  1. I posted this in another thread but it belongs here as well. FYI: Why do I think and others think Shakir can replace Diggs. He is physically nearly identical to Diggs, younger, cheaper, more productive since week 7 and more explosive. As to the thread question as to whether we did enough, I would argue we had if Coleman was faster. He certainly is a replacement for Davis and if when we move Shakir to DIggs' former position and Samuel to the slot, I think you can make a reasonable argument that the starters are set. Add Kincaid and Cook and you have a very nice group of targets for Josh. The question of depth beyond the starters at WR is a legit question. Right now we have Hollins, Shorter, Hamler & Isabella. Color me un-impressed.
  2. Don’t discount Hamler making the team. I was pretty harsh when they signed him, but given his speed, NFL experience, and the new kickoff rules, the odds of him making the team have now increased.
  3. No double dip on a WR. I guess they like Shorter more than we thought.
  4. ESPN likes Solomon. Looks like a smart add to our edge depth.
  5. Kid looks like a very good athlete. 4.72 40, 37 vertical. Lead FBS with 16 sacks. Also 3 forced fumbles.
  6. Bills traded pick 144 (5th rd) to the Bears for the Bears 4th rd pick in 2025 Bills trade pick 163 (6th rd pick) to GB for 168 and 219. This gets us back to 10 picks in this draft.
  7. Cbs gives the pick an A- and he was a Butkus award finalist.
  8. 1300 pass plays. Only 1 sack allowed while at UGA.
  9. I’m so excited. This kid is an excellent player and good kid. Go Dawgs! Go Bills!
  10. Some really good players still on the board. Van Pran, Rice, Hart, Chris Jones, Kamara and Booker. No wonder Beane is letting the draft come to him.
  11. I like Guerendo also, size and speed. That said, I never thought Davis would still be on the board here. I got to watch him often in the SEC. We are going to like this kid.
  12. I know Beane said he wasn’t trading up in the 4th, but it’s a little disappointing. Is he really going to make 4 5th rd picks? We still have needs at Edge, CB, OL and WR so maybe.
  13. This is a really good football player. Cook, Johnson and Davis is an excellent RB room.
  14. I'm sorry, but I'm not at all sad that we traded Diggs. I think Kincaid and Shakir with Samuel and now Coleman will make up a better group of pass catchers then we had last season as Diggs' 160 targets get spread around better as Josh won't have to feed a Prima Donna, but instead focus on throwing to who is actually open. Here are some stats after week 6 when we opened up the offense and started using Kincaid and Shakir more. (Stats include the playoffs) Diggs - 111 tgts, 68 rec, 636 yards, 3 TDS, Catch % 61.26, yards/att 5.73 Kincaid - 83 tgts, 64 rec, 659 yards, 3 TDS, Catch % 77.11%, yards/att 7.94 Shakir - 52 tgts, 45 rec, 646 yards, 3 TDS, Catch % 86.54%, yards/att 12.42 Which of these players would you keep if you were the GM? The player on the downside of his career or the kuds who were just as productive but have upside? Also add that Diggs only had 19 explosive plays on 160 targets, while Shakir had 17 on 45 targets in the regular season. Also combine comparison between Shakir and Diggs (both were 5th rd picks) Shakir - 6' 196, 4.43 40, 1.49 10 yard split, 34.5 vertical - 78 Athleticism score Diggs - 6' 195, 4.46 40, 1.53 10 yard split, 35 vertical - 69 Athleticism score
  15. I would love to see Elam given a shot at FS
  16. I'm finding it a little amusing how many posters are talking about McBeane's D obsession, when considering that the Bills brain trust has given Josh a ton of skill help early in the last 3 drafts. Each time is was a position that Beane had never targeted early in the draft in his tenure. 2022 - They drafted Cook in the 2nd rd (pick 63). Cook was known as a good receiver out of the backfield and caught 80% of his targets last year. Prior to Cook, the highest Beane drafted a RB was 3rd rd picks Singletary and Moss. He also added Shakir in the 5th and that seems to be working out ok so far. 2023 - Beane drafted Kincaid (TE) at 25 and then added a starting OG in Torrence in the 2nd (pick 59). Prior to 2023 the highest TE was Knox (3rd rd pick 96th). 2024 - This year Beane takes a WR Coleman with the Bills first pick at 33. Davis was the highest drafted Bill WR under Beane prior and was a 4th rd selection. Of his premium picks (rounds 1-3), Beane has favored D slightly (11 to 9), but overall he has made 23 O picks to 22 D picks with 2 specialists. Sorry, but I'm not seeing much bias here, but I am seeing a change to finally getting some talented skill help for Josh.
  17. Beane has been very forthright about the Bills draft this year. He said there were only 25 or so players with first rd grades and when one wasn’t there at 28 he traded down. He said he was going to add DT help and did. Safety was also an obvious need with only 3 on the roster and both projected starters were backups last season. Beane filled this obvious need with a very talented player who he probably had inside scoop on because of his Utes teammate Kincaid. However Beane also said, if my memory serves, that the Bills passing game needed more explosive plays and someone who could stretch the field. Instead he drafts a player who ran 4.61 at the combine. This is where the disappointment comes in. Beane set the expectations and then to all appearances didn’t deliver. I’m not a fan of the Coleman pick. However, I do trust Beane and there is reason to hope. First, Beane said we need to be better at contested catches and Coleman does that well. We also need bigger targets who make plays in the red zone and Coleman does that as well. @Big Turk also pointed out Coleman 20 mph in game speed. This is Nacua type in game speed and we know how that turned out.
