Those were bad plays but come on, the game was far from over after those plays. We had more chances and did not get it done.

This loss can be broken down to some basics: 1. Inexcusable blocked extra point - Mathematically it is 21-21 without this play. 2. Turnovers - We had more than they did by 3-1. Tough to win on the road when you turn the ball over. 3. Front 7 - they had great pressure on the QB, we had none at all. 4. The loser factor - mystery holding on Spiller's long run; dropped interceptions, dropped passes, the punt with eyes to the goal line. Hey, at least they are keeping it interesting.

I agree. We may actually have better talent if you exclude the front 7. If Luck is on the board when we draft it will be difficult to pass on him. Once he is off the board you go with the best front seven players, doesn't mater if they are DT, DE, ILB, or OLB ---load up. We need to bring in some Free Agents too. Our front 7 is shi#.

That was me Tom, I said it. Most games in the NFL come down to one or two plays. Today, I think the blocked extra point was the killer. It was a 21-21 game without that play. We may have found another way to lose but things like that should not happen. Good teams have players that make big plays. Today, the biggest miss was Bryan Scott's dropped INT. We could have gone up by 12 or 13 with that play. The biggest talent difference between the teams is the defensive front 7. They have some studs; we we have Kyle Williams and thats about it. Bottom line -- we need better players.

Agreed. It sounded like a road game. Thanks a lot Southern Ontario. I heard they already started to pour into the parking lots of Western NY shopping malls this past weekend. I can recall the horrible site of Canadians leaving behind piles of litter (shopping bags, wrappings, boxes) as they sneak their Holiday gifts back to Canada. Nice.

We can build around Fitz while we are developing a franchise QB. Fitz is a good QB and an excellent backup. We will never get to the upper echelon with Fitz unless we can put together the 1985 Chicago Bears defense to go with a powerful running game. I like Fitz a lot but his accuracy, or lack thereof, is a prominent reason why we did not get a WIN this week or last week.

What do u consider a winning season
Bob in STL replied to qdawg in philly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is Philly starting to rub off on you? In a 16 game season a winning season is 9-7 as a minimum. -

Is there a link to watch Merriman presser?
Bob in STL replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Merriman conducted a perfect interview. Handled the questions about moving to Buffalo and he said these key things: 1. I am here to work. 2. I always have a chip on my shoulder with the way I play the game. 3. I have to contribute here. 4. I have to gain the teams trust. 5. I have to earn respect by working hard. About being used to bright lights? Nothing bright about putting on a helmut and playing football, bottom line is I love to play football. Immediate reaction to Buffalo? That I have an helmut and that is good. -

I thought he had a bad game against KC, especially on run blocking. I would like to have an excellent LT as a opposed to one that there is "nothing wrong with". -
Bills/Toronto headed for a season split!?
Bob in STL replied to BillsDiehard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Green Bay is exempt from the conversation since the city owns the team. They are not driven by excessive greed. The entity can retain all earnings and use them to pay players, coaches and staff. They do pull also from Milwaukee’s fan base which is larger than Buffalo. Jax is on its way out. I was just in Jacksonville and it is much larger and vibrant than Buffalo. There is lots of development going on there. The problem with Jacksonville is they have a college football mentality and they prefer the Gators to the Jags. Everyone knew this when they awarded a team to Jacksonville over St. Louis but the league went ahead anyway. New Orleans’ tourism revenue alone drawfs Buffalo. Looks at what happened to the Colts, Cardinals, Browns and Raiders? The Bills Brand and market is big in Buffalo/WNY, Rochester, and Southern Ontario. I watched the Bills-Pats game in a Binghamton Sports Bar and guess what? There were more Giants and Jets fans in the place. Heck, there were more Steelers fans in the place too. Try buying a Bills shirt or hat in St. Louis, or LA, or Miami, or Dallas? It is practically impossible. You can get Cowboys, Pats*, Raiders, Colts, Yankees, Lakers, etc , in any city. -
Bills/Toronto headed for a season split!?

