How many roster spots are still in play?
First Round Bust replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
backup qb - has to be a vet, cant build a SB contender and have a raw rook drafted mid-late round as the pinch-hitter like Jake Fromm-like zombie but of course that comes with a coupla mill per season...drafting a guard to step-in at mid-season is another priority to give Ford compeition as bates is the c-g like Feliciano was, only better hopefully both safties 30+ but there are young vets on the roster- Hyde has 2 years left, Poyer one. the backup MLB needs to get real - if you want to replace Edmunds you need some exp, speed, size, wingspan and that is tough to find. SDSU TE on day three would give thee a chubee Only Jameson is there at 25 (value) I am trading down for an extra 2nd and 3rd-rounder, so if I dont get that special kid I got 2 second and 2 to go shopping for WR, CB, OL. DL then LB and RB in middle rounds with house money on day 3; TE, QB, S.. -

expect some technique and scheme improvement, but Ford has to improve his athleticism, his RAS scores are low in comparison to others and his play has fallen significanlty and cant get up...I dont see him in the mix as a starter, so as far as backup goes I expect the Bills to draft at least one guard that should stick on the active roster or else risk being lost when placed on the practice squad, which happened to us last season when we lost G Jack Anderson to the Iggles (as well as CB Wildgoose to the Jets). He likely cant swing to tackle, does not play center, so he is a one-trick pony in last year of contract where the position priority is to protect the franchise qb and his results so far do not qualify. Cutting results in small cap savings versus keeping for backup purposes but complicated with roster spot for a drafted guard as mentioned...
-
so you want to play GM... the draft is going to cost another 6M to sign the rooks, plus dead cap as of today is at 9.9M not counting possible release of #11 which would add another 1M+ plus, plus Beano wants to carry a surplus of 2M+, plus you got to pay the practice squad barnyard animals,BTW, no backup (vet) qb signed as of yet...then you got to decide whether to keep Star or not...then likely Diggs extension, and maybe Edmunds...and we wonder why there are some decision misses along the way...

career earnings for Tyrod will surpass $70M after this deal....
-
and traded by the best coach (GM) in history for same value..fifth-rounder, which is similar value
-
Levi Wallace gone to the Steelers on 2-year deal
First Round Bust replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
maybe we only offered a 1 year deal ? or they can get a vet like Joe Haden for 2-3M per and have him work with Dane J and a 2nd round pick...problem solved. -
using that logic arent Bills guilty of same for trading Teller for a fifth rounder as well ?
-
JD Mckissic to Bills 2 year, 7 million

the first succesful screen pass or draw play in Bills history to a RB will be the first succesful screen pass or draw play in Bills history -
call me crazy ...queue the continued Carolina connection...can Cam come calling ? cuz Caroina coaches congregating congealing, conspiring..concened ?
-
well Cam was MVP and got to the super bowl...we dont know for sure, but this could very well have been Dorsey's request to begin with, or more likely if the HC says you need to hire an experienced "consultant" he got to pick his guy...

DT DaQuan Jones to Buffalo, $3.58M cap this year
First Round Bust replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
as much as I luv Harry, he priced himself out of our range, esp year 1, he did have some injury issues and was light for 1 tech DT. Jones is 30 pounds heftier and In 2021, Jones had 23 pressures and a career high 69.4 pass rush grade...run-plugger with better interior pass rush skills than what we had and should compliment Ed Oliver to play freerer-quicker... -
Carolina connection rings again, bounced around a lot like Daboll, got the most out of Cam and some change is good for the qb room esp for the guys behind Josh.

Bills sign DT Tim Settle, formally of Washington Commanders.
First Round Bust replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
I live in DC area , I subscribe to the Wash Post, read the sports everyday,I know every lineman on the team..except one...now I glady accept that one, its a talented D-line here, all first rounders start and the backups are good, Settle had a down year in comparison to year before, I just hope he replaces Butler and not Harry, and yes I am am hairy about Harry. -
scroll down to the penalties secton, one thing I like is a lots of snaps, not many fouls, 6-5 325 pounder, former tackle https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SaffRo20.htm update: per team its a one-year deal amt is TBD update: per Joe B quote - Athletic - Saffold says plan right now is to play left guard - which is where Bates played well down the stretch...

decreasing productivity at the increased age of 30+ is a red flag, coupled with 2 years of 10M cap hit AND have to trade draft capital is a big no way...l ess money to re-sign Phillips (hopefully)and the big DT money goes to the younger roster resident, one Ed Oilver

ugh I didnt realize our punting was that bad - worst in league - worst than Percy Harvin ? Still think a 7th rounder is worth a P pick
