Would you rather playoff seeding scenario?
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think for me i gotta know what win total teams got to really think about the probabilities. Like if pit keeps Baltimore out and is 11-6 with wins over Detroit and the ravens down the stretch we probably won’t feel great going in there on the road when that moment comes. I don’t expect this part of it to be the case but they could even beat us in the regular season. If they limp in I can definitely get behind the layup game type vibe. Same kinda deal with the broncos although we don’t play them. -

Yea feels like people are in a bit of denial about how much dumb luck there is in a single game elimination football playoff. Even if you’re a pretty big favorite in the road wildcard game it’s probably a 60/40 odds type situation that you entirely skip by getting a bye instead and who knows how the wear and tear of that game could effect the next game If pit keeps Baltimore out and ends up the ‘worst’ division winner I don’t think we’d be that big a favorite in that 4 vs 5 wildcard game tbh. They would’ve had to have beaten a few good teams down the stretch.. of course if Baltimore just implodes and pit looks meh maybe the optics are different -

Yea I think people are picturing how the broncos/steelers look now when they choose but I don’t really see the broncos holding off the chiefs without beating some good teams down the stretch. Same goes for the Steelers and ravens the pats would be in that mix too who maybe would’ve beat us twice if we end up the 5 seed. The dynamics change a lot based on how teams got to certain win totals. If the pats lose the rematch to us but end up a win ahead I wouldn’t even think twice about possibly seeing them again -

Colts can probably coast to an afc south win but if someone like pit or denver does enough to hold off the ravens/chiefs down the stretch they are probably pretty good teams at minimum. Right now yea it’s easy to see those two teams as pretty ehh but it’s gonna take a couple months of solid efforts to keep the ravens and chiefs out. I think I’d rather play the lowest remaining seed in the divisional and the conf championship both at home than three pretty good teams on the road but I can see both sides. Football is just so unpredictable…if the wrong guy gets injured in the wildcard round the party is over -

Some of it comes down to seeding but the extra rest/prep time against the divisional opponent goes a long way imo if the ravens and chiefs both make the playoffs and play eachother before they play us, 1 seed is a no brainer imo. If we’d get one of them in the divisional and possibly 1 in the conference championship I can see the other side of it but would probably go 1 seed still -

Here’s to hoping it’s the last time Travis sees old Highmark (meant in a good way for our team) 😂 -

It’d be interesting to look at the whole league’s injury situation…really feels like it’s happening to everybody this year. Miami lost two corners right in a row in camp and the guy they brought in to replace them is now injured too. Wild -

Man …looking back, Miami’s first 3 games were kinda a meat grinder who knew at the time 😂 got written off after losing to Indy,NE, and Buffalo but honestly probably could’ve turned it around a small amount if tyreek survived that jets game. Maybe they’re 4-5 ish if he stayed healthy. really only lost that NE game by achane’s toe also not trying to talk up the tyreek-less dolphins haha but it’s interesting to think about how much of an embarrassment those first two losses seemed at the time and how solid those two teams ended up being. Colts pats bills are a combined 20-6 now -

Dolphins have some important guys banged up too…chop Robinson missed practice again which is probably a bigger deal now that jaelan phillips is gone. No Rasul Douglas (who’s been pretty darn good tbh) means Ethan Bonner will probably get his first start bradley Chubb and Zach Sieler are dealing with minor stuff but will play I’d guess -

Depth has been an issue imo…becomes more glaring as the season goes on cuz you’re gonna lose some guys for the season Stuff like benford going down and getting replaced by Elam just can’t happen. Can’t have depth everywhere but cb is not the one I woulda messed with 😂 Depth this year feels better but hopefully Ed at least can come back for the playoffs when you’re in a cap pickle really gotta hit on a lot of picks to have decent depth. It’s feelin like we had a solid draft and players from previous classes have turned the corner a bit too -

There’s absolutely no shot this is the case lol it’s straight up cope based on them not wanting to believe that Buffalo is right there with them and that these playoff games could easily be going either way They needed this one badly for playoff positioning, the game last year was their last hurdle for a perfect regular season, and the season before that they had a really good shot to eliminate a team that plays them pretty tough from playoff contention. Absolutely no shot they held back in any of those games. if you swapped Elam in for benford like what happened in the playoffs the chiefs probably win this regular season game. The playoff games really aren’t all that different stylistically. The year they whooped us in the playoffs they whooped us in the regular season, the years the regular season games are extremely close and hinge on the outcome of 1-2 plays, the playoffs go the same way -
Bills Draft History - The Price For Shaheed

He’s definitely a bit raw still…seems a little odd for a midseason rental. Seahawks were in better shape to do that with him having history with their OC i think if he had a full year learning the system he could be a difference maker but that wasn’t really the situation if he wasn’t a bad run blocker I think the bills might’ve rolled the dice on him hoping he picked some things up fast enough could end up being a good player for sure I just don’t think he’s at the wr iq level to pick up a new offense in a half season yet
