  1. It’s very reasonable to question if the Bills can have the success they are expected to have. The number 1 D rating last year was a joke. IIRC they only beat 2 teams that weren’t playing a rookie or back-up QB the whole season. The schedule was soft and they did take advantage of it. This year won’t be as easy. Hopefully, the DL is improved and we see some steps taken by Groot as well. Once Tre is back the secondary should be improved. There was a reasonable amount of turnover on the O too, so there’s no guarantees of anything.
  2. I would absolutely expect Diggs to have his numbers, Diggs put up 2x what Davis did all year, would you expect Diggs to not get it done?
  3. And Davis has shown he’s the right choice? EJ Manuel was a hard worker.. just sayin.
  4. There’s a lot of rules against it, but where there are rules, there are ways to use them for your own good. There’s also just simple back office agreements, I’m not buying Brady was so nice he just took less than market value all those years. I guarantee he got greased well by Kraft. They are cheaters, we all know it, assuming they would play within the salary rules is foolish.
  5. Even if OBJ was signed tomorrow, Davis will have half a season to show himself. If he is the great player everybody wants to think he is, he will have no problem showing it. The only reason Davis had the game he did against KC was the choice of the D to take away Diggs and Knox and make somebody else beat them. Davis had a great game, but it was because KC bet he couldn’t do it and he did. End of the day, KC still won, so they were right(ish). McKenzie had a 200 yard game against the Fins and he’s never come close again, one game, especially one that’s an obvious outlier is not something I consider anything to put much stock in. I know people want to claim sanders took away Davis’ opportunities, but that’s just not true. Sanders was a non factor most of the year, especially the second half of the year. He had a whole 42 catches for the year, Davis had more opportunities than Sanders did and if Davis wasn’t doing enough to over take a gimpy Sanders, it says something. Davis didn’t have a game over 5 catches and broke 100 yards one time (on 3 catches), just once the whole year. He has been a complimentary player at best thus far. OBJ is a bonafide #1 and a super star, if you can add him and he takes away snaps from Davis, oh well. Davis has not shown he is a difference maker. I like him, I hope he steps up big, but there is absolutely NOTHING to suggest he deserves to be handed the top spot behind Diggs.
  6. Facts of the matter, most guys just don’t have it, there’s ~15 guys in the world at one time who are not guys you trying to replace. QB at this level is demanding, most just don’t have it.
  7. Oh FCOL, you don’t want to take snaps away from a guy who’s done absolutely nothing in his career vs an All Pro? C’mon. I like Davis, the guy has had 2 seasons of 600 yards. If he’s as good as you want him to be, there’s nothing to worry about, he won’t be held off the field. OBJ has been great since the day he stepped on the field in the NFL, he’s a great talent. What’s the worst that happens, Diggs runs more in routes (where he already eats) and you have two big time guys going to the boundaries? Yeah, check out that Diggs guy the Bills tries to make work, that was a bust.
  8. Idgaf what people think, that signing would be absolutely HUGE.
  9. I don’t know if he is THE most over rated, he’s a solid player and people do have delusions about him being a star though. He’s not producing what you want for a top 10 pick, but he’s a starter in the league. For me, Robert Foster was probably the most over hyped, people were speculating the Bills could trade him for a 1st after his late season string of back yard go routes from Allen… until he was cut before the next season. That was some serious stupidity.
  10. Yes, it’s still a major factor. The AFC East has to be the least appealing, NY, NY, MA taxes. Only relief is Miami.
  11. Players don’t forget about it, high tax teams have to pay more or give the players a reason to be there that out weighs it. If you have 2 equal offers, two “equal teams” (there’s no such thing, I know), one where you lose 11% to taxes or one where none are taken, on a $10M deal, where ya going? I’m not giving up over a million. This is going to be a big factor for lower tier players, like the pass catching RB, that trying to make his one big payday and max out his career earnings. Guys that have made a lot already and want to chase a ring are going to be easier to convince. Miller has made a ton from day one, his top options were heavily taxed states, unless he went to Dallas in which case he could have made more with less chance to win. Taxes screw the teams trying to fill the mid to low level holes and the non-contenders. All things equal, it makes sense to look to low/no income states. WNY taxes are similar to Los Angeles, which is insane. That said, California is beautiful, full of beautiful women, great weather etc. The place itself is a draw. The other thing you aren’t considering, MOST of the big contracts the Rams have are not guys actively going there in FA, it’s trades to bring them in or they were drafted there and got guaranteed money before their contract ended, taking security over injury risk. Look at the roster, what big contracts do they have that haven’t been drafted or traded for?
