I’ll agree to disagree, Oliver has shown me nothing, hope I’m wrong on him, but I don’t see it. Edmunds is an OLB, the sooner he gets there, the better, at this point, I don’t care if it’s in Buffalo. Ford, AJE, Singletary, Moss, Knox ( I see the potential in him, but he’s not there), c’mon man.

All this. Beane’s drafts have sucked. He landed Allen, which is the reason the team is contending, outside of that? These guys are just rotational players that he’s spent a lot on. His FA signings haven’t been much better in all honesty. Look at all the money spent last year for zero impact, outside of Williams. It’s not great.

Cover 1: AJ Epenesa Rookie year transformation

I’ll give the 3rd round guys a little bit of a pass, but the others have to show up, like right now. -
Go get this guy!!! (Kyle Long returning)

Let’s not forget what Kroft got in the open market, 8m isn’t bad. -
Ryan Fitzpatrick leaning toward retirement

Bring him in! I’d love to have him over Bark or Fromm as my QB2 He was a starter in the NFL for virtually his entire career, you are a loser on a forum, who do you think deserves more credit? -
Judon is a physical monster and can/will play against the run, plus he can dominate the pass rush. I think he’s a huge add. I want some NASTY on the D line, he’s a bad ass on the field. I see they chose to extend Hyde, which is great, happy to have him back, I’m sure it was to lower his cap number this year, which is awesome. He’s a helluva a player, and a leader, glad we have the backend of the D locked in. I’d bet it’s a situation where he is virtually no dead cap to cut him later, so they can work on developing the late round guys like McD likes to do. Good move for the short term keeping him and Poyer

We shall see how it plays out, I don’t particularly care, just win baby.

Missed the part where I said replacing Hughes for less may not be possible huh? Hyde’s roll is not that difficult to replace, he himself was just a converted corner at one point. Decisions have to be made, a safety not named Ed Reed isn’t going to be your difference maker to put you over the top, again, I like him, but I won’t be surprised to see them look at a younger/cheaper option. They need some impact guys and 5M could be the difference in it being a reality. I’d gladly say goodbye to Hughes, Addison and Hyde if it means we can resign Josh, and Matt Judon and hopefully keep Brown.
-
I am a huge fan of Hyde, but I believe he’s replaceable, in terms of production at very least. Hughes is at that point where he’s just a player in my eyes. He’s good, but the explosive, game changer, is gone. I’m also a believer in getting rid of a guy a year early vs a year late. Now the clear argument is trying to replace him for less money, that may not be possible as his position is a premium. First of all, we don’t know Star is coming back, after a year off, he may be done. Secondly, the cap hit sucks, but the roster spot is valuable too, so if he’s lost anything (not that he had a lot), I don’t need him in the way. So yeah, I could see him going.

Kyle Van Noy cut by MIA, should Bills target him?
DCofNC replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The over paying for multiple players is what was stupid, they are just dealing with the situation now. -
Fromm is safe barring poor performance. Star say a year and is old, not sure he’s worth keeping. Hughes and Hyde are not statistically significant, like them both, but I’m not sure there is a huge drop off to replace them A LOT cheaper. Personally, I like Hyde, I think Hughes is done, on the business side, I’d let them go a year early vs a year late. Both are in the twilight of their careers, neither was actually impactful last year, they are good, not great, their two salaries could add a great player. Add in a replacement in the draft and boom, the team is better. Don’t sleep on them being gone.
-
The only one there is no chance on is Fromm, until the end of camp at least. Hughes never gets home, Star is old AF and expensive, Hyde is expensive/older and though I don’t want him gone, could be a cap casualty. All that said, I’d keep Hyde, the rest are average at best.
-
There’s arguably not a starter on the Bills DL, MASSIVE upgrades need to be brought in and all the trash needs to go to the curb. Never gets home Hughes Undersized Eddy not a Star Eppi-pen Isn’t going to cut it. All of them are nothing but rotation players at this point in their careers. A REAL DT is a need, along with a good space eater and at least 1 pass rusher to pair with Hughes.

I’d love to see him here, but my guess would be GB, gotta try to win now. Pitt with his bros might be fun, but that team is a ticking time bomb to 5 wins.

Trade up or trade back in this year’s draft?
DCofNC replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Play the cards dealt, if there’s somebody you really love in the mid 20’s go get him. If not, go back and try to land a couple starters. -
You are splitting hairs between the 2 of them in terms of production. Watson has a little longer track record of success, Allen appears to have room to grow and played this year at an elite level. You would never trade JA, too much good to even consider it. These 2 along with Maholmes, probably Burrow and based on last year Herbert are going to be the next generation of greats that everyone wishes they had and every fan base feels their is the best. I’m just happy to have a guy we can clearly look at and be happy as hell we have him. Nailed it.

I’d like to see the Bills try to improve, to me that often times means letting your guys go and getting better players in. Milano, buh-bye, he stands out here because the LBs on this roster are fringe back ups. The entire D line could be rolled over as well. Outside of Oliver, they are older guys, who under performed, not the guys who are going to be in demand anywhere. I’d have no issue with 3 new starters on the DL. Oliver needs to step up or step out pretty soon though (don’t start, he’s barely played at a starting level, unacceptable for a top 10 pick). in an ideal world the DL can be shaken up, go after a real Edge guy, hopefully snag Watt, get back star or adequately replace him, lose all the dead weight. Hughes to me is past his prime, I’d have no issue if he’s back or not, Addison was a flash in the pan, decent start to the year, invisible late, I honestly don’t even remember the name of the guy we signed from Seattle, he was that good, so there’s a LOT of improvement to be made.

A Few Thoughts About The Alabama Draft Class.....
DCofNC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills will have to focus on the trenches this year in the draft. I would not be shocked to see Morse gone as well as Williams and Mongo. Morse is better served being released next year, but if they question his health at all, he could be a goner. Williams may get a hefty pay day, I’d like him back, but it’s not that easy. Cody Ford can hopefully make it back and take Mongos place, depending on contract demands again, I want him back too, but it may not happen. With all that said, a couple of these Bama boys look the part, I wonder if they meet the Beane criteria. -
RD 2, Pick 54: DE AJ Epenesa, University of Iowa
DCofNC replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m hopeful AJ was in the adjustment phase of, no more dough boy, bring that power at 15lbs lighter and have the speed to turn the corner at the pro level. He flashed some out there, kid has a nose for the ball. I wanted Dobbins at that pick, but it is what it is. -
Joe B article speculates John Brown will be cut
DCofNC replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All valid, there’s ways to make it all work is what I’m getting at. I don’t know what they think of him. I know as a player, I’d rather play where I know I’m going to get a shot to perform and win, as odd as this is to say, that’s Buffalo now.
