Good point and a fair question. My son tore his ACL and they told him it’s a 6-9 month injury and it all hinges on setbacks and how hard you work. Tre’s injury was at the end of November. 9 months puts him at July. I think he could be cleared by then but would probably need some conditioning before he’s a full go.

I’m fact, they thought about drafting corner last year in round 2 but they said they didn’t see anyone that they thought could beat out who the had. Not to mention they extended Wallace after the season. Maybe you should write a letter to the staff telling them that they have “stop gaps”. I’m sure they would love to hear that.

Totally disagree. This staff likes Dane Jackson. They developed him as a 7th round rookie. I can see them doing the same thing with a mid round corner to fill out the depth chart. A corner trio of Tre White, Dane Jackson, and round 2-4 rookie is a pretty good trio in this system. They have the best safety tandem in the league backing them up as well. We don’t NEED a first round corner.

Tre is a good point. But McD has always had an elite cover guy and someone that they developed on the other side. This goes back to his Carolina days.

Just saw that the Bills CB and ST coaches were at Penn State’s pro day. The only thing that makes sense there is Tariq Castro-Fields. He’s interesting and would profile to what I’ve been saying for a while now. That McD can coach anyone into a very good DB. That’s why I don’t see a first round corner. They have been very successful with mid round and undrafted corners. Castro-Fields ran a 4.38 at the combine and is 6’1” with nearly 31” arms. He would have the goods to be an immediate upgrade without using a first round pick. I think this is something to watch…

They were THE TOP defense last year. Good grief. Exactly. Without Allen, that offense is mediocre at best. Get him more elite help and take the pressure off. Im not really overwhelmed by what they have added this year. They added some nice pieces, sure, but they are all on one year deals. There are no long term solutions.

Exactly right. If we did lose Diggs, we would be in trouble. Davis might want big money in two years if he continues to ascend too. The point is, the passing game is our identity and we need to do all that we can to make sure that doesn’t go away. I just don’t know how to reason with you. It. Was. Coaching.

Pretty sure we gave up the least amount of touchdowns as any team last year. Also pretty sure we did it with an undrafted free agent and a 7th round pick played opposite one another since thanksgiving. We aren’t as bad at that position as you think and we don’t NEED to take a corner in the first round. We will draft one at some point and FA isn’t over yet. First of all…I meant a first round corner. I think we can and should wait until rounds 2-4. Second…I’m an older fan too. But I’m not set in my ways to think defense is still the end all-be all in today’s game. There was a time where it reigned supreme, but in today’s game, top offenses are crushing top defenses at a higher rate.

This has been my argument for a few seasons now. And it always seems to be reality. McD has a knack for developing corners. Goes all the way back to his Carolina days. It’s the one position that he can find someone raw with good traits and he will turn them into something sooner rather than later. I’d be ok with a corner in 2 only if we take a receiver in 1.

Jahan Dotson. Best hands in the draft. Good route runner. Isn’t afraid of traffic. 4.4 speed. This. I honestly can’t see another first round corner opposite Tre. It’s not how McD operates. He always has had an elite cover guy and then another that he develops and makes into a very competent player.

I’m sure he will draft one. The argument is whether it needs to be at 25 or not. eBall is right…McD can coach any db up and make him really good. We had an undrafted FA and a seventh rounder splitting time last year. Common sense would tell us that a second round corner could be an upgrade.

No offense, but I can sort of expect a response like this from someone a little longer in the tooth. This isn’t the old days anymore. This is a passing league and we need to make sure we continue to have that as a strength going forward. We have a ton of one year deals on offense and need to develop and build some continuity to make sure this is sustainable. Another poster brought it up that it appears the staff is higher on Jackson that some of us fans are. He’s right. The Bills thought about corner in the second round last year and decided that none of them could beat out who they took the year before in the seventh. I believe in mcd’s ability to develop DBs.

Absolutely. The chiefs will be looking at WR with one of those first rounders. That is always a strength and they keep making it stronger. We need to take a look at that blueprint and follow it…

The plan? Take one in the second, third or fourth. Someone like Taylor-Britt, Woolen, McCreary, heck maybe even Gordon will be there. Ive been saying for a while that it’s lunacy to draft a corner to get over the hump with the chiefs. Now we have to play hill twice regardless. Load up on inexpensive receivers on cheap deals and let them turn into our next offensive star. We have Davis for two more years before he wants more money. We will have to extend Diggs to keep him here. The rest are on short deals and are not part of the future except for maybe Knox. Crowder? One year deal… Howard? One year deal… Johnson? One year deal… Singletary? Last year of his rookie deal… McKenzie? One year deal with the chance to be two… Its time to face reality that this teams identity is the passing game. We need to make sure we are looking out for the health of the roster after more than this year.
