A lot of it is opponents…even the bad teams we’ve played have had a monster or two or three on the defensive line. Leaving brown one on one with like maxx Crosby just to please the people lurking on the message board looking for a ton of receiving yards out of Kincaid wouldve been ridiculous 😂 Vs the jags we got absolutely mauled in the trenches and both our tackles needed a ton of help I’d let the season play out a little longer…I think people are comparing the offense to Miami’s who will have played probably 4 of the bottom 5 teams in the league and the chargers on top of that who are probably the second worst defense in the league we’re likely going to light up all those teams too(except for the panthers who we don’t play)
-
Everyone complaining about Kincaid running short routes needs to read this lol if you’re just sending tight ends down the seam brown is gonna go full turnstile and nobody will be getting the ball 😂
-
They are chipping a ton because Spencer brown is terrible…can’t run as deep routes with tight ends that way. Vs the jags Spencer brown and Dawkins were both terrible which is why the offense looked especially rough. Tough to help out the RT and the LT at the same time. Josh balled out considering if our tight ends were just free releasing down the seam josh would be getting bludgeoned every down. You need time to hit those long developing routes y’all are looking for

Milano/Jones BOTH require surgery; Per McDermott
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t think the bills have officially said anything besides knee/lower leg injury that will require surgery so all of that is speculation…there was also a quote that they feared ligament damage I believe but it was never confirmed People just guessing based on the phrasing of knee/lower leg it seems. -
Milano/Jones BOTH require surgery; Per McDermott

I think they’re waiting to see if milano’s knee ligaments are intact when they get in there. it’s probably closer to good news than bad that we haven’t heard anything…maybe things didn’t look too bad in the X-rays/mris Minor fractures don’t take terribly long to heal if that’s all he’s dealing with he could be back. torn pec feels like more of a ‘you could return at massively diminished effectiveness so what’s the point’ issue though so I’m less optimistic on jones he probably could play in the playoffs in a harness -
Roger Goodell said today's game was an experiment??

It’s always been an obligation to money for him, but sometimes safety issues end up costing him money so those get addressed 😂 -
Silver linings with the Injuries?
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tre injury will be ok once benford returns…also once we get all our pass rushers back I think a lot of the back end coverage issues will get covered up. poona could be an ok replacement for jones although there’s admittedly a dropoff there. The Milano injury hurts though it’s crazy how many guys had short term injuries too against the jags though. It’s honestly kind of embarrassing they only scored 25? Haha idk if it’s too soon to be saying things like that. That was pretty much a preseason let’s see what we’ve got in our third string type defense i think the best silver lining is you need guys that can make impact plays and get a couple stops against the chiefs of the league so as long as the offense is intact and you’ve got a couple of those types of defensive players there’s always a chance. We’ve still got those type of players on the defensive line look at kc they’ve had pretty much one impact player on defense in their Super Bowl runs and he made a big play every time they needed one. -
Yea I don’t even think he had to rip the ball out and possess it solo though…if he just falls on top of the guy with his hands still on the ball too we probably get credit for the catch. a lot of that would’ve come down to the ruling on the field though of course
-
Yea the majority of Josh’s ints actually have helped us. One was an arm punt on 2nd and long which isn’t a huge negative but it’s throwing a down away, and one was a very bad pick at midfield against the jets. all the others were fine. It’s kind of crazy all ints count the same on that stat sheet 😂 I can’t believe how important that play to diggs was. Obviously you change the way the game is played a bit but that could’ve been a 400 passing yard 4 total td win for josh if diggs hangs on to that ball that was literally in his hands
-
Haha yea I was chuckling about that as I was posting…still an absolute nonsense call. I believe it was Tyler kroft and that ended up sparking a huge rams comeback
-
That’s gotta go down for a joint possession at worst I still cannot believe that play…looked like diggs caught it and he lost the wrestle for the football on the way down have to say though if he wasn’t gonna hang on to it an interception was probably the second best option lol josh is slowly turning into an elite punter too 😂 I’d normally agree with you but jax was taking this a bit to the extreme. I think the way they were loading the box we probably ran the ball too much if anything if you could believe that lol but we likely still wanted play action to remain somewhat effective.

