  1. Yeah, that would be part of the calculus. Kind of equates to playing not to lose instead of coaching aggressively. I'm not sure if I agree with this.
  2. BUF 13 NE 24 I think there's a lot running against the Bills in this game, and unless there is any significant change on the Covid front, I would consider a win to be one of the very most impressive of the McDermott regime. I hope to death I'm wrong about this, but I envision: The NE defensive scheme wreaking havoc on the Bills' offensive line, with the rookie Brown at left tackle and several other positions shifted like last week Allen committing a couple of turnovers due to the necessitation of hero mode, which will lead to NE points despite a lackluster NE offensive effort To beat NE, you have to play almost perfectly, and I have a hard time envisioning the Bills doing that with the OL situation being what it is. Of course, the Beasley absence/Covid distraction that we all thought would come at some point is here at the worst of times, and I think this is also at least a mild factor to consider. Other things potentially going against the Bills: Patriots/Belichick coming off of a loss Belichick mad about McDermott not crediting him after MNF game I can't remember the last time the Bills won a big swing game like this, when a win vs. a loss makes such a massive difference to the team's prospects The Bills have struggled mightily in Sunday afternoon games broadcasted to a large, non-regional audience, going 1-6 since 2019 (see below)* Blue pants are still a possibility as of this writing, although they did wear them last year in the big win at NE *Here is how the Bills have fared since 2019 in Sunday afternoon games broadcasted to large, non-regional audiences: 2021, Week 14: @ TB, L 2021, Week 1: PIT, L 2020, Week 10: @ ARI, L 2020, Week 4: @ LV, W 2019, Week 14: BAL, L 2019, Week 8: PHI, L 2019, Week 4: NE, L
  3. Frank Reich told his team before the Patriots game, "We have to win this game." I get the feeling that McDermott doesn't use this approach; it seems like he relies on the players' professionalism. On One Bills Live just now, Chris and Steve were saying players shouldn't need any extra juice. While I agree to an extent, I feel like we've seen players respond well when given that extra juice. I wonder if it's something that's missing with the Bills at times.
  4. Gridiron Uniform Database still has them all white but with "TBA" written across...
  5. For what other QBs would the thread title use the QB's first name instead of last name? I continue to be mystified by why Mayfield is always called "Baker" for some reason. It makes no sense
  6. Don't let a punt get blocked Don't slip at goal line Someone, anyone make one damn play against Urban Meyer Moss, run to the right Refs, call PI against Diggs The Bills could so so easily be 13-1, which would make a lot of sense with that point differential As it is, they have to fight and claw for their playoff lives in the biggest game imaginable this Sunday, as underdogs. If they don't win, they'll be roughly 50-50 to make the playoffs as a Wild Card and we'll 100% be scoreboard-watching despite league-leading point differential. It's crazy Win just one of those five games we should have won and everything would be different.
  7. How on Earth would they be able to rest against the Jets? In all scenarios, they absolutely need to win that game.
  8. Meh. The Bills are the better team and should win the game. It will be a great playoff-type test.
  9. The one thing I am most confident in is that it won't be Spencer Brown. Maybe I'm wrong, but.
  10. ? I've never done anything except share opinions that are sometimes less optimistic than others. I've been wildly positive at times too. I'm just so tired of being called a troll just because I'm not always blindly believing the best.
  11. Of course he gets credit for Allen. But there's no reason he couldn't have done a better job of roster building around him.
  12. Imagine the Colts with Josh Allen Outside of the QB, this is a much better football team than the Bills
  13. Guy, it's an image, not a quote tweet. That's the giveaway that it's fake.
  14. Initial credit on this goes to someone on Twitter who mentioned this; I haven't been able to track down the original tweet, but I have now done the research to verify it myself. If Bills make playoffs, it would buck 24-year trend of at least one conference finalist from prior year not reaching playoffs the next year. This has happened every year since 1996. Last year, the conference finalists were TB, GB, KC, and BUF. This year, TB and GB are 10-3, and KC is 10-4. These three teams are going to the playoffs, leaving only the Bills at 7-6. The question now becomes: Will the Bills buck the 24-year trend and make the playoffs, or will the streak continue to 25 years? Listed below are the conference finalists from the year prior who failed to make the playoffs the next year. (Year listed is year playoffs were missed.) 1997: CAR 1998: PIT 1999: ATL, DEN, NYJ 2000: JAC 2001: NYG, MIN 2002: STL, NE 2003: TB, OAK 2004: CAR 2005: PHI, ATL 2006: CAR, PIT, DEN 2007: CHI, NO 2008: GB, NE 2009: PIT 2010: MIN 2011: CHI, NYJ 2012: NYG 2013: ATL, BAL 2014: SF 2015: IND 2016: CAR, ARI, DEN 2017: GB 2018: MIN, JAC 2019: LAR 2020: SF 2021: ? Turns out, missing the playoffs after reaching the conference title game is very common. Since 1996, it has happened 4x to PIT, 3x to ATL, DEN, and MIN, and 2x to numerous other clubs. So what's going to happen? Will the Bills be the exception or the rule?
  15. This could still happen. Just goes to show we're a long way from knowing much...
  16. After listening to Sean McDermott's comments, it sounds like we are hurtling towards Bobby Hart starting at left tackle for the Buffalo Bills in a must-win game on Sunday.
