I would believe ADHD by listening to his show with Dunne! can give a few examples of him not being situationally aware? I can think of 2 instances off the top of my head - one being his fumble in KC which actually went on Josh and was chalked up to a miscommunication. The other was week 3 against Miami where he was tackled in bounds to end the game. Neither of these seem like glaring examples

He made some big mistakes…I wouldn’t call him awful. They just needed more from him at slot WR and he didn’t deliver. Not sure why I think Josh lost some trust in him which could account for him not getting more targets

Like many here and many in the media, I thought we would see big things from Isaiah McKenzie. After signing a multi-year contract with Buffalo, it seemed like he was going to be the heir apparent to Cole Beasley. Even when the Bills signed Jamison Crowder, McKenzie routinely hyped as one of the most impressive WR’s in training camp. I believe he was called “uncoverable” several times by beat reporters. But last season was not the step forward we thought he would take. While he still put up decent numbers there were times when he seemed invisible in the offense - a far cry from when Cole Beasley’s role. I’m wondering why… did he struggle with getting open and reading defenses in the way that Beasley did? Did Allen not trust him? Was Dorsey unable to utilize his skills and find advantageous matchups for him, the way that Daboll did the season before? Or did McKenzie simply prove that he is not a starting caliber WR…and is instead more of a gadget/role player? I know there were issues with drops this season too which didn’t help. I know on Ty Dunne’s podcast he said he was getting open but wasn’t getting the ball. Is this true? I can’t say that I completely buy that. If anyone has theories why or has watched his film, let me know.

I mean…you can’t deny the talent that Toney has always had. His issues have been availability. It does make you wonder how an offensive mind like Brian Daboll had no use for him. Still, I don’t think he’ll ever get close to a WR1 level. I do think he can be a high-end gadget type player and that Reid is smart enough to find creative ways to utilize his speed.

Former Bills Defensive coach Leslie Frazier spoke to Albert Breer of Si.com. He is saying that he’s optimistic to get a HC job in 2024, and his plan to step away this season was to “re-charge” to prepare for a HC position. Most interesting quote was: ”Hopefully, an owner will give me a chance to talk to him about an opportunity,” Frazier said. “If that doesn’t happen, I’m good. I’ve had a good career. I’m good. My goal is to be a head coach. I know I don’t have much time left, I’m at an age where it seems like owners are going younger and younger, but I think I have some things I can bring to the table. We’ll see what happens.” Does this mean that Les is retired unless he can find a HC spot? Contrary to what some may say, his defenses always rank at the NFL. Believe it or not, If you look at the totality of his defensive rankings the past few years, he has a stronger resume than Vic “the genius” Fangio. I was referring to the person who said you could make a small fortune buying this stuff and selling it back to sports memorabilia collectors. The company that he paid does to run this sale takes a percentage of the total sales. They also sprung for security. That means that it’s highly likely someone on the staff will know the value of the collectibles and will price them accordingly. For that reason, I don’t think this sale will make fan wealthy. But if might be a good way for a collector to find something cool… I just don’t think it will be cheap

Not really. The problem is that the auction house knows the value of the items. Something tells me they won’t be selling items at a “steal.” Maybe if they do 50% off towards the end of the sale, but the prices aren’t going to be cheap

Yeah sometimes I feel that he shouldn’t get lumped in with Boogie or AJ because he has consistently been better and has proven at worst he’s a capable starter at DE

No on here is talking about free agencyxm, where Beane has made a few BIG blunders. His biggest miss was signing Star Lotuleli. Beane’s scouted and drafted Star in Carolina where he flashed but never lived up to his potential. He decided to overpay for Star BIGLY and the return was 1 average season and 3 other years of below average play. The Bills couldn’t get out of his contract which was a big opportunity cost. Of course, whenever I make this point there are people in here that try to pretend Star was better than he was. But he wasn’t. He was a massive, expensive, underwhelming BUST There’s something that has to be said about the picks at DE. Epinesa sucked as a rookie, so they drafted Rosseau and Basham who also sucked. So they had to overpay for a veteran Von Miller. Von wasn’t a bad signing but had 1 of those 3 picks hit, they wouldn’t need to sign him