This is absolute bollocks haha if anything, he trusted his progressions and reads TOO MUCH in this game. He had to improvise more and find big chunks of yardage because stringing long drives together with two of his tackles playing terribly and receivers dropping balls was impossible. even though this was a loss I feel like it’s more evidence that he could be the best in the league. He was virtually lights out and pretty much everyone on the field let him down…unless you want to harp on the fact that he slightly underthrew a 70 yard laser under pressure. I also don’t really see it talked about, maybe because they’re the jags which somehow keeps him from being a household name but other josh Allen is an absolute beast. He pretty much wrecked our offensive line single handedly

Bills signing Josh Norman - yes, seriously
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I feel like it’s the classic let’s pick up a bad player that knows the system over a pretty bad player that doesn’t. I mean he’s comfortable with him cuz he’s played in the system…he could probably find a slightly better player in free agency that will take time to learn the defense. We need bodies right away until benford returns -
I’d say they’re still pretty positive…in all the things that went wrong in that game if Dawkins played like 10% better we would’ve won. Brown gets a ton of help with chips and whatnot so Dawkins has to hold up. diggs and Allen have gotta feel like as long as they’re both playing well the team is in good enough shape
-
I guess I’m not being clear enough haha the refs may have impacted the ending of the game for sure but the initial reaction was to flame the team and I didn’t really see many goin after the refs. it just felt like a total crap fest blowing a first half lead against the Zach Wilson jets. Really shouldn’t have been in that position in the first place the jags game definitely felt different…any time we got a big stop on defense or moved the chains on offense the flags flew in. Jets game it was one call at the end of the game that maybe/maybe not would’ve changed the outcome
-
I don’t understand the term hero ball at all haha but my best guess given the context is people would see josh dancing around while the oline is collapsing trying to buy time to hit a deep shot as hero ball if it didn’t get the results they were looking for 😂 A lot of the hero ball criticism relies on ignoring those types of plays when they do work so the whole thing is a bit hypocritical in my opinion. Josh is making what should be considered hero ball type plays consistently but they are only brought up when they go wrong
-
I think the op’s point was we needed more hero ball depending on what the definition of hero ball is…and if he had attacked deep more and thrown another int people would’ve been saying ‘sugar high josh at it again’ when in reality it is what the game required it also didn’t help that 4 pretty much wide open drops killed drives, tough to hold that against the qb. And the drives where we did score he had to overcome multiple holding penalties these critiques are all hindsight-y really. Like obviously if they knew going into it the team would forget how to catch on virtually every big third and medium attempt all game they would’ve taken a lot more shots on earlier downs. We have that information because the game is already over. But in the moment you’re down one score so there’s no reason to abandon what you’re doing
-
The stafford/Kupp rams were 3-5 to open the season with a notable loss to the cooper rush cowboys. They were not even mediocre…losing whitworth sunk the oline, losing von sunk the pass rush. The rams team the bills saw week 1 was below average. calling them the Super Bowl winner is even more absurd than likening them to the raiders/commanders this year who will also be around that 3-5 mark
-
Genuinely what is ‘hero ball’…this is one of my biggest pet peeves in football discourse right now 😂 the dude had to dodge pass rushers to buy himself time to attack deep to move the ball. Is that not hero ball? Is it only called hero ball when it doesn’t work? If hero ball is finding a way to push the ball down the field when your offensive line is getting smoked we likely needed even more hero ball in that one lol

I wouldn’t worry about Miami just yet…3 of their 4 wins are likely against three of the bottom 5 teams in the league and they just snuck by a pretty good afc team week 1. That’s kind of their MO in the McDaniel era. They’re 2-6 against playoff teams and those two wins are against injury riddled ravens and bills squads that they barely beat. on the flip side of everything you said, beating Miami was huge for us. If we beat them again that’s a guaranteed tiebreaker against the only afc east team that matters -
We did not destroy the ‘Super Bowl champ’ rams last year…we destroyed a team that was at the same level as our raiders/commanders wins this year. The Super Bowl champ rams were disbanded in the offseason immediately following the superbowl. we get a 1.5 game swing on Miami if we beat them in the final week of the season and they’ve had a few extremely easy opponents also…arguably the two worst teams in the league(Denver,NYG) and probably 3 of the bottom 5 (Denver,NYG,NE). Their only quality win was just sneaking past LAC. Miami also has a well established track record of losing to teams that end up appearing in the playoffs (2-6 total, 2-4 with tua). Those two wins were against injury ravaged baltimore and buffalo teams and they just squeaked by.

Oh not a gimmie by any means…I just didn’t see too many complaints about it because we played like absolute garbage so it wasn’t even worth complaining about for most. im not trying to argue that it wasn’t a trip this game felt different to me…that poyer personal foul completely swung the game imo…our starting field position was mostly terrible and that was pretty much the only time we got a stop on an early set of downs and were set to take over with good field position. All the offensive holds were only getting called one way too…most of the second half we were blitzing and the jags just held everybody but no calls. Just not sure what you’re supposed to do in that situation…holds are drive killers and a few of them we got called for were equal to or even less innocuous than what the jags weren’t getting called for
-
We’d need a complete overhaul of the offensive line…they’re pretty good in pass protection but not great at run blocking as it stands
-
Bills could be good enough…the eagles and niners cant both make it to the Super Bowl. Nobody in the afc looks remotely close to unbeatable right now
-
The chiefs have games like this but they’re getting bailed out by the refs on a weekly basis. They could’ve easily lost to the jets and Vikings
