  1. Why does it have to be a 3 or 4? Are they the magic rounds for you? You are acting as if w e don’t get a developmental safety in rounds 3 or 4, then why bother? It’s a silly stance. McD and his staff can develop DBs better than anyone and successfully converted poyer from a corner to a safety. We can get one on day 3 and develop him behind the starters.
  2. Foolish? How noble of you Hyde was set to come back this week, but we didn’t make it that far. He will be fine. Benford was a hybrid DB in college…like Hyde. They have already discussed a move to safety. This fanbase has been trained to think we need to take defense early. We don’t. We can get a safety later on and let McD coach him up as a developmental piece. Heck, poyer and Hyde were both day 3 picks and they turned out pretty good, no?
  3. It’s funny that you think the offense is a free-for-all and McD has no input. It’s pretty bad if you really think this.
  4. Oh ok…how did that work out when Frazier’s d wasn’t performing well and McD took over play calling duties one game early in his tenure? The point is…the GM went and got Hines for a reason. If they wanted him more involved, I can almost guarantee McD has those conversations with Dorsey.
  5. You missed the point. If it was such a burning issue in meetings, then why didn’t McD step in and demand more of it? I too think Dorsey deserves some blame, however, McD is the HC and should be able to force it. Besides…if Dorsey was so much to blame and Incompetent, then why are they essentially endorsing him for a second season at OC?
  6. We could also go S on day 3. This is part of the problem with this staff. They like to take rotational players too early. If they nab Benford and Hyde as the starting safeties next year, then it would be beyond stupid to take a safety before day 3, if at all.
  7. I can’t believe we are talking about another DB with yet another top pick after we watched Allen running for his life and throwing to replacement players (beside Diggs) all season.
  8. Are we going to do this with every player that gets cut from here until TC?
  9. Well…I personally feel like Beane and McD need to ride or die with Bernard after using such a valuable pick on him. The prevailing thought was he was insurance in case they lost edmunds. They can’t give up on that guy after a year and continue to ignore the offense.
  10. Since we are talking about Marino, it’s important to note that he believes Benford will be the poyer replacement. I’m more than ok with that. Promote from within. Benford has the same hybrid pedigree that Hyde had and look how that turned out. We do not need to take a safety high in the draft, nor do we need to spend FA dollars on one. The answer is likely already in the roster.
  11. Is Dorsey to blame? Partly. I put a lot of it on McD. He is the HC and why wasn’t he in Dorsey’s ear all week telling him to use those guys? Maybe he was, but I can’t imagine Dorsey completely neglecting cook and Hines if his HC wasn’t demanding more out of them.
  12. Anyone who can utilize all the top assets we already have and turn them into mean qb seeking missiles…
  13. Can’t fathom a safety in the early rounds. McD made mention of Benford going to safety in his presser. Marino loves the idea and actually expects it to be Benford and Hyde next season. If you want to draft depth later on, fine. But under no circumstances do we need or have to draft one early this year.
  14. That’s fine. If Beane can move up two spots for a corner, then I expect the same for a WR that could help out our franchise qb. Nothing should be off the table.
  15. OrJosh Downs. Neither are big guys, but they are dynamic and fast.
  16. I won’t give him a break. Not at all. Think about it…what has this staff preached from day one? Competition. Where was Gabe’s competition? There wasn’t any. They handed him the job and bet on that game to bleed over to a larger role in the offense. It was a HUGE fail on beane’s part. One that I think came because they were prepared to continue to bolster the defense at the expense of getting better in the receiving game. Now their hand is forced.
  17. Not only that, but don’t say the reason the team that just kicked your arse only have the WR that kicked your arse is because they “sucked”. Beane has had a top 10 pick too the year Allen got us to 6-10 and picked Ed Oliver. We could have used that pick to have gotten weapons like cinci did, but instead thought an undersized DT was worth the pick.
  18. We have the “convert”. His name is Christian Benford and McD mentioned approaching him about switching to safety in his presser.
  19. That’s part of the problem with the Davis situation. He was essentially handed the WR2 job without any real competition. They more or less banked on the chiefs playoff game as being who he really was.
  20. I think the writing was on the wall as to how badly Beane botched the WR position when he signed brown and Beasley off the streets. I think it also had something to do with Allen asking for more help cause he didn’t trust guys like McKenzie and maybe even Davis after the constant drops and bad routes.
  21. OP’s user name is “LOST”. What does that tell you?