Hopkins is picking up pre-draft: - He wants out of Arizona and want to play for a content - Arizona wants a significant asset - Contenders don’t want to pay Hopkins at his current salary and/or trade a significant asset The way I see it Arizona has three options: - Swallow their pride and just cut him for a better cap situation - Hang onto an unhappy player and hope you can trade him in-season (even though it makes it harder) - Keep ab unhappy Hopkins on the roster all season long

They love Taron and won’t be moving on from him. There’s no guarantees for the others

Agreed…I’m not sure why people seem to think he’s on the hot seat. With him taking over defensive calls, there’s definitely is more pressure him in 2023 than there was in 2022. But people sleep on how much power he has with the Bills and how much Terry reveres him. I think Beane gets fired before McDermott

I think sometimes we underestimate just how BAD Saffold was. Despite this…the Bills never attempted to replace him which is almost as scary. I’m not so sure how much worse they’d be with Greg Van Roten or a returning Ike Boettger. You can scheme ways to help pressure off the edges but it’s harder when the pressure is coming up the middle. This is why I think they invested on interior OL talent Saffold was a Kromer guy - who I think has multiple strikes against him as OL Coach. He needs a big year to his job.

Beane and McDermott ARE his inner circle!!! That’s who people don’t understand. Outside of Terry himself, they are the two most powerful people at One Bills Drive. I’d argue McDermott is probably #1 which makes the “hot seat” narrative laughable. Want more evidence? Look at how Terry dealt with coaches/GM’s with the Sabres… he’s not going to fire either McDermott or Beane any time soon. As far as who Terry consults with, the rumors were that he used to speak with Bill Polian frequently. It was also rumored that there was a deal to bring Polian to Buffalo in a Parcells-like president role in 2014. I wouldn’t be shocked if Polian was the guy advising him not to fire Whaley until after the draft - which is a textbook “football guy” move.

McDermott has a lot riding on his this season with taking over playcalling duties but I don’t think he’s in much danger of losing his job if he fails. Dorsey on the other hand…

I totally forgot about these two, but you are right - especially for Epinesa who will be a FA. If a DE like Jonathan Kingsley, Kameron Cline or Shane Ray balls out in the preseason, I would not be shocked to see a trade late in the preseason with one of these players.

It seems like the Bills really like Oliver and want to re-sign him but he hasn’t done enough to justify the contract he’ll want. I see him in Edmunds territory, though the difference is that DT is a more premium position than LB. But yeah he’s really going to have to show he’s worth it. Bills might be able to re-sign Davis is he has another year like 2022. But will they want to? Good point… he actually has a potential out in contract after 2023, and given his contract, I wouldn’t put it past the team to exercise

It has nothing to do with market size as much as it does with social media engagement. Typically Bills fans are very active - which is why you see national media both pander and take shots at the team. Take a look at Acho when he was at ESPN vs. FS1. I rest my case.

Here’s my choices: Spencer Brown - This is Brown’s second consecutive season to show improvement. He failed last year…if he fails again, you’ll likely see Buffalo replace him next offseason and move on the following season. Time is ticking. Ed Oliver - He’s never been able to consistently live up to his potential yet he’ll want a deal similar to Dexter Lawrence and Jeffrey Simmons - players who outperformed him despite being drafted later in 2018. But he’s not going to get anything close from the Bills or any other team if he doesn’t step it up in 2023. Gabe Davis - Davis had a good..not great season in 2022. Like Oliver he’s a FA in 2023 and the contract offer will likely depend on his performance in 2023. An improved season should secure a very lucrative contract at or close to WR1 money. Another 2022, and he’ll sign somewhere for modest WR2 money. Taylor Rapp - Rapp had options to sign a contract where he’d start or compete to start. He chose to sign in Buffalo to back up Poyer and Hyde. A good season could lead to a new contract with Buffalo to replace Hyde. Otherwise he’ll be back on the FA market in 2023. Poona Ford - same as Rapp. Ford allegedly took less money for an opportunity in Buffalo. With so many expiring contracts on the interior DL, a good season could help Ford cash in on a lucrative long term deal in Buffalo or elsewhere. Who else did I miss?
