  1. But at the same time you cannot downplay some of the benefits. An example is the Moss TD.... The Jets dropped 8 into coverage, Allen rolled out, pressed the LOS, the LBers left their zones and Moss became an open target. It’s not always a good idea for Allen to scramble and run, but against zone he can open up holes in coverage. Against man he can move the chains with his legs. He’s got to start protecting the ball better though.
  2. Absolutely. Dislocation or bust.
  3. I certainly wouldn’t complain if they caught a 15 yarder for a chop block that ended the dudes career. 🤷‍♂️
  4. Honestly, I’d be content with that depending on how it plays out. Particularly in week one against a division rival. Bass is a wildcard right now, and it’d be a relief to know early on that he can hit the high pressure kicks.
  5. That’s the kicker.... Chucky tried to convert him to a RB and the kid couldn’t grasp the transition. He’s a kid that can just go out and make plays though. My money is on Gruden making him think too much or he did some stupid ***** in Vegas.
  6. It’s a chicken vs egg argument, but.... One could say with a reasonable level of confidence that Daboll never had a competent QB to work with either. When Cassel, Matt Moore and Derek Anderson are the best QBs you’ve had to work with the results aren’t going to be stellar, especially when your system relies on above average QB play. Contrast that with Roman’s approach which would probably be functional with Lynn Bowden Jr playing QB. With that in mind, Daboll needs to put up. Allen is in year three and the offense has more than enough talent to rack up points. No excuses going forward. Same goes with Roman and bucking the trend... Year 3-4 is where his offenses start getting predictable. Always worth the risk of ineptitude at QB for a year. It’s damn near impossible to upgrade with middling QB play as you end up 7-9 to 9-7 every year.
  7. I don’t think they’re exactly comparable. Daboll’s passing schemes are likely better and they prefer very different personnel groupings. Roman’s run schemes are the most innovative ground attack since Shanahan shot Terrell Davis to stardom with zone blocking. As a result, Roman’s schemes aren’t reliant upon traditional QB play, but those schemes and his playcalling tend to get figured out by the better defenses after a few seasons. It remains to be seen if Baltimore can overcome what occurred here and in SF.
  8. ^^^ This. Roman is the most innovative run system/play designer the NFL has seen in 30 years. Where he falls short is the passing game and finding ways to make it sync with his run plays. Props to the Ravens for recognizing that weakness and having him work with a passing game coordinator. Seems to have worked with Jackson and the TE talent there. However, I can’t help but wonder if the WR would perform better with someone other than Culley in that role.
  9. Dude killed it in fantasy with 16TDs and 1500 yards from scrimmage? ?‍♂️. Kid makes plays.
  10. I can see a 7th round pick for a team that needs to replace an injured gunner on teams. I seriously doubt any team is going to make a trade based upon his receiving potential though.
  11. I think Fosters likelihood of making the roster is tied to Taiwan Jones health. It’d be nice if we could see who else they’re using at gunner and have a better picture. Unfortunately, we’ve got the covid camp and lockdown on information.
  12. I didn’t use the link.... but I did email cbssports about one of their writers struggle with an addiction to crack.
  13. I generally go with home dogs to cover week one. To many wacky things happen to rely on other trends and speculation.
  14. I’m not sure if they can do it according to their rules. However, Jerry Richardson (Panthers) definitely sold his team ASAP after getting caught.
  15. Without the photoshop
  16. I’d be pissed because they’d get Lawrence.
  17. With Mongo out it‘s likely the strongest combination regardless of which plays RT and RG. Probably easier to just put Nsekhe in at RT and maintain continuity at the other Oline positions. Nsekhe is one of the best swing tackles in the NFL. I expect them to take advantage of that if/when needed.
  18. Food for thought.... Perhaps some of the board members read posts on their phone in the break room at work, and don’t have the luxury of sitting on their couch with a laptop all day. Regardless, casually pointing out formatting when there are format option when one “pastes” is hardly a personal attack.
  19. That’s a pain to read on mobile.
  20. Doesn’t help that I’m reading the thread with a hangover. ?. I’m not a huge stat guy for Allen because he’s a gunslinger by nature and he started so far behind the curve. I used Rivers as a comparison because there are similarities in how they approach(ed) passing as both seem to be strongest at intermediate throws... Particularly turning 3rd and long into 1st downs. Limiting mistakes is going to be the biggest indicator, and I think stats will add up if Allen can cut back the turnovers. I expect him to go through the first half of his career with a lower than average completion percentage and a higher than average yards per completion since that’s sort of the gunslinger MO. As long as he improves on the mistakes and becomes consistent he will become a franchise QB. I still want to see him take over and dominate a game against a team other than Miami though.
  21. Are you being facetious? The only QBs to hit 69% or over last season were Brees and Carr. If Allen makes a similar improvement to last season he will hit 64%. I don’t expect that due to his play style (62% is more likely), that would put his completion percentage smack dab in the middle of the pack. Honestly, what I’d like to see is Allen with passing stats similar to Phillip Rivers fourth year in the league (second starting). Maybe reduce the yards per game from 250 to 225 since Allen doesn’t have Sproles, Tomlinson and Gates as checkdown YAC monsters. Basically: 62-64% completion percentage, 3600-3800 yards, ~3:1 TD/INT ratio. The yardage can flex depending on how much Allen runs, but around 4,000 total yards while seriously cutting down the turnovers would be a solid step.