  12. Still losing 10.9% of all the games you play in NY, all your signing bonus, all you performance bonuses etc. Its an asinine amount any way you try to justify it.
  13. You are dreaming, YOU can offset the taxes with low COL, somebody getting blasted at 10.9% of their income is not offsetting that. Allen is losing 4.4 million a year vs any no state tax team. You think agents don’t get that? C’mon man.
  14. Gotta wonder if Darnold loses, what do you do? Cut that guaranteed money or do you push him to 2 and cut Walker who will definitely land somewhere else?
  15. Those football guy have never been wrong or ignored a hole in the roster before 🙄 Once you learn to read, you will have a better chance of getting it right.
  16. I don’t really trust that part of the process, we have seen too many times where they go into the year at key positions incredibly thin and it bites them. I can’t see a plan, you can’t count on a 5th round rookie to take over, Crowder is a slot guy, and there’s no veteran depth at all. It looks like the ole “we’ll cross that bridge if we get there” plan. I hope we don’t get there. I’m sure they have Sanders on speed dial, and probably have him lined up to bring on the practice squad late in the year for a playoff run (if he’s still trying to play for a ring). They rely entirely too much on Allen to do it all. I’m not saying Julio was the answer as he had a really down year last year and I don’t know if he’s ever coming back to the old form, but somebody like him would sure be a nice safety net. Just getting digs an in series rest takes away any credible threat out there for the D.
  17. Whoa, you are going to get the Beane slobbers upset with logic like this. The Bills are THIN at skill positions and nobody wants to admit it. Shakir better show up big, that’s a tall task for a 5th round rookie. It’s like nobody wants to look at the roster and believe there’s 1 player who’s ever had a 1000 yard season, your #2 that “exploded” last year, had the same 600 yards he did as a rookie. I’m not saying he won’t step up, but that lack of difference makers on this team is resounding. Overall “good” players, quite a few on the roster, but good is the enemy of great. We can’t keep rolling with “good enough” and relying on JA to be great. That was proved last game. JA did it all, but the coaches blew multiple calls in 13 seconds all while trying to hide their “good” players from being burned by great ones. It may work if Allen plays at a transcendent level, but even Brady had a few great weapons for all his winning.
  18. Yeah, at this point I think he will be very lucky to get what Crowder did at 4M for the season. It’s late in FA, money is dried up and contenders don’t have to pay big to get guys to join them. GMs aren’t blind like some fans, he played with a QB that inflated the stats of every WR he’s played with, he’s run his mouth, he’s older and he doesn’t like to be hit. If he wants to play for a contender, he’s probably going to get a little better than Vet min and incentives. It might be an “easy” goal for him like 50 catches and 600 yards earn him another million each or whatever, but I don’t see much in the way of guarantees for him. Going to GB with Rodgers and not a lot of WR weapons would make a ton of sense for him. If he can have a good year he may extend his playing days a couple years.
  19. A lot of hate for the little guy. He’s a talent, make no mistake, he’s just a douche. I would have let him seek a trade personally, but to say he’s not a good QB is just not accurate. He’s got a great arm, he’s one of the best runners at QB, he’s short he’s, but he knows how to play around that. He’s a top 10 QB, he was going to get paid. Where I see the issue is he appears to be what Josh Rosen thought himself to be, so damn good, he can do what he wants. Reminds me of Cutler in a lot of ways. Top 5 talent, bottom 5 attitude and no leadership at all. Hence, I would not want him, but you also can’t just let him walk away.
  20. 40M guaranteed and another run at FA in the prime of your career isn’t a bad opportunity. Playing for a “prove” it deal for 1 year, that’s danger zone.
