PFT Mock: It's Burns aAt #9
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to OldTimeAFLGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both Allen and Edmunds were pre-draft visits. Burns and the frequently mocked to Buffalo Jonah Williams have not been reported to visit One Bills Drive. -
Select 2 players that will be drafted by Buffalo
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Montez Sweat- trade down with Redskins, so they can jump ahead of the Donks for the best QB available. AJ Brown- trade back into the first, get the best overall WR and the all important 5th year option. Both guys have had pre-draft visits, whereas I did not see Jonah Williams or Brian Burns on the list, but perhaps they got all they needed at pro days/combines on those two? -
If they are buying into “this is a playoff team”, and will have the cap to acquire FA’s next season like they did this year, then who cares if they give up what would be a late 1st for arguably the best player in the draft???? That’s ridiculous. I would be all for this if Buffalo gets THE top player in the entire draft class. Giving up next years first which I’m sure Beane is hoping is atleast in the late 20’s considering the roster he has put together, and some extra late round picks the Bills have to spare doesn’t seem like a terrible price to pay to move up from 9 to 2 if they think Williams will be the piece that takes the defense from very good to elite.
-
If last year’s draft showed us anything, it’s that Beane definitely likes players with elite physical traits and trusts his coaching staff to take elite specimens like Allen and Edmunds to mold them into elite NFL players. For that reason alone I believe Metcalf is definitely in play at 9. Not my preferred choice at 9, but it should hardly shock anybody if D.K. is a Buffalo Bill come Thursday evening...

They likely see a player with some exceptional, unteachable intangibles, likely a 6th-UDFA, who they feel could have potential at the next level with the right coaching. (See Foster, Robert). I think it’s the common sense approach to take, load up on the guys with the intangibles you can’t teach and see how many can absorb good coaching and take their play to the next level, that’s how you find those late round gems. Especially when you already have most needs met, worst case scenario the player usually contributes in some capacity on ST. Besides, everybody’s gotta eat.

Joe B: 2019 NFL Mock Draft No. 2
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oliver at 9, then jump ahead of the Pats and grab Fant at the end of round 1. not that I don’t like Joe B’s draft, just not sure Hock lasts til 15. -
It makes sense to try and trade back into the later part of the 1st if you are really high on a player, because you get the 5th year option if things pan out. I could see Beane following a similar train of thought, especially this draft with an abundance of picks and coming off a very active FA period. The draft will be about quality > quantity.

Too Early Mock Draft?
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to RocCityRoller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So there no chance Josh Allen falls to 9??? I can’t be the only guy hoping we draft a Josh Allen in the top 10 in consecutive years. -
Hockenson at #9 Change My Mind
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they trade back with say Houston for Clowney, then sure grab a TE, but not if they stay at 9. TE is just too much of a risk that early. Granted plenty of prospects at all positions don’t live up to their potential, but TE’s rarely make an immediate impact. Even Vernon Davis who was regarded as a can’t miss prospect, drafted 6th overall, took 3 full seasons before the light finally went on. He had more receiving yards in his 4th season than his first 3 combined. Ebron was another more recently who never looked the part until getting to a new team and being paired up with an elite QB who throws 50 times a game. -
A trade down is now off the table.
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to Cripple Creek's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Still have needs on the Edge, DT, OL (both G and T), OLB (that can cover and spell, potentially replace Lorax), TE, WR (Zay is garbage), HB (upgrade over Ivory, Gore and possibly Shady after last year), CB (K Johnson is injury prone, one concussion from it being a career for him, T Johnson coming off injury), and I would like a QB to replace Anderson after the debacle last season. Find a prospect who is a poor man’s JA, not sold on Barkley either after just one good game. Point is this team still has plenty of areas to upgrade, no need to squander draft picks. We will undoubtedly see some maneuvering. Could he trade up? Sure... Will he? It’s just as likely that he trades down. Btw, that’s 10 positions, if you count both G and T. Hopefully there is a couple more signings before draft day to give them even more flexibility, but those 10 spots should be addressed one way or another still. -
I see the XFL in his future.

I swear life is just the Truman show... I mean seriously, the Buffalo Bills are going to be what finally does Drumpf in??? Would be a fitting end I a suppose to what is easily the most bizarre presidency ever. Surely this would be enough to lift the curse and get us back into the good graces of the football gods.

Ziggy Ansah to visit bills
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clowney is also only 26 still, and Ansah is... 30 something? Nobody seems quite sure about that. The injury concerns seem a little overblown however, last year was an issue, but Ziggy is one year removed from a 12 sack season, and last year was the first season he played fewer than 13 games. If the price wasn’t egregious, I would prefer Clowney, but if Ansah can be had on a reasonable deal (nothing longer than 3 years with an out after 1-2) it would still be a great move to solidify the pass rush and provides more flexibility on draft day. -

Well they clearly won the offseason... but it’s still Cleveland, they’ll figure out a way to “Browns it up.” -
Le’Veon Bell Signinig With the Jets
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Harder to find a really good C than it is to find a productive RB... Buffalo should just be drafting 1 RB every year, from the range of rounds 3-5. -
Le’Veon Bell Signinig With the Jets
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think Beane ever even considered dropping a bunch of $$$ on a malcontent at the most easily replaceable position in the game. I hope the Jets dropped a boatload on him like Mosley. Might be homer glasses but I think Beane has done a much better job than the clown in Jersey (who probably shouldn’t even have one) and is now spending profusely to try and make up for his shortcomings. -
OT Ty Nsekhe (Redskins) to the Bills
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love the way Beane has utilized all this cap space, especially in an overpriced market. Has managed to literally upgrade all positions of need and has now leveraged the team into a position where they can truly go BPA throughout the draft. This is the way winners are built. -
It depends on how many more guys they sign before the draft, if any. I could see them drafting Edge at 9, Tackle at 40, then TE in 3rd-4th personally. Croom still has upside, Kroft can be the #1 TE and bring along a young prospect or two. If they can land Daryl Williams, then I could definitely see them going TE earlier than later.

WR Cole Beasley (Dallas) to the Bills
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn’t say it was a bad signing, I just simply said I’ve never been particularly high on him. My ideal slot WR would have a bit more size to handle going over the middle and making contested grabs... sue me? -
WR Cole Beasley (Dallas) to the Bills
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never been a big fan of Beasley, but he’s better than what we’ve had recently, and generally seems sure handed with the ability to get open which is what Allen needs right now. -
TE Tyler Kroft (Bengals) to the Bills

Buffalo dumpster diving to kickoff Free agency... I guess they figured why wait for the inevitable? -
TE Tyler Kroft (Bengals) to the Bills

Seems steep for a back up TE... when is it ok to start questioning the process? -
If Trump had the winning bid, he’d likely already be in the process of being forced out of the league for “misconduct” violations. Goodell wouldn’t simply look past the “grab them by the V” remark, (which was essentially admitting to sexual assault on tape) the way his party has. I know, I know...”THE e-mails” were far worse than lacking all common decency and admitting to felonious assault on women.
