  1. Gutekunst and “the straw hat” haven’t played this right at all. They’re trying to play a middle ground and screwing the pooch. This is evidenced by cuckolding themselves with that massive extension. If they were going this route they should have let Rodgers play on the previous contract and traded him without the monstrous cap liability. The issue is compounded by poor drafting which has existed since Schneider left for Seattle. I have no issues whatsoever with drafting a QB early. The problem is that they went hard in FA for pass rush and let their offense dissipate while extending Rodgers. Love is going to need weapons as well, and with all the money allocated to those contracts they’re extremely limited. The only recourse would be trading Rodgers for an insane haul that makes the Mack compensation look like an appetizer.
  2. A little different when your spine’s just been put back together with hardware from Home Depot. ?‍♂️. Not that Rodgers isn’t an ass.... but.... we’re seeing teams load up for late career runs with top QBs. The Packers should have done something to signify that they want to win besides letting their starters walk over the past five years without replacements.
  3. Speed in the front seven doesn’t really concern me since Milano and Edmunds are the guys that’ll be running. Plus, reaction time and quickness/burst matter more in the box than 40 times. That’s where Hughes, Addison, etc excel. Our speed seems to be concentrated down the middle of the defense with Oliver, Edmunds, Hyde and Poyer. Those guys generally do a damn good job of utilizing range to limit big plays. My biggest concern is CB2 getting caught on an island during a safety blitz. McD seems to be willing to compromise on speed a bit in order to stock the defense with guys that are going to be in the right place at the right time, so they won’t need the extra speed to make up for bad recognition and anticipation. It’s worked so far.
  4. If we’re just going off of their time as a Bill then it’s Reed then Moulds. Things change up a bit if you start looking at the entirety of careers though. We’d have to add Lofton and TO to the conversation in a serious manner.
  5. Possibly the most complete back coming out. Really can’t recall another back putting better pass protection on tape. I had him pegged as our possible round three pick, and I’m happy as a pig in slop. More-so because pre-combine I had Epenesa as a possibility for our first round pick. Everything after those picks was gravy to me. Lol. Kind of wish we’d nabbed Bryce Hall, but aside from that. I’m smiling like a dead pig in the sun.
  6. 9 seasons starting with a probowl nod one year is solid for the 28th pick in the draft. Particularly when the guy played here instead of with a team that grants de facto probowl votes.... Honestly, what’s your opinion on the guys Kent Hull played beside in comparison to the talent Wood had next to him? Let’s call Richter and Incognito a wash.... I’m pretty sure Ballard and Wolford were better than any tackles Wood played alongside. I’d say Dawkins and Fina are a wash. Then there’s Ruben Brown..... Life’s easier for a center when he’s playing with a bunch of other probowl linemen and the guy directing protection calls is a future HOF QB. Just food for thought.
  7. May I suggest that in the future PFF’s data should just be provided with a screenshot or copy & paste instead of a link???? I mean ***** their clicks. ?‍♂️
  8. This isn’t a particularly “dangerous” defense. It’s consistent, stifling, and deep. McD & co don’t rely upon a sack master or turnovers to win games. Instead they go about business, rotating and shuffling pieces in and out without flash....
  9. This picture can be found in the Brittanica under “skinny-fat”.
  10. This is sort of par for the course with high ceiling guys that are drafted after the first round.... They usually have lower floors, character concerns, or are raw talents with question marks. Truth is that at this point everyone is right to believe in their take on Knox. We won’t truly know what he is for another year or two. The potential is there so ??
  11. Jerry loves him some red headed backup quarterbacks. Calling it now..... Dalton will be the Cowboys OC in 2028.
  12. Yup. First of the modern freak athlete MLBs. Hopefully Edmunds instincts develop to that level.
  13. It’s not like either of them were slow. Both ran 4.5’s and had the instincts to play faster than their times. Urlacher was a beast in coverage roaming the center of that Tampa 2. In a way he was the original modern MLB. Urlacher, Willis, Kuechly. Can definitely fit Bobby Wagner in there as well.
  14. That game made me think of Gale Sayers 6 TD game. One of those games where one guy is in cleats and everyone else is sliding through the elements as gods sense of humor allows.
  15. The amount of HoFers, All pros, and pro bowlers in that video is impressive. It’s like a who’s who of talent getting broken down. ?
  16. Not to mention that TB also plays the NFC North this year.... Assuming the season gets played ?? there are going to be some excellent QB matchups for prime time; Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Ryan, Stafford, etc. Not to mention that we’ll be getting a Brady vs Mahomes matchup as well. Nothing with that schedule is a true cakewalk.
  17. So you think it’s about preserving statistics other than wins?
  18. This is a slightly slanted narrative. They generally go trenches or secondary in the first and offensive skill players in the second and/or third. Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Davante Adams, etc were all second rounders. Peter King reported that Gutekunst tried to trade up in the second this year for a WR, but couldn’t make it happen. However, they still followed their MO and went RB/TE in rounds 2 and 3. They’ll probably sign or trade for a WR around the June cuts.
  19. “My dad taught us from a young age to get our hands on people and throw them to get off blocks. I was pretty lucky to have a mentor like him in the house all the time, someone who knows the game of football and played the same position.” His old man played DL at Iowa as well. Forgot to link for quote..... https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.latimes.com/sports/story/2020-04-16/nfl-draft-aj-epenesa%3f_amp=true
  20. Now all we have to do is find a Reggie White to put on the other side.
  21. The big issue here is that most teams don’t have the defensive personal and coaching talent to pull off those plans. That said, I’m still skeptical about Roman’s ability to adapt long term. His offenses seem to drop off year 3-4, so it’s going to be on L Jackson to improve enough to account for that. Although it’s possible the rest of their coaching staff infused some thought into his route combinations and passing game coordination.
  22. Underrated ability that Diggs has.... getting open while working into the QBs vision during a scramble. Our WRs sucked at this last year. Sweaney was perhaps the only pass catcher who seamed to reliably find holes in coverage during a scramble, get Allen’s attention, and hold onto the ball.
  23. Yup. Short on breakaway speed. Great for chunk yardage. Penalties are going to be frustrating unless Allen’s deep ball improves drastically. ??.
  24. It’s so they can traces infection clusters and disease vectors.
  25. Anything to keep them safely away from Chippewa
