So do I…haha. But the difference is I’m not stuck in 1970 like some other people. Haha. Totally agree with you.

No offense, but I can sort of expect a response like this from someone a little longer in the tooth. This isn’t the old days anymore. This is a passing league and we need to make sure we continue to have that as a strength going forward. We have a ton of one year deals on offense and need to develop and build some continuity to make sure this is sustainable. Another poster brought it up that it appears the staff is higher on Jackson that some of us fans are. He’s right. The Bills thought about corner in the second round last year and decided that none of them could beat out who they took the year before in the seventh. I believe in mcd’s ability to develop DBs.
-
Absolutely. The chiefs will be looking at WR with one of those first rounders. That is always a strength and they keep making it stronger. We need to take a look at that blueprint and follow it…
-
The plan? Take one in the second, third or fourth. Someone like Taylor-Britt, Woolen, McCreary, heck maybe even Gordon will be there. Ive been saying for a while that it’s lunacy to draft a corner to get over the hump with the chiefs. Now we have to play hill twice regardless. Load up on inexpensive receivers on cheap deals and let them turn into our next offensive star. We have Davis for two more years before he wants more money. We will have to extend Diggs to keep him here. The rest are on short deals and are not part of the future except for maybe Knox. Crowder? One year deal… Howard? One year deal… Johnson? One year deal… Singletary? Last year of his rookie deal… McKenzie? One year deal with the chance to be two… Its time to face reality that this teams identity is the passing game. We need to make sure we are looking out for the health of the roster after more than this year.

Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]

I’m picking up on you mocking me. Real mature… -

We couldn’t cover Hill. That’s what I’m talking about. And if they get another top receiver that we can’t guard then it’s rinse and repeat. Not sure why you can’t understand that. I never said we don’t draft good corners. My point is that I’ll take great offense over great defense any day. The Chiefs have proven that model works. -

Right. And we will take a corner that won’t be able to cover him. Rinse. Repeat… -
Was Allen the top prospect on the Bills board?
whorlnut replied to SoMAn's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is true. People were floored when the chiefs took Mahomes. Almost everyone thought they were coming up to get Watson. Yeah it really sucks that we went back 17 spots and got Tre White AND ammo to get Josh Allen… -

Mahomes was considered a reach at 10 at the time. -
I don’t want a first round corner, but I agree with both of these guys that you have. So the only way to get a good corner is to take one in the first? Sorry…don’t agree. McD develops DBs better than anyone in the league and you can get Taylor-Britt, Castro-Fields, Woolen, or maybe even Mccreary later and they would still be immediate upgrades at CB2.

He drafted projects last year. I thought the same thing then, that it was dumb to be this close and not take someone that could help now. I could totally see him drafting someone like Williams.
-
You had me at WR in round 1. Gotta get younger and cheaper there. Also be nice to have someone on more than a one or two year deal. And you want to draft a guy that also has not proven that they can cover nfl receivers? It’s a one year deal man. Good grief. You guys act like crowder will be around very long.
-
He’s the same age as von Miller…the same von Miller we just signed to a long deal. If we aren’t worried about Miller at that age, then why should we be worried about Haden at the same age?

Looking at this list, it’s interesting that every one of the wide receivers on this list is viewed as a first round pick. Most of the corners are too, but I’ve also seen kyler Gordon and mccreary as second rounders. I’m fact, mccreary just dropped out of Daniel Jeremiah’s top 50 prospects after the combine. Thompson is a mid round projection. If this list is true and it’s not a guard, then I expect it to be WR. There aren’t any prospects that will probably be around after the first. Plus, McD is a wizard at developing DBs, so guys like Gordon, mccreary, or Thompson make sense later on. Would much rather have Dotson than olave. Dotson has better hands and isn’t afraid of traffic.

So when did Brandon Beane start drafting for need in the first? It’s so funny that most of you are so confident it will be a corner. Beane has never been transparent about anything. Taking the fifth corner off the board just because you need one is a bad use of a premium resource. And mccreary is 5’11”, not 6’2”. He also has sub 30” arms. His best trait is his tackling, but those arms worry me. Don’t want him at all.
-
I don’t think they will be in trouble at all. Just because a corner goes in the first doesn’t make him a scheme fit. McD is the best coach in the league at developing corners and he knows what type he likes. All the first round guys won’t necessarily fit that mold. That’s why I really think gardner, McDuffie, and Stingley could be the types of guys he prefers. Guys with loose hips and elite traits. These also happen to be guys that will likely be long gone.
-
This. I think the fact that Beane made the effort to bring mckissic here shows he wants that type of player on the team. If we go into the draft without signing someone else, it’s very much on the table at some point.
-
This is what I’ve been saying. You don’t take a corner in round one just to take one. It would depend on fit.
-
Don’t just concern yourself with his Buffalo tenure. He had several late rounders ball out for him Carolina…especially Josh Norman.
-
My thoughts 100%. We needed a qb for over 20 years and tried to patch that together and make it work with no success. We continually threw crappy resources at that position and all people wanted was defense. We did take a shot at Losman but that was desperation after we didn’t get Ben. And we all know the Manuel thing didn’t work. Other than that, it was retread vets and mid rounders. But…at least we had our defense. Haha. Listen…I realize the need is there for a corner. I’ve also taken the stance that McD is ELITE at getting something special out of every DB he’s ever coached. Anyone think Wallace or Jackson would be where they are at this point without McD? Get a third rounder like Cam Taylor-Britt and he could be a stud in this defense. Resume doesn’t matter when projecting NFL success. While you’re at it…put mayfield’s resume up against Allen’s.
-
But we HAVE TO take a first round corner…🙄
-
Great point. I think what is interesting is Beane saw an obvious need and tried to fill it with mckissic. Since he bailed, there hasn’t been an answer to that void yet. Beane very well could try to fill it in the draft. Someone like Hall is worth keeping an eye on.
-
These are my thoughts too. I’m basing a lot off of how many corners I think will be gone by 25. We shouldn’t take a corner just because we need one. It has to be the right player with the correct skill set and I’m sure Beane understands that.
-
Elam is interesting and I think he gets lost in the shuffle with the guys at the top. He’s definitely interesting and I’d take him over mccreary or Gordon.
