"Edge rushers taken around 30 in the past 5 drafts:" They're Edge rushers who play OLB in a 3-4. In our defense, they would be D Ends. Just like Azeez Ojulari, Joseph Ossai, and Joe Tryon in the upcoming draft. If we draft any of those three (entirely possible), I don't think we intend to use them as back ups to Edmunds or Milano. I see some production here. To get an Ngakoue or Judon later in the draft, our scouting department would need to absolutely nail it.

Edge rushers taken around 30 in the past 5 drafts: Yetur Gross-Matos 38th overall 2020, 2.5 career sacks Montez Sweat 26th overall 2019, 16 career sacks LJ Collier 29th overall 2019, 3 career sacks Harold Landry 41st overall 2018, 19 career sacks Takkarist McKinley 26th overall 2017, 17.5 career sacks Taco Charlton 28th overall 2017, 11 career sacks TJ Watt 30th overall 2017, 49.5 career sacks Emmanuel Ogbah 32nd overall 2016, 27 career sacks There's production there. I challenge you to find the top 8 edge rushers of the last 5 drafts from rounds 3-7 to compare sack numbers. If Beane goes that route, we just hope he identifies this year's Sweat or Watt.

Section E?? Where's that? I think a beer now costs $12. I can't help with the picture, but I'd love to see it.

Awesome moment. Something similar happened on Sep. 25th, 2011, when Fitz and the Bills beat the Pats. Nobody wanted to leave. We didn't wait for the players to come back on the field, but the party went on in the stadium, and parking lot, for hours afterwards. We really felt like we had turned a corner. But alas.....

We already have the "fixins" (Ed, Tremaine, AJ, Jerry)....where's the BEEF?!
-
Take a look: matched against several future early-round draft-pick Olinemen (Leatherwood, D. Brown, Dickerson, J. Wills, etc). Thoughts?

I like the value pick at 61....but are we looking for another light DT? Grab a giant space-eater in the later rounds to tie up double teams and free up Ed and the D Ends (T. Shelvin, B. Brown, T. Slaton could all fit the bill).

Pro Day Results Tracker - Measurements and Athletic Testing
TailgateChef replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. I'm adding one or 1.5 tenths to each time. That would be more in line with the stats. Even then...some impressive times. I remember when a 4.75 Edge was fast. Now, that's pedestrian. -

There have been blazing 40 times the entire month of March. I wonder if these times have been made official, with digital timing and vetted footwear and surfaces. This amount of outrageously fast times is unprecedented. Are pro days as scrutinized as the official combine? I wonder. -

Draft prospects not getting enough attention
TailgateChef replied to glazeduck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kendrick Green. Good in tight spaces and can get outside on pulls. Aggressive. Developmental G and C. Could challenge Cody Ford. Could possibly take over for Morse next year. #53, LG. For context, watch his reps against Daviyon Nixon, a projected early round draft pick (#54 for Iowa). Unfortunately, too rich for a 3rd, and we have no 4th. If he's there in the 5th, I hope they scoop him up. -
[Incomplete Title] If we go Defense in Round 1
TailgateChef replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If anything, the offense (and Josh) needs interior blocking, and perhaps a gadget player (to replace McKenzie). Thing is, both of those can be had in rounds 3-6. I suspect Josh is like Ben early in his career (and similar to krav maga): he can make a deadly weapon out of anyone. As long as they do their job, he will get the ball to them. This is why Sanders is a perfect fit for a #2 WR - he gets to the precise spot he's supposed to be on each play. By drafting defense (and interior blocking) in the early rounds in the 10 years after Ben was drafted, the Steelers were able to get studs like Bud Dupree, Ryan Shazier, Cam Heyward, Lawrence Timmons, and Lamarr Woodley. And 3 Super Bowl appearances. Edge, CB2, and 1-tech DT should be invested early in the upcoming draft. -
Keep in mind, this might be just the thing for Trubisky to get his career back on track. Look what they did with Josh. Perhaps Buffalo is now the destination for highly drafted but raw QBs to remediate.

I think both those guys would be good developmental prospects. When you look at someone like Shelvin, playing against top flight linemen in the SEC, you'll see nuanced technique that helps him make plays, even while double-teamed. Slaton or Bohanna could get there, but they'd need to under-study from Star for a year or two.

That QB room just became really crowded. Who do they let walk? Webb? Fromm? Both?
