Great point. This corner talk is getting absurd. We still led the entire league in fewest tds allowed. I don’t care about who we played. We played our schedule and the results speak for themselves. Other teams played bad qbs too and didn’t have the stats that or defense did. I don’t think this regime sees corner the same way as some fans do. They like guys that can keep the receivers in short yardage catch situations and tackle them immediately. We have the best safety duo in the league that helps mask some of the corners’ weaknesses. The defense is fine. In fact, if we don’t add a single other piece to it this off-season, it will be top 5 still. Another poster, who I agree with, says defense mainly matters in the regular season. Once you get to the playoffs and play elite qbs, they will mainly burn any elite corner you have with their elite receivers. Need proof? Look at the super bowl. Jalen Ramsey, who we all can admit is prob the best corner in the league, looked silly at times against Cinci’s young stud receivers. The pass rush win that game. Not the corners. And oh by the way…we have one of those very pass rushers on our team now. Go stack the offense. That’s the missing piece to this puzzle. Not some dumb corner that will look lost against a top receiver in a big game.

Exactly. Literally EVER single argument the cornerback crew brings up can be turned right around and thrown directly in their faces. It’s kinda funny…
-
Exactly. It’s completely laughable to me that ANYONE thinks a first round corner is more important than helping the best player in the game. I can’t take trying to reason with these people anymore.
-
Never said the offense was a problem. I said we need to keep adding to the offense. It’s foolish to think a first round corner will be the last missing piece that will make a number one defense unstoppable. 🙄
-
I’m not arguing with you or anyone. Nothing will change my mind. You can continue to think a “stud” corner will take plays like that away. That’s your opinion. Whatever. The bottom like is “alpha” that no defense looks good against top offenses these days. Did you see Ramsey look lost in the super bowl against stud receivers?

My argument is about taking a corner in 1. There are other rounds to get a CB2. Do you really think anyone can guard both Hill and Waddle? If so, good for you. The Chiefs have been daring teams to keep up with them on offense for years and it’s worked for them with just a serviceable defense. We have a top 5 unit right now, even if we make no more moves. We lost those 13 seconds due to absolutely atrocious coaching decisions. That’s a fact. They literally didn’t do anything right in that time. And you also conveniently forget about the long stretch in the regular season where our offense fell flat on its face. We had no protection, Singletary was (and still is) slow, and Allen was basically doing everything on his own. The offense cost us a higher seed in the playoffs by putting up 6 points against the Jags. Believe what you wanna believe…I’ll do the same.

I know plenty about football boss. I also know there are still vets that are unsigned and I know there are other rounds besides the first round to get a rookie. Heck, we developed a UDA and a seventh rounder recently, so o think the odds are VERY high that we don’t use a first rounder on a corner. Give me a first round weapon in round 1 and Taylor-Britt or Josh Williams in round 3.

Or it’s a perfect time to get cheaper on offense. We are paying Diggs and there are some other decisions coming up the next year or two. It works both ways. This team’s identity is the passing game. Gotta keep weapons in the pipeline cause you don’t know who will leave.
-
This is just…wow. So we would give up a ton of picks (maybe even next year’s first) to move up and get a backup plan to Tre being ready? This is laughable. I think the staff likes Jackson a lot, no matter how many of you feel or if you agree or not. The idea that we are set on offense is equally laughable. We have a slow RB on the last year of his rookie deal, we have an old guard on a one year deal, and a bunch of “weapons” on one year deals as well. You don’t think we could use some cheap young labor that will be for a while in that side of the ball? I do. And hopefully Beane does as well.
-
So you can only fill a need with a first round pick? Sorry. Not buying it. If there isn’t a corner worth a first round pick, do you still take one? I really can’t stand this argument. Crowder and Howard are on cheap one year deals. There is NOTHING there that should preclude them from taking a WR if there is one they like. I don’t agree with you or anyone on corner in round 1. You can’t reach for need and I think Beane likes Jackson a lot. We can get a pretty good corner in the mid rounds.
-
Ummm…I said “after this year”…meaning this coming year. I know we have him for two full years. It’s def not outside of the realm of possibilities that Davis won’t command upwards of 20 million once he’s eligible. This WR market has been totally reset and we have no idea where it will be in a couple years.
-
I hate the idea of mortgaging the future to move up for a DB. Especially with McDs history of successfully developing that position. We need to continue to build the offense around Allen. Losing that many picks would be a death blow if Diggs becomes and issue and Davis prices himself out of a second deal.

Boom. 100%. This idea of needing to make sure we draft a corner in one cause it’s our “biggest need” is outrageous to me. Beane has never operated like that and sure as heck isnt starting now. It’s funny you say that, because that’s one of the biggest knocks on Chris Olave. He’s great at making plays but doesn’t really create after the catch. Sound like someone we just released? -

This. Continuing to give Allen cheap vets on one year deals isn’t the way to build this offense. At some point, a conscious effort needs to be made in getting guys that will be here for a while. You’re correct…we don’t know what will happen with Diggs. I could see that getting a little ugly if they don’t figure out a raise for him. And if they do that, then they might not be able to pay Davis. I think it will come down to one or the other. We need another stud on the cheap that will be affordable for 4-5 years. -

I would def be ok with this. We need some cheap talent on offense locked up on a rookie deal. -
An Idea for a potential Bills draft trade down with Atlanta!

I don’t think you would need to sweeten it with a player…the falcons would be getting back in the first round. -
This April fools stuff is getting old…

Good points. The theme of the off-season has been that “we need to draft a corner in the first”. That’s only gonna get this team in trouble if it’s not the right guy. You don’t draft a corner just to draft one. That’s completely reckless and irresponsible. We can get a really good one in the 3rd or 4th. Joe Marino raves about Cam Taylor-Britt and Josh Williams. They are 3rd round guys.
