  1. In theory you are correct but consider that the OC devises his gameplan based on what the opponent has shown previously. There is only limited time to prepare & coach the gameplan each week. You can't prepare for everything. When the opp is doing something you don't expect its very difficult to adjust during the game. Even halftime adjustments are difficult (P Manning says it is an illusion that you can do halftime adjustments). During the K-Gun years, Kent Hull the center made the line protection calls. Maybe something like this would help Josh by taking that aspect of the game off his plate.
  2. Two points: 1. You can't just decide to go up tempo for the whole game unless you game planned it and your O players are conditioned to do it. If you try quickly to sub in personnel packages the D gets to sub also. 2. When you go uptempo the D tends to play a base D because it cannot sub in personnel. That probably simplifies Josh's reads.
  3. What is EPA? I'm guessing that its not the Environmental Protection Agency.
  4. For the life of me I can't figure out why Pegula doesn't take the advice of some random guys on this board (including me)!
  5. The K-Gun O line was orders of magnitude better than the Josh-Gun O line.
  6. The D is playing with one hand behind its back because of injuries. Belichick was bound to find holes all over. What you saw today was Jones carve up a D riddled with second string players. The O performance was far more concerning particularly given that the Pats two top pass rushers did not play. As for those calling for Dorsey's head (and the rest of this sentence is not a defense of Dorsey) how many of you can tell on most plays whether it was the scheme or the execution that failed? I certainly cannot without the tome to study the all-22 view.
  7. I agree with much of this post BUT Josh does not walk on water. There are times when he doesn't see open receivers or bails out too soon (though he's been better lately at staying put). Perhaps its because the opponent's D is good at disguising coverages or because it doe not present the same Ds that Josh has been schooled to expect earlier that week. I hope after that Jet's clunker Josh spends more time studying defenses. One thing is sure, a successful O is not everyone runs around, then Josh scrambles and make a superhuman throw to Diggs for the crucial score. I'm not Josh-bashing. I think he's special but there is room for improvement. Things happen pretty fast in the an NFL game so its easy to miss-fire if you are facing the unexpected. or as Ferris Bueller put it, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
  8. I have a solution: go to two hand touch or flag football. That will cut down on injuries. Note: engage sarcasm detector when reading this post.
  9. This pop was really popular in the 1930s. I'll never understand it; it tastes terrible.
  10. Interesting. When I watched the game it seemed to me that Josh was under pressure a good bit of the time. Several times (in the 2d half I think) there were free rushers up the middle.
  11. Excellent analysis of the first half passing offense. It looks like the problem is more with execution than play design. The OL does not give Josh enough time
  12. This and presumably you rely on how Bass was doing in pre-game practice kicks.
  13. I think he has a right shoulder injury. On the sack he lands on his right shoulder and grabs it. When he gets up he's favoring that shoulder.
  14. Moderator: Please merge this thread with the "Fire Daboll" thread of yesteryear.
  15. That's a bit harsh. maybe he just wants to be left alone. He retired twenty years ago.
  16. Never dip your pen in the company's inkwell. Way to throw away your career. "The joys of love are but a moment long; the pain of love endures the whole life through."
  17. I think that we have two chances of winning the Superbowl this year: slim and none. How the team and Josh and Stephon in particular respond to this will tell alot about their intestinal fortitude. On the one hand, they are bound to be discouraged but on the other hand they are professionals and presumably have ways of mentally dealing with adversity. The key will be how they and the team respond when they are several scores down in a game: do they roll over and play dead or do they fight back? So far the team's intestinal fortitude is a question mark in my mind. Here I'm thinking back to the team's collapse at the end of last season. For Srephon and Josh there may be a silver lining to the clound here: the pressure will be off to win it all. Now it's just a "go out and so your best season." My 2 cents
  18. You need a guy who can play right quick so I think it's a good idea to sign a guy who is already familiar with your defsnsive system. Now whether or not Norman still has the physical skills to play, that's another question. What has he been doing since 2022? Sitting on the couch drinking beer and eating chips?
  19. Agreed. If by design Dorsey must have a reason. Could it be to give Josh some quick reads? Yep. I bet Lawrence noticed it and knew he had a one-on-one advantage. Those who live by the blitz die by the blitz if the unblocked rusher doesn't get home in time.
  20. I do not necessarily disagree that the Bills were at a disadvantage but how to account for the fact that our D played much much better than our O? Would not they both be jet lagged? Playing devil's advocate here.
  21. Eels have a long history of killing people who eat them: https://eels.historiacartarum.org/uncategorized/death-by-eels/ Toad in the Hole with HP sauce anyone?
  22. He, Bill George and Sam Huff made the middle linebacker position what it was before the NFL became a passing league.
  23. Get off my lawn you young wippersnapper! In that case you would be a young Coot
  24. What does Diggs do when its an RPO? That type of play could be a run or a pass depending on what the conflict defender does so Diggs doesn't know whether it's a run or a pass play.
