  1. They must have had bad luck in the drawing.
  2. I inadvertently caught her at a bluegrass festival one time and she started off by walking onto a stage with no fanfare, accompanied by only one guy carrying a single drum and she then proceeded to rip my soul right out of my chest while I stood there like this: 😯 An unreal level of presence and power when she's standing right in front of you.
  3. Rhiannon Giddens deserves a slot here. No posing, no preening, no shoes; just pure power. She can tear up a fiddle too:
  4. Cool interactive site if you click on the cover
  5. I have no idea what this song is even about but you can feel it across 30 years.
  6. He's still "wandering" around the Bronx at the ripe old age of 85.
  7. I almost went with this; one of my favorites. 🤙
  8. I think they just both worked in the same place
  9. Not only is one of those guys still around, he is actually in this very thread. 🤯
  10. There's actually a bunch of us who joined on that exact date (or used to be; many have moved on). I think it was the first day that SDS had completed all his prep and made the new site available. I could be wrong but I think that SDS is the only person that actually has a join date prior to September 5, 2001 and he's only a few days earlier. We be OGs, homey.
  11. Larry Moss was Brown's stepfather; he married Brown's mother and raised Antonio from around age 5.
  12. Anybody else read the title and immediately think that Dawkins would look like Belushi sneaking into Dean Wormer's building?
  13. He's been a total *****nut since he was a teenager. Direct quotes from his stepfather: 'A lot of things that Tony's doing, nothing surprises me. I'm surprised that it took them this long to figure him out. Because he’s been this way since he’s been 12 years old..... it was just one thing after another, one thing after another,” Moss said. “He was just a problem kid, man.... Antonio Brown is a fraud, man. He's not a good person."
  14. As a (former) Pirates fan I was required by law to hope that Bonds would get plunked in his fat head every time he stepped to the plate.
  15. Honestly, I think the whole HR derby thing just makes the game even more boring to watch. I'd much rather watch guys raking balls into gaps, good gloves, aggressive base-running, big throws on plays at the plate, etc.
  16. I want to see them doing monkey rolls while they're wearing them
  17. Once the Bills let Cook walk sail, maybe it will be safe for them to sign Hawaiian players again.
  18. I take it you've never met these two?
  19. You were not kidding; that actually hurt Here's a couple pieces from Spearhead & Franti with a different feel/delivery you might like better. And a couple more oldschool guys that you might not have been lucky enough to be exposed to yet:
  20. It was like rap and slam poetry both sort of evolved around a similar time from the same spoken word source. I miss the earlier days when folks were more willing to work alongside live musicians; I feel like an important aspect has been lost since that has gone out of vogue. Shout out to @R. Rich for turning me on to a lot of this. This was the peak of its artistic form, imo.
  21. You're probably thinking of Debby Harry of Blondie; it wasn't the first but it was the first to get near the top of charts. I was jamming with a bunch of older black dudes one night and one of them told me the first actual rapper was Frank Zappa
  22. He's been genuinely outstanding with the ball in his hands for the last year and a half. But all you really need to know is that when it came time for what was literally the biggest, most important possession of the entire season, the coaching staff was more comfortable with James Cook on the bench. 🤔 That is not the kind of reality we can just readily dismiss.
