Gabe Davis Finally activated to PS
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Keon seems like a really good run blocker to me so he’ll probably get a pretty long leash. Obviously you can’t keep a guy like that around too long if he gives you nothing in the passing game though but I’d expect him to keep getting snaps this regular season at least. Funny enough I feel like Gabe was kinda the same deal haha Gabe would honestly probably still be here on his first stint if there wasn’t a team that would overpay him I don’t think fans take wr run blocking seriously but the bills definitely seem to…I don’t think it’s by chance they’ve had Gabe, Mack hollins and Keon the last few years -
The ebb and flow of nfl roster construction is pretty interesting…I think we’re at a point where most defenses just don’t have the personnel to stop a team that can run it well out of heavier sets because everyone went all in on rushing the passer / taking the passing game away. I really think the bills are kinda doing what puts the most pressure possible on the opposing defenses and fans just aren’t entertained by it. Of course we should definitely add a wr…not disagreeing with that, but all this general hate for a good running game is pretty wild to me. If the chiefs had this in their bag of tricks I don’t think they’d ever lose

There’s definitely truth to both sides…bills need a receiver and most people underestimate what a good running game can do/take it for granted.. it’s definitely hyperbole to phrase it as ‘bills don’t have a receiver problem’ though lol like I get they value heavier sets/receivers that can block well but you need to be getting at least some juice out of these guys in the passing game

I still think he’s just smarter about taking hits in the regular season tbh. If he’s got a lane to get a decent chunk of yardage and slide he’ll take it. Or if the game is going poorly and we’re in danger of losing. Our two losses he had 6 carries for 42 yds and 9 carries for 53 yds.. average of those two is 47.5 rushing yards per game and a whole season of that is over 800 rushing yards. Even with this new philosophy of minimizing injury risk he’s still on pace for his average season rushing yardage total

They haven’t had a bye yet which is probably effecting things if you’re lookin at total yardage…a big chunk of teams ahead of them in rushing yards allowed have only played 7 games. Ignoring the bills game, panthers are averaging 92.57 rushing yards allowed per game which would be 7th right now. With the bills game included their 16th with 111.6 yards allowed per game

Hunter and BTJ are big names but two of the worst receivers I’ve watched in the league this year tbh. Granted hunter is playing two positions and brand new to the league. Really not sure what’s going on down there lol they are definitely buffalo bills-coded right now 😂 hearing people describe guys like meyers as mediocre then saying we should trade the farm for BTJ are giving me heart palpitations. legette is horrendous. honestly BTJ, legette and hunter have gotta be in the bottom 5 of PFF if I had to guess haha I gotta go fact check myself

I think people read a little too much into that personally. Every game vs the chiefs comes down to 1-2 super high impact plays and in the regular season we’ve been making those plays and playoffs we haven’t. Both teams will do things a little differently in the playoffs regardless of whether they win or lose this game last year we couldn’t run the ball with rbs at all in the regular season and come playoff time we were running pretty much at will for a lot of the game. Never really saw anyone run on the chiefs defense like that. Regular season they were down a corner and we just picked on the replacement too can’t remember exactly who it was. Then in the playoff game we were down the corner and they picked on our replacement lol the running game between the two games was like night and day different it’s actually pretty interesting…regular season the non josh runners had 19 carries for 49 yds 2.6ypc. Playoff game they had 21 carries for 108 yds 5.1 ypc. There’s this weird idea that if a team has a good game running the football that the defense just wasn’t trying to stop it. Bills ran the ball much better in the playoff game compared to the regular season last year bad receivers and all lol I sincerely doubt the playoff chiefs defense just didn’t care about stopping the run for a lot of that one the running game feels so underappreciated I’m always surprised by it 😂 teams make adjustments to their rushing offense week to week but it feels like most fans treat it as they just do the same thing over and over again and the defense just lets them

Not trying to say he’s a world beater by any means but meyers would be as good as any outside wr we’ve had in Josh’s tenure outside of prime Diggs…even late Buffalo Diggs had more of a slot skillset I’d say im glad the fans don’t run the team haha turning down meyers is kinda crazy. Like yea sure having aj brown would be better than meyers obviously but a lot of these hypothetical trades for great players don’t make financial sense for either team and are wildly unrealistic

BTJ is one of the worst receivers in the league this year based on some analytics and that hasn’t stopped anyone from wanting him haha not sure on that ‘slightly’ label being applied to the man separation chart at least. Keon and meyers are night and day different there. This feels like people are falling for the ‘household name’ trap…Meyers would be an immediate sizeable upgrade but since he spent some ok years in NE it’s getting scoffed at for some reason idk how pressure rate is adjusted for in these charts…the raiders oline has been dreadful whenever I’ve seen them which would make coverage times shorter and separation harder
