I hope they lose money on this product. Sellouts. There is no middle ground here.

NFL Network layoffs begin, ESPN layoffs expected
In Summary replied to dpberr's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cut cable some years back. I occasionally see ESPN and I never feel smarter or more informed for having watched it. Sure, I get nuggets about who Tweeted what and who reacted and who's overrated and who said the wrong thing and should be cancelled, but it's not useful. Often, it's just loud bombast. The world of streaming and podcasts has made ESPN unneeded. -
The Bills deserve a dominant inside OL player. That player is still not on the team.

If the draft we're today...
In Summary replied to Floridagatorsbuffalobills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes. Not just his backup, but also his successor. -
Good article. This sticks with me, "This is the team’s most important draft since ’18." Have to agree. To me, what has to change is this: Allen only has so much mental processing and athletic movement he can do on a given play. Consider this his "play capacity". When the Bill don't give him a line where he can calm down, set his feet, and throw on rhythm, the majority of his play capacity is used on evasion and improvising. I think the Bills waste his play capacity on him escaping and improvising instead of giving him a line where his capacity is used properly to execute plays and make the best decisions. Daboll ran Josh into traffic to build his career and Beane cheaped out on the OL to give McDermott his 8 starting D linemen. Both are Allen abuse.

I think the 1-tech is arguably more important that the 3 for the type of off-the-ball coverage type LBs McDermott prefers. When opposing guards get their hands on our LB's it's not a good matchup. I look at Jones and see someone who doesn't get redirected easily, foils plans, and does at least average at owning his interior gaps. The 1-techs who can push a guy back contribute to the pass rush in their own less-flashy way. Maybe I'm just a relic and like boring things but hearing about the endless slew of marginal 3-tech prospects with two NCAA level pass rush moves that "could play 1 tech if needed" doesn't excite me. Bills in a much better position this year than last when they had no answer at 1-tech, but I'd like to see them draft a young Jones clone this year or next. (Jones was a 4th round pick)

Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
In Summary replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree. Feels like another short-term fix to avoid having to draft successfully. I don't care to spend draft picks on trades when they should be used to affordably play young players for 4-5 years. Is he the next James Lofton who came to Buffalo at ~33 years of age? -
Yes. I don’t fully get why either. Obsession with D line, ghosts of Zay Jones, ??. Hopefully WR and OL are now on his DRAFT radar in a serios way.

Handing out draft picks like Halloween candy is a no-go.

Bills Fans Call Out Cole Beasley for ‘Slander’
In Summary replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nobody cares. Refreshing to hear someone who doesn't buy into media group think. Can he catch the ball? Can he catch the ball for the Bills? That's what's important. -
I'll give Beane points for doing his job to find cap room. Not sure that I'm overly excited by any of the people he signed. They help and they prevent glaring holes (+), but none are really "wow" players. I won't accept signing one free agent "not a power player" guard as significantly improving the OL nor do I consider another diminutive WR the answer to improving the WR corps. They are at least on the younger side which is good. Beane needs to be above average in the draft. Round 1-3 picks need to get on the field and contribute. They need to be archetypal players and not in some "less than 10%" metric for size, RAS, etc. Don't try to evolve the position faster than the game only to have it come back on you.

Bernard vs Dodson: Tale of the Tape
In Summary replied to TheyCallMeAndy's topic in The Stadium Wall
If that's the plan, it's yet one more reason why Jones is so important - not to mention a Jones clone for backup. -
I did not expect this. I figured the lure of sunny beaches and pressure from his wife would be too much. Poyer, Milano, and Jones give strength at every level.

Is 2023 THE absolute year we go all in with no other options to compliment Diggs? If not (as in we believe in an extended Superbowl window), then let Diggs and maybe Beasley be our older veterans while we use our draft capital to stock the youth pipeline.

.......but he knows the defense.

What’s your offer for WR Jerry Jeudy?
In Summary replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
In a multi-team trade, I acquire both Christian Wilkins' and Jeudy so I can claim Punch and Jeudy. -
Cover 1 seemed to like his pass blocking. You're spot on IMO in that the Bills simply don't insist on premier run blocking due to who they are. Average pass blocking at an affordable price - that's their way. That doesn't mean that I don't want a more dominating and complete guard. Now I'm wondering if they take an interior O lineman with an early pick or if they're done?
-
That would make versatility a good thing. Have to plan for losing Morse - too many shots to the head.
-
It's a good start. Would like for once the Bills to prioritize dominance over versatility on the OL. Was 2009 Incognito the last time we had dominance at guard?
-
If we're going to overpay a bit, I'd prefer it be for offense. What does a defense have to do anymore? Get a couple turnovers and prevent 2-3 drives from scoring. If you can do that without paying your two starting LB's over $25 million combined, then don't. Congrats to Tremain though for being a gentleman here and representing both himself and the Bills with class.
