Need a capable backup quarterback next season.
Billy Claude replied to margolbe's topic in The Stadium Wall
Trubisky will probably be available for cheap after this season. -
Allen was never supposed to be in the competition, McCarron was supposed to be #1, Peterman #2, and Allen was supposed to be #3. However, Peterman played great against the third stringers (the Kelvin Benjamin revenge game), McCarron looked awful and sulked, so they traded him away and ended up with Allen number 2 behind Peterman.

C.J. Stroud? Lamar Jackson? Baker Mayfield? Cam Newton? They all had decent year ones.
-
Ok. I guess I didn't remember the Peterman one. Tanney was on the Bills preseason squad in 2015.
-
I believe that was Alex Tanney. -- See thread below -- it turns out Nathan Peterman also had a trick shot video.

Probably the most non-sensical pickup of any of the Jets signings this season. I understand that they weren't sure about Breece Hall coming off his ACL, but they already had Ty Johnson and Michael Carter and surely they could have come up with an insurance policy cheaper than Dalvin Cook. Complete idiocy by Joe Douglas.

So how are we feeling about Coach McDermott?
Billy Claude replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Same as it has been for the last season and a half; a very good football coach who is not very good in end game situations. Great coach for building a winner, not clear he is the guy to get you over the hump. -
Allen is fine in cold weather. He is not particularly good in sloppy weather (wind, rain, and/or snow). Obvious sloppy field games where he was outplayed by the opposing QB is, of course, by Burrows in last year's playoff game and by Matt Ryan in Allen's three interception game against the Falcons a few years back (although Allen did win the game with his legs once he stopped throwing it so much.) There was also the Eagles game against Carson Wentz in 2019 but maybe you don't want to count that since Allen hadn't hit his stride yet. I am sure there are others but those are the ones that are just off the top of my head. You can also argue he was outplayed by Bill Belichick's strategy in the famous Mac Jones two pass game, To me, the issue is that Allen doesn't like to adjust for his passing game for weather except to throw the ball harder which just leads to more drops and less accuracy.

I would guess 80% to 90% of the response on this board was positive when the Bills traded for him.

Week 17, Cheats v. Bills - GAME BALLS
Billy Claude replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not saying to convert Allen into Tom Brady. You don't need to abandon your game to get a little bit better at things that you are not great at. -
Week 17, Cheats v. Bills - GAME BALLS
Billy Claude replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get your point, the New England game I was referring to (13 of 28, 0 TD, 3 Ints and pulled for Matt Barkley) was year two not his rookie year. Yes, it is discouraging to me that Allen does not seem to be getting better at the things that he is not good at. He could be an all time great simply by reducing his turnovers by 20% and a little better processing but people here seem to think that this is impossible without killing his game. -
Week 17, Cheats v. Bills - GAME BALLS
Billy Claude replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
It wasn't Allen's worse game -- that has to be the game in his rookie season against Green Bay or New England in year two. However, it certainly wasn't in any sense good. Bad performance and bad body language for both him and Diggs yesterday. Definitely don't understand this automatic game ball stuff. -
The 1 scenario that eliminates the Bills next week
Billy Claude replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Ravens are 1 win and 4 losses against the Steelers in the last 5 games, including a loss this season The Ravens hate the Steelers. They may rest their starters, they may lose the game, but it won't be because the Ravens want to keep the Bills out. -
My response was that you said that the fact that the Ravens are favorites in the AFC was debatable. They have two more wins than any other team in the AFC. They play in the toughest division in the NFL (all teams are a least 500) and they have a point differential of +210 which is 77 higher than #2 (Bills at +133). They might now make the Super Bowl but there is no realistic debate about who is favorite. On your question of whether the Ravens would prefer the Bills or Steelers -- I doubt that they think that far ahead. The Steelers always play them tough. Pittsburgh was one of the three teams to beat them this year (17-10), was 1-1 against the Ravens last year (14-16 and 16-13) and 2-0 against the Ravens in 2021 (20-19 and 16-13) and frankly, the Steelers have played better than the Bills the last two weeks.

Everything is debatable but it wouldn't be a very long debate.

LA doesn't care about the Chargers
Billy Claude replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
The most likely scenario for the Saudis to get involved with the football is for them to simply buy a NFL team like they have done with Newcastle United in the Premier League (or how other Arab money own PSG and Manchester City). The Chargers would actually be a good target for purchase. The only issue is that they will have a more difficult time winning due to the NFL salary cap versus the easily skirted UEFA Financial Fair Play rules. The NFL also has rules against owning multiple teams so they would need to do it with front companies/institutions to own more than one team to increase influence. I don't think they would want a team in Saudi Arabia, but they certainly have had no issues getting soccer players to do their retirement tour in Riyadh instead of the US (with Messi being the notable exception). -
OK. Thanks.

I thought he didn't have to go through waivers since he is a seven year vet.
-
So what happened to Ifedi? Surprised that Miami or Cleveland didn't pick him up given all the injuries that they have experienced to their o-line.

You might be right that Zach can be reclaimed but I am not sure about the Tannehill comparison. The Jets certainly have mismanaged Zach Wilson badly but Tannehill actually had at least one pretty good year in Miami while Wilson has looked pretty bad the whole time in NY. The only improvement for Zach this year is that he appears to be the best of the Jets QBs (Boyle and Siemian) versus the worse of the Jets QBs last year (Flacco and White).