See bold above and here is what is wrong with your thoughts regarding coporate tickets: 1. Corporate buys seats no matter what. They give their seats in the luxury suites to their executives as perks. Some Exec's use them to take customers, potential customers, and key suppliers to games. Sometimes "regular employees" get them as performance recognition. Bottom line: Corporate ticket buyers do not care either way if the team is good or not, they buy the tickets for reasons beyond team loyalty. 2. The problem with Buffalo/WNY and Rochester is that there are little corporate $$$ to pull from. Not many Fortune 500 companies in the area anymore. Buffalo has to rely on real fans. Owners like Ralphie have to share the gate on the "real fan" revenue but not on the luxury boxes. Toronto gives Ralphie the opportunity to get more luxury suite revenue and also to demand much high prices’ for the non-luxury seating. Nothing against luxury suites but whoever came up with the revenue loophole is now killing the small markets and taking the game away from the real fans. Ticket prices are ridiculous, both owners and players are making fortunes but it is the fans decide that in an open market. The market is setting the prices. -

I want ua to draft an OT in the first 3 round AND to find some help in free agency. The KC game made it obvious again that both tackles are below average. We could not bounce any runs outside, their ends and LBs pushed everything into the middle. Don't want to hear how good KC is, they are average and our OTs are below that. -
SI's Jeff Pearlman should be ashamed.
Bob in STL replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pearlman, as a writer, ranks with Mathison as a football player. Mathison was indeed a very bad football player. He had his chance and he did not take advantage of it. Content to sit on his brians with his girlie flip flops on and watch Dan Fouts. And that is worthy of a story? Jack Kemp had the same circumstance and produced with much different results. -

How does Taddeus get mentioned in the same breath as Merriman? One is a pro bowler and a star, the other never plays? I don't get the Taddeus cheering section on the TSW and apparently, neither do the Steelers? -
You forgot: Fitz wins MVP, Chan is Coach of the Year, Nix is Executive of the Year, and Cordero Howard wins Rookie of the year. Good thing we signed Merriman instead of Thadeaus What's-his-puss.

Jay Glazer Comments about Merriman
Bob in STL replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Glazer is wrong. Thw Bills are trying to improve the team and finally, they do something that looks like a legitimate move. If he can play at a high level that is great for us. He just might playing for Buffalo. It takes him out of the spotlight and he can concentrate on getting his career back on track. The fans will love him if he is anything close to the player he was. I like the move. -

Is this the reason Gailey stopped running the ball?
Bob in STL replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The proper decision was to mix the run with the pass. KC should have never even had the final drive in the game. They had no timeouts and we had the ball on their 42 (in very long FG territory (~59 yards). He needed at least one first down to run the clock down and then let Lindell try a kick. Two first downs would be much better but really, we were within a few yards of a taking shot, especially if we drain the clock. A mix of run and pass made sense. We were in the drivers seat and we panicked. Fitz threw three straight incomplete passes, the third one was called intentional grounding. The clock barely ticked at all and we were looking at 4th and forever. That was followed by a 26 yard punt. KC, with no timeouts, had the ball with plenty of time run the ball down our throats ... and they did. The Bills do not yet know how to win and it showed once again. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bob in STL replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great stuff as usual Bill. -- I think the problem with Jackson was the blocking. It looked to me like both tackles had problems, there was constant pressure pinching in from the tackles and we could not break anything outside. Jackson ran hard when he had room to get moving. -- Spiller needs more touches. We threw too many passes and and our average per throw was actually worse than the average per carry. -
Buffalo fans should be happy today
Bob in STL replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No thanks. Progress shows in wins and we have none. In todays NFL KC is a few plays from being 3-4 and so is Buffalo. KC is not a good team and Buffalo is worse. -
Lesters on Clayton in Chesterfield. The Bills Backers meet there for every game.

KC is on the upswing for sure. I am watching Sports Center and the staff in Dallas and Minnesota are upset and embarrassed. For Buffalo it looks like many fans look for positives when we play a close game. The team is still bottoming out. We have many sub par players that start on this team.
