  1. An outstanding synopsis deserving to be quoted in full. Thank for the effort mac! Go Swedes!!!
  2. I did the same exact thing . Actually with about 3:00 left I jumped over the coffee table yelling "Holy $^&^ #%$# (**&^ &^$%!!!!" and spent the next couple minutes less than 4' from a 56" screen.
  3. A few thoughts: - I love the EJohnson/Gleason pairing. I think I feel comfortable with them out there against any line in the world right now. - Throw Orpik and Rafalski in there and the US has a nice corps of very reliable defenseman. - I know Sid likes to whip it around but that extra pass he threw in a 1 goal game in the 3rd made me wonder if Ryan Miller wasn't in his head a little bit. - I like this team so much better than what we've had to watch for so long now. When you take Tkachuck, the Hatcher brothers, Hull and Modano off the team they are soooo much easier to really root for. Now if somebody will just get rid if Ron Wilson. - Just when I was starting to wonder if maybe this stage was a little too big for Patrick Kane yet, he came out and played a fantastic 3rd period. He was really huge when the US took a 4-2 and started to turtle; him and Parise really pulled them out of it. - If the US was going to keep a vet or two for big moments in these short tournaments they couldn't have made a better choice than Chris Drury. - Hey Phil Kessel. Quit acting like a Maple Bruin and go to freaking work. - Props to Dustin Brown who was a rock tonight and especially Langenbrunner who was all over the ice. He sure is a lot less of a bastard when he's on your team. - I really liked Gary Suter and want to like Ryan Suter. And I really want to like Ryan Callahan cuz he's a Western New Yorker. But they've both been driving me nuts(pirate aarrrrrrggghhh) all week. - Was anybody else jumping and flopping all over their living room for the last 3 minutes or am I way overgeeked for a "prelim" game? With the Bills and Sabres being irrelevant for so long that was a really enjoyable experience to be that into a game. My wife hadn't seen me like that in years and seemed a bit horrified. - Anybody know who we've got next and when?
  4. I hope your boys get it together cuz I'd love to watch those two go at it again in an elimination game.
  5. Olczyk used to call Pens games a while back and the joke around here was that he was so bad in the booth they made him the coach just so they could fire him. Personally I thought that was an excellent line to describe what was happening at the time.
  6. I have DTV, which is the leading satellite provider and have no option to watch the game in HD tonight. I don't know but I've got to believe that a lot more folks have USAHD than MSNBCHD. I sprung for a 56" Samsung for stuff like this and it drives me batty that I can't even get the full benefits of it.
  7. I don't fault them for their programming decision, but why not give the game to USA network as they did both games earlier this week? At least then we could watch it in HD and I won't have to go searching around my line-up trying to figure out where msnbc is.
  8. Actually you were asked to keep the politics on the politics board. But if you want to tell lies and be a jackass, we can play that way, too.
  9. NHL Network is currently showing all 3 games of the '96 Canada Cup final. For my money this is the greatest hockey ever played.
  10. Perhaps you could point out where in the thread before my first post you said it was Obama who had made that comment. How was I supposed to know yo were joking about a comment he made? And after making a benign comment like "maybe it did" and then attempting to respond earnestly and honestly to your question since you claimed you were genuinely interested and open, you felt the need to accuse me of racing to defend a guy who I neither voted for nor even knew was a factor in the thread. And then you top it off by crying about me mocking you? Whatever...
  11. Considering that I had no idea he ever said such a thing and that I referred to his administration as incompetent bunglers, I guess it's no surprise you interpret that as "defending" him. It goes along well with the other accurate and insightful analysis that you frequently provide. Apparently the only thing frequently "open" on you is your mouth.
  12. After years of bungling incompetence by the Bush administration people got tired of popping open their newspapers and reading about how awful things were and then went out and voted in a manner that maybe was not typical of them. After another year of more bungling incompetence and continuing to read about how awful things were people went out and voted in a manner that maybe was not typical of them. I don't think it's outlandish to consider the possibility that maybe the same mechanism was at work.
  13. Yeah, and 30 years ago a bunch of overly proud scientists and citizens were sitting around talking about how much more they know know than the people who first started working with these elements 30 years ago. Believing that a scant 30 years of frequently retarded research is anything more than an incremental advance in our overall understanding and ability to control these processes is a ridiculous hubris. So your solution to this problem is "let's create more unstable hazardous waste because we'll probably be able to figure out what to do with it someday"? I'm thinking I might be more comfortable with this if our plan was maybe just a little more well-defined than that. Suggesting that maybe it's not worth it to continue to shlt where we eat is now a Connerism? Think of it like federal spending. Maybe instead of focusing on how we can generate more revenue/power, maybe we'd be wise to first explore how we can cut spending/usage.
  14. For the purposes of this discussion, not really. Any new plants are inevitably going to exist in both states anyways, so it's sort of a moot point. I look at the tritium issue as more of a symptom than a disease. If A sucks. And B sucks slightly less but in a different way. The bottom line is that they both still suck, so does it really matter that much which one sucks more? It still sucks. Are you seriously suggesting that because it's impossible to precisely quantify how much tritium a given person needs to ingest before they develop cancer, that it shouldn't be discussed as a potential problem?
  15. [This is an automated response] As a courtesy to the other board members, please use more descriptive subject lines. The topic starter can edit the subject line to make it more appropriate. Thank you.
  16. Does it matter? Tritium. You know that stuff in your glow in the dark watch? How much money would it take to get you to suck the juice out of one of those? Or put it in Junior's Gerber's? You know damned well it's a result of fission. And again does it really matter? Coal may be worse overall but if a significant number of nuke plants are already leaking toxins in high enough concentrations to raise NRC flags, is this really the alternative we want to pour resources into? I don't know. You want to find out? Ooooooh 30 years. Whats the half-life of various plutonium and uranium isotopes? You're going to need an exponent. 30 years. Give me a break. Those are awful big stakes you're ok with. And what's the upside here? Producing enough power so that a bunch of lazy spoiled marshmallows can sit in their 78 degree houses in February, leave their lights on all day, run their AC all night and have street lights every 100 feet. Yeah, pouring poisons into our air and water is definitely worth it for all that.
  17. Or maybe somebody who's not entirely comfortable with the fact that over a quarter of our nuclear plants are currently leaking toxic carcinogens into the ground. You know, those crazy people who don't want to get cancer from a glass of water.
  18. Yeah, I'm going to be stealing that.
  19. 9 _______________ It's the only route Lee Evans can run.
  20. 6 _______________ bankruptcy, war, corruption, energy issues, lack of industry, etc And instead of addressing it, your boys decide to focus primarily on putting a gifu(kingnormous government boondoggle on the table. And then you're moaning that the Republicans told you to get fu(ked? What the hell do you expect them to do?! I'm thankful they stopped that shlt in its tracks. Your boys are as much if not more to blame than anybody.
  21. 1 _______________ Wouldn't just be easier to go to the DMV and change your license? Take your coat off and stay a while.
  22. = __________________ This is actually the first time in over 5 years I feel better than nauseated about the Bills future.
