. I have seen many worse QB's play for the Bills. If G-d forbid he has to play extended time, our great OL and running game should help keep him from his worst instincts and allow him to keep the Bills viable. -

With the emphasis on D in the draft especially at corner and the DL it really took much of the drama and flexibility out of the camp battles. The only real caveat is injuries. The biggest camp battle looks like it will between Lundy, Van Denmark and Green for the likely final OL spot. I also am curious if Beane will carry 6 WRs. Could Shenault do well enough as a kick returner to allow Beane to cut Codrington? The last big issue is now many DBs will we keep? Beane drafted 3, signed 3, and has 8 returnees. Do we really need 14 players for 5 jobs? -

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
GASabresIUFan replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Because the NFL is paying stupid money to WRs. See the Cinn for example. At some point the pendulum will swing the other way. It always does. That change is already happening. 7/8 of the most balanced run/pass teams made the playoffs and the least pass oriented team won the SB. The NFL is a copycat league. RBs are already coming back in vogue. -

GASabresIUFan replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Considering that Davis averaged a full yard per carry less than Cook, I'd say there is a pretty large gap between the two players. As to Shakir, he has the potential to be up there, as do Coleman and Kincaid. Beane has never drafted a 1000 yard receiver. Cook was his first 1000 yard rusher and he has now done it twice. Right now I'd probably argue that Singletary is 3rd on the list after Cook. Devin had 4 seasons of 950 to 1100 yards of offense. Gabe Davis' best season was 836 yards. -

How did Taron Johnson lose his job? Van Denmark can certainly be a trade candidate. -

Yep! Who is, after Josh, the best skill player on offense drafted by Beane? The answer by a country mile is Cook. Back on topic for a second, with the signing of Moore do the Beane critics still think we have the worst WR group in the NFL? -

Bills Offseason moves to date & Projected Roster
GASabresIUFan replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have Ingram on the team because I think he’s the primary backup at slot corner. He is also a key special teams player, especially if Lewis is cut. Last year Morris, Gilliam, Ingram and Lewis were our special teams snap leaders. Morris is already gone. I don’t think Beane is going to part with both Lewis and Ingram. When I did my draft review I came away more impressed with the Lundt pick. I wonder if it could come down to Lindt vs Ingram for the 53rd roster spot. If Lundt has a good camp Beane may worry he won’t be able to sneak him onto the PS. -

Not that this is a surprise, but a good year from Hairston would make a huge difference. Improvement from last year's top 2 picks would also be very welcome. -
